QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Nov 9, 2008 -> 07:25 PM) Roy and Aldridge look pretty damn good. Yeah they do. Portland really did well in that draft and with acquiring all the talent that they have.
-
I know I was a Savvy backer, but Q has this team firing on all cylinders right now and seems to have taken them to the next level.
-
If the Sox traded Jenks, I wonder if they would make a run at K-Rod or Fuentes possibly?
-
All depends on the $$$ of course. The top 2 lines are working pretty well ATM, although you could easily move Brouwer down to the 3rd line and Byfueglien back to a D-Man.

I'm surprised by the lack of talk about the Braves

I made a post about Johnson in another thread. He's a pretty consistent 2Bman, who'll put up an .800 OPS for us I'm sure, and has pretty decent OBP numbers. Atlanta wants a RH power hitting OF, so they could be in the market for Dye. Any thoughts of a Dye for Johnson type of swap, and then going after Abreu possibly? -
Hmmmm; Dye for Johnson + something else maybe?

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 5, 2008 -> 11:01 PM) Gooden shot 4/13 from the floor and logged 40 minutes. Tyrus and Noah together logged about 24 minutes, and Gray logged 2. In other words, for more than half the game, we had a small lineup on the floor. There was a good article on Yahoo the other day about Del Negro basically using an European Style offense, and guys like Thomas and Deng are struggling because they're forced to hoist up way more jump shots instead of slashing to the rim.

QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Nov 5, 2008 -> 05:52 PM) Who is pretty much a lame duck and will be able to get nothing done, because how dare the Democrats do anything good BEFORE thier man gets in the office. Although he was unable to get anything done before, because how dare the democrats let a republican president get credit for anything good. Wouldn't say GWB hasn't really done anything to deserve credit for his time in office.
-
Sorry to hear that Alex. My dog's 13 I think also, and I don't think he's got more than a couple of years left in him either. You do grow pretty attached to em for sure.
-
Cora is getting closer and closer to a job it seems. He wasn't suited for the 3B role obviously, but I think he's done pretty well as the bench coach. He'd be hard to replace there.
-
He had OPS's away from PETCO above .800 in both 06 and 07, but he was just absolutely terrible in 2008. Still he could be a decent buy low candidate depending on the price. I'd probably rather give us less for him than say to acquire a J.J Hardy for instance.

Boras and his ilk looking for ways to avoid potential Obama taxes

Hence why he's asking for a 4/52 contract for Jason Varitek coming off his worst offensive season then. -
QUOTE (kyyle23 @ Nov 5, 2008 -> 12:24 PM) LOL, after all the time, money and talk invested in Pacman, you think they are gonna cut him loose already? Yep. Jerry won't care who he brings in / chucks out, so long as he thinks he's upgrading (regardless of talent) etc. Depending on the contract, I'd be for it anyways. Henry will probably retire soon, and you probably need at least 3 good CB's in the NFL today. Hall hasn't been playing well for the last 2-3 seasons though.
-
I'm thinking Jerry Jones goes after Hall and cuts PacMan Jones loose. Walker will certainly get a gig somewhere. Maybe the Titans?
-
Troops out of Iraq and into Afghanistan. And he's going to ask America's Allies (Australia definitely) for a troop increase in Afghanistan also.

I ended up spending the majority of the night at a Young Democrats event in a bar in Midtown, Manhattan. When the 11PM results came in, with Califorina etc. and Obama becoming President Elect, the place just went absolutely nuts. Was great to see and be there to experience. We also got into a big Democrats Function at the Sheraton. Here are all these people in suits etc., and I'm walking around with an Anti - Sarah Palin shirt on. Safe to say, it got quite a few positive reactions. Times Square was crazy at about 1:30 in the morning or so, just with people chanting, music being played, hundreds and hundreds of cops everywhere.
-
That's just hilarious. He's completely lost the plot (although those players should have never gotten those contracts in the 1st place).

What will be Kenny's signature move of 08-09?

If Atlanta doesn't end up with Peavy, I could see them maybe making a run at Vaz as a backup option. -

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 4, 2008 -> 03:59 PM) But here's the rub...Washington's best player and face of their franchise missed 1/3 of last season and hasn't put up a >.800 OPS in 2 years. If you're Washington though, you're trying to build from within, and it's not like they are a very good hitting team regardless. They'd have to be blown away to deal Zim IMHO. -

QUOTE (knightni @ Nov 4, 2008 -> 02:29 PM) Rickie Weeks would be a bad acquisition, he's poor offensively and defensively. I'd love to see KW unload Vazquez to Washington for Zimmerman and prospects, then send Dye to SF for Jonathan Sanchez. Uh, I'd say we'd have to be the team throwing in the prospects to get Zimmerman. He's argubly Washington's best player and the face of their franchise. -
QUOTE (Soxy @ Nov 4, 2008 -> 02:41 PM) 70%. I think this means I am something of a news junkie. . . 48%. Not too bad for a non - American I'd say.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 4, 2008 -> 12:49 PM) This site is showing them with about a million bucks. http://nhlnumbers.com/overview.php?team=NJD&season=0809 It's not really worth it for them to be trading for Khabi I'd say, unless they had to put Brodeur on IR. I still think he'll end up in Ottawa.
-
That's a BIG loss for the Devils. Wonder what their salary cap situation is ATM.

QUOTE (joeynach @ Nov 4, 2008 -> 12:25 PM) Acquisitions of Jon Garland, Roberto Alomar, and Carl Everett. I didn't know Garland was approaching 40 anytime soon?
