Gotta get out of this inning before more damage is done.

The Opening Music needs work. Eh. I guess it's not THAT bad.

Well we've struggled against Santana again, but that's nothing new. It's almost time to stack the lineup with just LHH's, and a righty here or there who can actually hit lefties well and have a good record against Johan. Johan's splits against lefties are worse than against righties, so it's certainly worth considering. Look at the numbers over the past 3 seasons; AVG OBP SLG OPS vs RH .199 .246 .327 .573 vs LH .233 .273 .393 .666 Baltimore had 5 lefties in the lineup against him and went 4 for 12, with 4 doubles and 2 walks. That's better than nothing.

QUOTE(EvilJester99 @ Apr 8, 2007 -> 08:44 PM) Good news though.. Edmonton beat Calgary...3 - 2...so theres a shot. ATM they are still behind us on the standings though, even though they're equal with us on points. Don't know if you have a tie-breaker or something, or if it comes down to head to head record.

Hey if there's a way to increase revenue for this ballclub, I'm all for it. And that extra few mill, if it goes into the payroll, could be the difference in signing a player and not missing out.
-
Eggy doin his thing; 6IP, 2H's, 1BB, 0ER and 12K's for B-Ham. If he keeps throwing like that, he'll be up in Charlotte sooner rather than later.
-
Jose's rotating as the 3rd starter for Kanny; 1st outing, 5IP, 4K's, 2BB's and 0ER.

If KW trades for a minor league leadoff man, it will be
DBAHO replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Well I'm hoping he won't have to after we sign Ichiro in the off-season. But as for a few possibilities here we go; Erick Aybar - Seems to be the main candidate. Has the defensive skills to stick at SS, and seems capable of hitting leadoff possibly. And I think in the off-season, a Crede deal for Aybar and a pitching spect could be a real possibility. Jeremy Reed - I still think there's a slight chance we could re-acquire him somepoint in the future. Whether he's more suited to a #2 or lower in the order hitter, that's up for discussion. Antoan Richardson - C+ spect from John Sickels. Stole 66 SB's in A ball last season, and had a .381 OBP. From the Giants organization. He's only 22, but needs to hit at higher levels 1st. Lorenzo Cain - Another C+ spect from Sickels. From the Brewers, drafted in the 17th round. .307/.384/.425 in A ball last season, 34 SB's. Sleeper spect with speed and power potential apparently. -
I got a pair of slippers and no eggs.

That Detroit win is going to screw us big time. We're in 6th place, and need Edmonton to beat Calgary (which pretty much ain't gonna happen). So we're not going to make the lottery, and miss out on the likes of Kane in the draft.

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Apr 8, 2007 -> 01:09 PM) I haven't heard much about Zazueta and definitely don't know enough about his stuff to make any sort of assessment but I'd be surprised if he had the type of arm that Cortes has/had. Yeah I haven't heard a great deal about his stuff either, but I was referring to his age, and the level he's at if he can be successful down at Kanny this season.
-
Great performance from Javy. That's what he's capable of, and hopefully we see more of that on a consistent basis this season. A better job of pitching over the past few days, and that's what we need to be successful.
-
QUOTE(danman31 @ Apr 8, 2007 -> 10:25 AM) Winston-Salem got postponed due to cold. Kanny scoreless after 5, Jose Zazueta pitching well. Zazueta's another little sleeper himself. Another Dan Cortes in the making perhaps?

QUOTE(klaus kinski @ Apr 8, 2007 -> 03:12 AM) For all you Hammers fans, West Ham wins a big one against Arsenal today The relegation race is going to be great to watch. We play away at Sheffield United next week in a 6 point game. Also Man Utd lost to Portsmouth, so Chelsea are only 3 points behind now, and they play Man Utd at Stamford Bridge still. One of the better EPL seasons in recent years.

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Apr 6, 2007 -> 06:18 AM) The Gunners will win by 2 or more goals...BOOK IT. Arsenal is getting new ownership as well apprently. Well Jason you need 3 goals now to heed your prediction. EDIT: Win of the season. Robert Green I commend you.

Gio Gonzalez has no hitter throught 5 innings
DBAHO replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Very positive start by Gio. He'll LOVVVVVE pitching in the nice wide confines down at B-Ham compared to where he was last season. He certainly won't be giving up as many HR's. -
QUOTE(caulfield12 @ Apr 6, 2007 -> 01:32 PM) Because they want to save money and Anderson is much cheaper. If we give up Gio and Broadway in one trade, we better get the equivalent of Carl Crawford, not Rocco Baldelli. It's not like that contract is a big hindrance to them though. Rocco's only going to make 600K this season and he can make up to 2.5M in incentives. At this stage of their careers Rocco's a much better player than BA anyway, so unless they're getting a real good pitching spect in the deal, there's not much point in Andrew Friedman pulling the trigger. EDIT: You're also speculating that Elijah Dukes becomes the fulltime CF I assume by saying that Baldelli is a bench player. I don't see that happening.
-
Ha. Khabi makes 56 saves, Bickell scores on his debut, and the Hawks finally beat Detroit in a SO.
-
Dukes looks good early yes, but he's still a major work in progress mental wise. Wouldn't suprise me to see him blow up if things aren't going his way. They've got plenty of IF and OF spects in the system, so they don't have a need for Anderson, even though he would be a good fit for them. What they do need in a big way is quality young pitching. I'd actually offer Broadway to them since I don't think he'll be much more than a 4th/5th starter and see what the D-Rays would actually give up for him.
-
Now's your chance Alan Kalter!!!!!
-
Great job by Masset even though I don't think that's the right role for him. A game we really needed to pick up today, and despite Thornton's struggles again (a little disheartining early), we still got the job done.

QUOTE(fathom @ Apr 5, 2007 -> 04:52 PM) It wasn't just Liriano though. He started playing Punto at 3rd base every day, and he did a great job of keeping Mauer fresh and utilizing Redmond effectively. Neshek, Reyes, Crain, Rincon, and Nathan is a great bullpen though, especially if Reyes puts up a 1.00 ERA again. But then you have to ask are the likes of Nick Punto, Jason Tyner etc. going to hit near .300 again? And a lot of Twins fans don't have a high rating of Gardy, and don't like the way he doesn't platoon players and handles certain areas of the pen. Hey sounds like us with Ozzie now doesn't it.
-
Well considering the lack of activity at the trade deadline over the past 2 seasons, considering the current marketplace of teams and whether or not they think they're still in contention, when there's not much chance............. ummm yeah. But let's have a look at your trade suggestions for the hell of it; Thome for Jon Lester - Boston gives up their best young starting pitcher. After the Sanchez and Ramirez for Beckett fiasco, can't see them going down this path again. They'd have to trade one of Youklis or Lowell as well. Jim Thome for Matt Garza. Bwahaha. Sorry I just fell of my chair, and have sustained permanent next and back injuries. Anyways, Minnesota operate under payroll constraints. They have Justin Morneau. Michael Cuddyer can play 1B. Garza is their best young pitcher, and we're division rivals. .00000000000000001% chance of happening. Joe Crede for Ervin Santana OR Joe Saunders. Or Joe Saunders? The Joe Saunders who's probably not going to be anything more than a 4th/5th starter. You're also 3 months too late on the Crede for Santana bandwagon, which has now left the building. Jermaine Dye for Lastings Milledge. Now don't forget we already have Brian Anderson and Ryan Sweeney. If anything, if you were going to trade with the Mets, I'd think it'd be for either Phillip Humber or Mike Pelfrey. Jon Garland for Phillip Hughes. Good lord.
