  1. The only bright spot for us yesterday was the play of Tashard Choice. Over 150 total yards from scrimmage, and next year we'll have him, Barber and Felix Jones as our 3 RB's, wow. Offensive line needs to be a key in the off-season for the Cowboys. If healthy Kosier will be back at LG, but I wouldn't mind an upgrade at the T spots, or to take one nice and early in the draft.
  2. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 5, 2008 -> 10:24 PM) Frankly, if I'm trading Bobby, with the damage we've already done to our rotation in terms of innings-eating...I want Gallardo, or Parra + another guy. Our hole now is innings from our starters. We need a major league ready starting pitcher. I'd be interested to see who Melvin rates higher actually, Gallardo coming off major knee surgery or Parra who had a pretty decent 1st season in the majors. I agree with your thinking though.
  3. Hart's K/BB ratio scares me a bit. I'd be after these players; Manny Parra - 10-8, 4.39 ERA, 147/75 K/BB ratio. Yovani Gallardo - 1.87 ERA in 4 starts. Cole Gillespie - 21 y.o OF prospect. .281/.386/.472 in AA. Caleb Gindl - 19 y.o OF spect. .302/.388/.474 in A ball. Jeremy Jeffress - 4.08 ERA in A ball.
  4. Do what you can to get Sundin, and this team becomes a contender in the West. All depends on Huet's form over the next month I feel though. If he can show that he can handle the load, Khabibulin should be dealt for picks / prospects.
  5. QUOTE (scenario @ Dec 5, 2008 -> 01:49 PM) I think for every post you've made criticizing KW for offering arbitration... there would be 5 posts criticizing him if we didn't and missed out on the picks. Bingo. At least that's what people have been complaining about on here at exactly this point a year or 2 ago.
  6. The person above me should stop hogging this thread.
  7. False. I will be spending my first weekend in Manhattan for a month actually. The person below me will be eating from a street vendor at lunch, which is what I'll be doing.
  8. My guess is, he doesn't play again for Dallas anyways (especially if the team does well when he's not playing).
  9. My guess is, he doesn't play again for Dallas anyways (especially if the team does well when he's not playing).
  10. QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 5, 2008 -> 12:08 PM) Disappointing that he won't try to become a hitter. Next thing you know, people will pencil him into the #5 spot. I'd be shocked if KW doesn't add another SP from here. This team would just be in a better position IMHO, if they let Richard be the swingman, and let Marquez and a FA/trade guy come in for those last 2 spots. If they don't work out, you can either move Richard into the rotation, or give that spot to Contreras when he is healthy.
  11. Are there any good web-sites to buy College Football Merchandise?
  12. QUOTE (scenario @ Dec 5, 2008 -> 10:38 AM) Man... if the Mariners non-tender Bedard, that trade will make a few "worst ever" lists, won't it? Brutal. The wonders of Bill Bavasi. How he ever lasted so long as the M's GM I'll never know.
  13. The person above me would be very close to having the most posts in SLaM.
  14. I don't particuarly like the idea at all. Reminds me of the Wes Helms situation, where he moved on to Philly and was terrible. Think Cantu would do the same. He had a .699 OPS in 2006, hardly played in 2007, and then had a decent enough season in 2008. He's a low OBP type of power hitter, his numbers Post ASB were slightly down, and away from Florida he had a .694 OPS this season. I would stay far, far away, and I hope it's just a rumor and nothing more.
  15. Just got back from the Rutgers game. Louisville played the worst defense I've ever seen. Mike Teel could of thrown 10 TD's tonight if he wanted to.
  16. QUOTE (scenario @ Dec 4, 2008 -> 01:26 PM) Later in his conversation with Holmes/Hampton, he said he thought the likelihood of a Dye-Jenks deal with the Mets was not high. In fact, he questioned where the rumor even came from. Then he introduced a rumor of his own... said he wouldn't be surprised to see the Sox talking to St. Louis... offering minor league pitching prospects for Colby Rasmus. I've give up quite a bit to get Rasmus, but I doubt the Cards will trade him (more likely to get rid of Ludwick or Ankiel first I would have thought). Still if you offered Poreda and more prospects for him, I wonder what the Cards would say.
  17. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Dec 4, 2008 -> 01:43 PM) Jessie Rodgers just stated that on a conference call with Kenny, he asked what happens if Cabrera accepts arbitration. Kenny stated that Alexei is our SS, and one of the young guys will be our 2nd baseman. If Cabrera comes back, he will be on the bench. A $10M bench player. FWIW, I think the Sox still made the right move in offering OC arbitration. They just have to hope, that with Renteria and Wilson both off the market, a team in desperate need of a SS is going to come crawling towards OC. I still think Minny may be the best best, but not if they sign Blake, so you have to hope that the Dodgers re-sign him. It looks like the A's are going to sign Furcal, so count them out. The Angels could be a wildcard, but they got decent enough production from Izturis and co. in 2008. Would the Blue-Jays look at him possibly (I think Scutaro is their starting SS ATM)? The Cards have just acquired Khalil Greene so count them out.
  18. I found this about Arbitration (don't know if it says anything about trading someone who accepts though);
  19. BigSqwert was apparently at the Sox game that I went to.
  20. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Dec 4, 2008 -> 12:33 PM) Once people notice this I bet they get real hot. My only hope is this was leaked to force an interested party into making a multi-year offer. My guess is if he does sign, KW does what he can to trade him. It's the worst case scenario for the Sox right here though. And with the Tigers trading for Wilson, what type of a market is there for OC ATM?
  21. There's another team out of the OC race. With the Dodgers not having any interest in OC, there may not be much of a market out there for him besides Minnesota (but if they sign Blake, I can't see them then going after OC).
  22. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 4, 2008 -> 11:36 AM) I think if enough payroll is cleared, KW wants Derek Lowe. Wasn't he supposedly a target when they were dangling OC this past summer? Lowe would be the 1 pitcher who would fit perfectly at the Cell FWIW. He's likely to get above 4/60 from either the Red Sox, Mets or Yankees though.
