Scouts agreed Kath had real raw power and feel to get to it in games before the 2021 draft, but his contact ability has come in below expectations while his defensive ability has been better than expected. Cannon looked like a late first-rounder for his last two seasons at Georgia, but concerns about forearm soreness moved him down draft boards. If he stays healthy, he has above-average-to-plus stuff and starter-level command at times. McDougal was a personal favorite projection arm in the 2021 draft before he missed the 2022 season due to Tommy John surgery. He is 6-5 with athleticism and three potential above-average pitches. Sprinkle had some compensation-round buzz early in the 2022 spring then fell apart down the stretch. He is a plus athlete with some feel to play shortstop and make contact at the plate.

Hoping Vera's velocity bounces back after missing so much time from Covid/Shoulder/Lat issues. I agree with Law's writeup on Thompson the Sox aren't using athletic strengths with his development. I can see a team targeting Thompson and taking off with an organization that does a better job with player development.

Finally some good news!

Houston has been really hitting the Cuban market the past 2-3 years. Not sure why the White Sox couldn't beat this in 23 signing period.

That ship has sailed. He’s 100% a reliever. Crotchet has never thrown over 70 innings in a season.

Shocked that Salas was thrown in the deal. He’s a big time sleeper prospect. Marlins often make strange moves. I would definitely be hitting them up about Jazz. You never know seems to not be very popular in the clubhouse.

Hopefully we get a surprise or two. Or we play the waiting game where more late Cubans become eligible and sign them on the cheap.

Houston Astros have around 38 players in their organization with Cuban heritage. They have now overtaken the White Sox organization with most Cuban players. I can’t find the article, but wasn’t there around a dozen Cuban players eligible during the summer for this signing period.

Thompson, Kelly, and Dalquist haven’t made the jump. I agree with what they said on Thompson his secondary pitches haven’t progressed and the lack of curveball bite has been disappointing. Also, shocking how Sox haven’t been able to improve Kelly’s fastball spin rate to make it play up more. Dalquist isn’t even mentioned. I was most high on him when they drafted Dalquist because how athletic he was and room to grow into his body. I do think Fangraphs might not be up to date on Mena and the progress he made.

The writeup on Kath wasn’t good. Also, Fangraphs are down on how we are developing our younger arms and in the organization.

Benintendi perfect fit in the 2 hole. Love that we don’t have to worry about Eloy having to play the field anymore. Also, love that we finally spent money instead of depleting our farm system in a trade. Let’s cross our fingers and hope the Sox can add some pitching and OF depth for injuries to arise. Our lack of minor league depth in Triple A has killed us for the past decade.
