QUOTE (Bigsoxhurt35 @ May 11, 2015 -> 07:29 PM) Semien isn't going to light the world on fire. Maybe he'll end up something decent, but he's worth trading at this point. He absolutely tore up the minors and he's currently giving large value in the majors, through both hitting and baserunning, and would be even more valuable for us as we'd be able to fit him in a spot where we have more need and where he's better defensively. Don't think 6 cheap years of that was even worth peak Samardzija but it sure as s*** isn't worth this version.

QUOTE (Bigsoxhurt35 @ May 11, 2015 -> 07:24 PM) Losing Semien and Phegley doesn't hurt my feelings. At least we tried. Keep trying. Why doesn't losing Semien hurt
-
He didn't even bother throwing Avi the ball in the zone once there
-
Pitchers hitting is so bad

QUOTE (daggins @ May 11, 2015 -> 06:55 PM) Well, this is the worst possible scenario for the Samardzija trade. Semien is great and Shark is a disaster. No comp pick at the end of the season. We'll get the comp pick. He'll improve enough that he'll be worth 1 year, $14m. Still a really bad trade. EDIT: This assumes we don't trade him.

QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ May 11, 2015 -> 06:50 PM) Question, where do you find those stats at? http://www.fangraphs.com/statss.aspx?playe...n=P#pitchvalues

QUOTE (fathom @ May 11, 2015 -> 05:43 PM) And that to me seems insane, as it was always his splitter that was his go-to K pitch. Well according to the data, he only started throwing the splitter in 2012 and since then it's been almost as good as his slider on a per 100 pitches basis (0.95 runs above average compared to 1.03). He just hasn't thrown it as much so the slider's been a good bit more valuable overall. Though as I said the stats don't like his slider this year so far.
-
QUOTE (fathom @ May 11, 2015 -> 05:38 PM) Not sure what the stats show, but when I watched him on the Cubs, he dominated when it was just fastballs and then splitters. His slider has always been a mediocre pitch it seems. Stats show the slider as being his best pitch, but it's rated poorly this year

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 11, 2015 -> 06:35 PM) He was at 0.00 dWAR before that play. Probably fall to -0.01, right behind Semien, who's at 0.00 still. Around 18th in the majors. Speaking of Semien.....
-
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 11, 2015 -> 08:22 AM) He's also on pace to make 46 errors at SS. Firstly we wouldn't be playing him at short, we'd be playing him at second where he's probably above average. Secondly errors are not a great way to judge a defender, he's not been great at SS, but he's held his own, with his offence being more than enough to compensate. It was a bad trade.

What should the White Sox do with Carlos Rodon?

QUOTE (bmags @ May 10, 2015 -> 10:45 PM) I'll take 5 over the 6.5 we are sporting now. I'll take a bag of s*** with a face drawn on at catcher over what we have there right now but I wouldn't be happy with it -

QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ May 10, 2015 -> 09:20 PM) 3 or 4 runs over 6-7 wouldn't be bad for a 5th starter Yes it would be, that's an ERA of nearly 5 -
Semien hit two homers today. .307/.353/.488. Gave up 6 years of control of him + 3 interesting pieces for 1 year of Samardzija and a possibly interesting reliever. Sigh. EDIT: And two homers off King Felix at that.
-
Shame. Had nice numbers. Remember reading a piece he wrote for FutureSox detailing his determination to make it to the majors. Must be a really bad injury.
-
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 10, 2015 -> 03:44 PM) LaRoche has an OBP about .355. The lack of power though has meant he's only been around league average. Gillaspie's been about 10% below league average. Probably not worth it if Abreu's as big a butcher as he probably would be.

QUOTE (Stan Bahnsen @ May 10, 2015 -> 08:51 PM) Rather disappointed in seeing EJohnson slipping in these past couple performances - needs to get it going again. At least the strikeouts are there, unlike last year

Give Beckham a Long Term Deal Today!
Feeky Magee replied to sin city sox fan's topic in Pale Hose Talk
6/75? Might as well spit in his face. OP is Beckham-hating scum. -
I saw the ball bouncing in bounds and then not again until very little time left. Shocked they put time on. Maybe I'm wrong and it hit the line but I don't think so.
-
Anderson's at AA though and we actually have to be careful with him. Alvarez is someone not many consider a prospect. I admit it's controversial but at the moment he's too good for A-ball and there's no way to move him up bar move a higher prospect, jump him two levels or move him off the position.
-
QUOTE (flavum @ May 10, 2015 -> 02:39 PM) Real life, not spreadsheets So in real life you wouldn't be more comfortable with Robertson pitching with the tying/leading run on rather than Duke and then Robertson pitching with the bases empty?
-
Should put Robertson in if a second man gets on base. Higher-leverage than starting the 9th with the bases empty.
-
Might be controversial but I wouldn't actually mind skipping Alvarez to AAA. He's completely torn up A-ball in consecutive years, there's no space for him at A+ or AA, and the shortstop at AAA has no major league potential (imo). He doesn't have anything more to do in A-ball and moving him off shortstop isn't good for his value. Worst case scenario he craters at AAA and you can send him back to A-ball and just move him up whenever Anderson/Rondon move up. Best case scenario he does nicely and you know you've got something.

5/9 Reds @ White Sox Doubleheader
Feeky Magee replied to BaconOnAStick's topic in 2015 Season in Review
QUOTE (Condor13 @ May 9, 2015 -> 08:32 PM) I personally would have Eaton steal. Him and Micah are really the only ones who should try 60% steal rate in the majors. Break-even is about 70. -
QUOTE (Feeky Magee @ May 9, 2015 -> 07:25 PM) Eddy Alvarez 2 for 3, 2B, 3B, BB Now homers, was only a single away from the second cycle of the night
