QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 3, 2014 -> 10:19 AM) Dude has got a REALLY long swing. It is obvious why he can crush MiLB pitching, but not MLB pitching. It was really long alright. More annoyed that we'd give up Sanchez for him and then release him when he overperformed expectations. I was intrigued by Sanchez, I respect NS72's opinion and maybe he is org filler, but he has put up really nice K:BB numbers everywhere, I would have been interested in shoving him up a few levels.

The last time Montero had the BABIP luck Flowers did last season, he was worth 4.6 WAR, and that probably underestimated him by a lot because he's a great framer Steamer has him projected for 3 WAR (again, consider framing) and Flowers for 0.9 (framing to be considered here too but not as much) He'd be an unquestionable upgrade

Bit annoying this, traded an intriguing prospect for him and then he crushes AAA and holds his own in the majors and we lose him

Alejandro De Aza has outWARed Aoki every year

2014 Draft Report Card from Baseball America
Feeky Magee replied to NorthSideSox72's topic in FutureSox Board
Trexler gets another mention here, on Kiley McDaniel's prospect chat: 12:40 When is the White Sox prospect piece due to go up? Any teasers? 12:41 Kiley McDaniel: Phillies, Reds and White Sox research is all basically done, but I'm in the middle of a 17-day trip with games everyday, so it'll be a little hit and miss to promise what days they'll go up. Tyler Danish and Spencer Adams are both favorites and David Trexler is the super sleeper. http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/kiley-mcdan...ts-chat-102414/ -
2014 Draft Report Card from Baseball America

Is there a grade/ranking system? If so how did the Sox do? Any whispers/guesses on where Trexler starts next year? -
QUOTE (GreenSox @ Oct 18, 2014 -> 11:29 PM) No Peavy, Floyd...why not De Aza. Mercy! Floyd and De Aza > Danks and Viciedo

De Aza is just a good ballplayer. Shame a lot on here couldn't see it.

QUOTE (ottawa_sox @ Sep 20, 2014 -> 12:56 PM) He has the arm and wheels to acquit himself nicely as a right fielder. It's just strange to me that someone can say this when he's rated as just about the single worst defensive player in all of baseball in terms of defensive runs saved per inning. I know there's issues with sample size and reliability, but they're not missing him by so much so that he's anything close to decent, the eye test will tell you that too. I've had a look back and there's not really an example of anyone who has graded as poorly as Avi early in their career and gone on to be considered a decent defensive player. Yoenis Cespedes to an extent, and he still wasn't rated nearly as badly.
-
His defence has graded out as utterly horrendous this year. In just 339 innings he's managed to be worth over -8 runs. This after being put at over -11 runs in 551 innings last year. Over a full year's worth of innings that would make him the single solitary worst defensive player in the major leagues. This has meant that despite hitting at almost league-average level for the Sox, he's been worth -0.8 fWAR. Now I know that a) he's young and b) defensive statistics aren't perfect, but I think it's fairly obvious he's a butcher out there and I'm not too optimistic about it improving to a playable level. Time for a move to DH?

Generous hit aside, Eaton is on fire

Goodbye sweet prince xox

Sale was always due to start giving up more homers.

QUOTE (kapzk @ Aug 29, 2014 -> 09:24 PM) Felix Hernandez getting rocked tonight, 4 Hr and 5er given up so far in 4 innings ... anyone think there's a possibility Sale can take the Cy Young away from Felix? At least his xFIP will be alright

This is the kind of game I'm not too bummed out about losing. The core pieces rake, and the main thing that loses us the game is the performance of a non-core piece.

QUOTE (flavum @ Aug 29, 2014 -> 09:41 PM) He played injured all year. I'm not saying he's a lock to be great right away, but he was on the fast track, and they'll have room for him. If it was all year, it didn't hold him back too much at AA. Marcus is absolutely raking at Charlotte, assuming his BB:K ratio is somewhat improved when he comes up from his previous MLB level, I'm giving him the inside track. Give players time to master a level. Stop rushing them.

QUOTE (peavy44 @ Aug 29, 2014 -> 09:37 PM) Micah Johnson second base next year. He ain't ready yet. 87 wRC+ at AAA.

Hit a double after I posted that, the glasses are back baby! Probably just needed them altered a bit.

QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 29, 2014 -> 09:27 PM) Marcus Semien A decent candidate, but I'd give Marcus the inside track for the starting 2B job, really not sure if Sanchez's bat holds up.

FutureSox: The 2015 Infield Traffic Jam

QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Aug 29, 2014 -> 03:31 PM) Personally, I'd love to move Alexei this offseason because I think there will be a good market for him. With Beckham out of the picture, I give Semien the inside track to the 2B job, Micah time to get back to health in AAA, and let Leury and Sanchez duke it out for the full-time job at SS. Both of those guys deserve a long look, IMO, and in the worst case scenario that neither of them hit at all, we at least know that Leury can hold it down defensively for 2015. Unfortunately for Saladino, he's got to play his way into a spot in Spring Training or hope that some injuries/ineffectiveness combine to give him a shot during the season. Ideally, he's full-time SS in Charlotte with Sanchez up at the big league level, giving Micah plenty of reps at 2B. If Davidson continues to struggle, Gillaspie regresses, and Micah performs, Semien can shift to 3B and when Micah is ready to take a stab at 2B. I'm not worried about Rondon at the moment -- he has plenty of learning to do on the offensive side. I agree with all of this, except no no no absolutely not to Leury Garcia as anywhere near being the full-time SS. -
QUOTE (Soxfest @ Aug 29, 2014 -> 09:22 PM) He has been awful on the defensive side since the Dodger series. He is not a everyday 3rd basemen. He's not an everyday 3rd baseman more because he absolutely cannot hit lefties. If they get him a platoon partner and he hits reasonably close to what he's doing now, he can absolutely be a 3rd baseman for the majority of games going forward, even though his defence will probably limit his value a decent amount.

Adam Eaton over his last 18 games: .449/.480/.580

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 29, 2014 -> 07:53 PM) At the time, it was an accurate statement. It was the absence of a "right now" I found amusing. Either way, his good streaks and bad streaks have added up to a line of .232/.293/.347. And a BABIP still of .350+. Even with his good defence/framing, I fear that's just not gonna be good enough when a few less shanks drop in/he starts hitting a few less line drives.

Tyler over his last 20 games: .125/.210/.179. 3% walks, 38% strikeouts (4 hit-by-pitches).
