QUOTE(AnthraxFan93 @ Mar 16, 2005 -> 03:15 AM) That is what I am here for.. Irradiator 1)i) To expose to radiation. ii) To treat with radiation: irradiate farm produce so as to destroy bacteria. 2) To shed light on; illuminate. 3) To manifest in a manner suggesting the emission of light; radiate: irradiate goodness.

QUOTE(Heads22 @ Mar 16, 2005 -> 10:32 AM) They made one basket. That should count for a loss then.

That last headline just had me laughing. Wood and Prior for 40 wins, yeah right.

Never heard of the second guy, so I'm going with McMahon.

Carlos Lee hurt; Olivo full-time starter

QUOTE(qwerty @ Mar 15, 2005 -> 02:39 PM) Except he is a waste of one million dollars. Timo and Davis take up about 3.5% of the payroll. Now there's an argument to build on. -
Pretty much at the moment, Kevin Walker = Kelly Wunsch Clone at Charlotte. That contract goes up about $500,000 too if he makes the 25 man roster at some point IIRC.

QUOTE(Yoda @ Mar 15, 2005 -> 08:45 AM) True. I am still surprised that we have Freddy Garcia in our team. He had Yankee written all over him at the trading deadline, but out of nowhere comes Kenny with a big trade acquiring him (Garcia) and Davis. Jeremy Reed > Dioner Navarro. That made the difference really. -

QUOTE(SuperSteve @ Mar 15, 2005 -> 05:55 AM) Freddy and Ben > MO and Reed IMHO still. It's alright Steve. You can leave out Davis, doesn't make much of a difference really. -
QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Mar 15, 2005 -> 02:34 PM) No ODU??? They have two aussies on their team. Don't forget GT either with that Schlerser dude. But Utah and Bogut and going to OWN all of their asses anyways so it doesn't make much of a difference.

QUOTE(YASNY @ Mar 15, 2005 -> 02:27 PM) Well, with that post you are using other arguments which have some validity. That first post was kind of "out there". It could have been worse if I said someone like Freddy Garcia I suppose.

Utah, Fair Dickenson, Montana, UCF.

QUOTE(YASNY @ Mar 15, 2005 -> 02:24 PM) I find that statement highly unlikely. One bad day at the beginning of ST doesn't ruin a guys chances. I know, but he didn't have much of a chance to begin with, which was what I was trying to say. And with Walker doing well so far, Munoz ain't going to be in our bullpen at the start of the season. End of Story.

QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Mar 15, 2005 -> 02:19 PM) i dont know how many times i need to say it, i dont give a damn how our players do in spring training, and Ozzie knows that spring training is not even close to the real deal. I suppose we should send Garland and Contreras to the minors too right and idonno hasnt Dye been struggling les send him down to AAA and put Borchard as our RF because spring training means so much. The difference is Contreras and Garland have guaranteed spots on the 25 man roster, Munoz doesn't. It's exactly like last year, when there was 1 spot open in the bullpen, and Jon Adkins had such a great Spring Training, he pretty much forced himself onto the team. For those borderline guys fighting for a spot, performances in ST can be important even though much shouldn't be taken into it.

QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Mar 15, 2005 -> 01:44 PM) if Cotts gets sent down to work as a starter i rather see Arnie Munoz up instead of Walker, Munoz lost any chance he had of making the bullpen with his 1st performance in Spring Training.
-
QUOTE(EvilJester99 @ Mar 15, 2005 -> 01:35 PM) If the Sox want Cotts to get back to being a starter maybe they will keep Walker up and send Cotts back to AAA. Only way I see him making the big club...unless Marte keeps struggling all year. . Even if last season was an off year for Marte he was still insane against lefties with them only hitting .143 against him. And a 3.42 ERA isn't too bad at all for what many thought was a down year for Damaso.

I'm in, I decided to only spend $26M though. Hopefully my younger sleeper guys can come through.

QUOTE(beck72 @ Mar 15, 2005 -> 01:16 AM) Seems the D-Rays are looking for both LH bat who can DH and play the OF, and someone to play 2b. Joe B and/or Willie for some young pitching? http://www.sptimes.com/2005/03/14/Rays/Pin...ll_wants_.shtml ******************************************** Piniella still wants a left-handed bat By MARC TOPKIN, Times Staff Writer Published March 14, 2005 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ST. PETERSBURG - Manager Lou Piniella likes what he has seen from the players in camp. Now he would like to see the Rays add a proven left-handed hitter to the group. "I think that's what we need more than anything," Piniella said. "We're talking about a frontline bat, about a guy who can come in here and swing it." Ideally, the Rays would like someone who has power and could play the outfield occasionally and/or share at-bats with right-hander Josh Phelps at DH. They had a similar goal during the offseason and talked about players such as Baltimore's Jay Gibbons and Washington's Nick Johnson , but didn't make a deal. The Rays seem to have a surplus of pitching, including some who are young and inexpensive, and it's likely a trade would come from their pool of relievers. The Rays also are looking for another infielder, either a utilityman or a second baseman, to provide an alternative should Roberto Alomar 's back problems linger. General manager Chuck LaMar said he expects to make at least one trade before opening day, and that the Rays had some "wiggle room" to add to their approximate $30-million payroll, but cautioned that it's unusual to make a big-name deal in the spring. "The arms on our pitching staff have created the most interest because (other teams) know we're not going to give up the young position players," LaMar said. "We're looking for some help. I don't want to make it out when I say that we're going to make a trade that it will be this blockbuster. This time of year, those guys aren't out there. You're looking for a veteran bat of some type. I don't think you can be too choosy whether it's a power guy or average guy, but we could use a left-handed bat. You're trying to make the best deal you can." Aubrey Huff for Nick Johnson + outfielder or pitching prospect perhaps?

Interesting Hardball Times Article here about which players they think will improve on last season and who will go the other way. They think Buerhle's ERA will increase from 3.89 to 4.41. http://www.hardballtimes.com/main/article/...es-could-speak/
