  1. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Mar 22, 2005 -> 01:40 PM) Aye, Hinrich will not be a problem. If we trade Curry for ATL's 1st we can draft Bogut. I would wet myself at that chance. I saw a proposal last night that had sending Steve Francis to Atlanta for their 1st so we could draft Bogut. I almost fainted with joy.
  2. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Mar 22, 2005 -> 01:37 PM) well if you have your wish.... and les say we trade Curry to atlanta for their 1st rounder... and resign Chandler i hope. What would you do this offseason to not only find a low post scorer but find a guy who can shoot more and Hinrich shoot less. Sign Sam Dalembert. Draft another big to join the rotation. Could always sign Bobby Simmonds for the MLE.
  3. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Mar 22, 2005 -> 01:20 PM) did i say i wanted JC back instead of Hinrich......... im just saying he needs to take les shots per game because it isnt helping the team on offense. I suppose the argument there then is who should be getting more shots then?
  4. QUOTE(Cerbaho-WG @ Mar 22, 2005 -> 11:07 AM) Bowden is interested in Borchard? Christ, trade him to Bowden ASAP! Bowden will overpay on anything, just look at Vinny Castilla and Cristian Guzman. Jim Bowden toolsy outfielders, he'll do almost anythin he can to get his hands on one... or two.... or three. There's been rumors he could give up Zach Day for Wily Mo Pena. And the Mets have been rumored to be interested in having Alex Escobar back as well. But it's probably just speculation, nothing more.
  5. QUOTE(qwerty @ Mar 22, 2005 -> 12:20 PM) If b-mac comes up here for good wouldn't that be awesome that he could potentially be gone when he is 27? Thank you. We don't want a Jeremy Bonderman or Zack Greinke situation on our hands here, which I why I wanted B-Mac to actually spend the whole year in the minors, you've got 5 starting pitchers and if they all perform, there's no need to call B-Mac up. But things are looking up on the Buerhle perspective. Let's hope it's not a break, the torn ligament seems to be pretty far off now, and hopefully Mark can be back throwing and be ready. If he only has to miss 1 start, well they might as well give it to Cotts or Hermanson because there's really no need to call B-Mac up just for that, especially if he gets bombed like Alex has said.
  6. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Mar 22, 2005 -> 02:00 AM) Your crazy. However, if Bmac comes on strong, it make KW have to get pretty creative...A trade with Contreras in the mix is likley, but I don't see Mil going with it. Which teams out there though are going to. A - Want Jose Contreras for their rotation? B - Want Jose Contreras for their bullpen? C - Want the Sox to pay half of his remaining deal? Better start narrowing those teams down.
  7. QUOTE(quickman @ Mar 22, 2005 -> 02:06 AM) garcia ptiches on the 4th, then pitches on the 9th (5 days later) then ptiches on the 14th. (5days later0 Please help me understand why this math doesn't work. My bad, I forgot we had a game on the 4th (must be too late down here... 2a.m yikes). But anyways back on the topic at hand, this is how the schedule plays out, 4th - Garcia 6th - Contreras 7th - Hernandez 8th - Garland 9th - Garcia 10th - Contreras 11th - Hernandez Looks like Jose and El Duque would only go off 3 days rest in that scenario.
  8. QUOTE(quickman @ Mar 22, 2005 -> 02:01 AM) Steff they would not need a fifth starter until the 18th. they are off on the fifth and the 12th. they can go with a four man rotation on five days rest until the 18th. thats where I get it from. What about the 11th? Wouldn't the #1 starter in Garcia be going off 3 days rest? And also, Buerhle's not going to just come straight back into the rotation when he's healthy. He's going to have to throw some innings down at the minors to iron out the kinks first.
  9. QUOTE(quickman @ Mar 22, 2005 -> 01:51 AM) Don't be so quick, they have days off the first two weeks, they would actually be working on five days rest. now think about it. Still, the Sox want El Duque as fresh as possible in August and September, and having a 4 man rotation wouldn't help this, even though they'd have some off days. Also if you have a 4 man rotation, how many pitchers do you carry? Do you give someone like Cotts the emergency 5th starter role if B-Mac isn't called up. How about the bench situation?
  10. There's always some other alternatives out there from some other teams like Hideo Nomo who's probably not going to make the Devil Rays rotation or Ryan Franklin from the Mariners who may not either. Not saying it's a better situation than having B-Mac starting, just saying KW may try to cover all of his bases first.
  11. Call me crazy. B-Mac holds his own, KW tries to sell Milwaulkee on the idea of trading Jose Contreras plus half of his remaining salary plus Brian Anderson and another prospect for Ben Sheets. And no I don't think Jose could handle being a closer. We all know what he's like with runners on base. Not a good situation for a closer or a reliever in general.
  12. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Mar 22, 2005 -> 01:22 AM) No one seems to be factoring the US Cellular factor when it comes to Mark. His home numbers destroy any hopes of having a decent looking ERA. Absolutely. If he pitched for say San Diego, he could of had a better ERA than Jake Peavy did last season, which would really be quite insane.
  13. QUOTE(Steff @ Mar 22, 2005 -> 01:45 AM) No offense to you Brandon.. but this is a mistake IMO. Are there any better alternatives though? I guess the Sox have to decide if its worth to have short - term gain that could sacrifice some long - term gain.
  14. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Mar 22, 2005 -> 01:42 AM) Hasselback would be a solid back up. I wouldn't want him starting, but he works coming off of the bench. Any word on who is interested in Quincy Carter? Jon Gruden and the Bucs. Other teams see QC as a cancer, JG just sees the word oppurtunity instead.
  15. QUOTE(quickman @ Mar 22, 2005 -> 01:42 AM) No we are not, just heard Williams on ESPN 1000- Its a break and he said he is out 4-6 weeks. From the man. So what it's about 2 weeks approx until Opening Day. So Buerhle could miss only about 2 to 4 weeks of time in that scenario? That seems to best case one to me.
  16. It's gangrene and his foot has to come off.
  17. QUOTE(quickman @ Mar 22, 2005 -> 01:34 AM) Now they are calling it a broken bone just updated. Let's certainly hope so again, although I guess we won't know officially for a little while yet.
  18. QUOTE(quickman @ Mar 22, 2005 -> 01:19 AM) bruce on right now. Preliminary report is ligment damage or a small break. More to come. Thanks for keeping us updated too quickman. Much appreciated.
  19. Dayn Perry. I'm sorry but if you've read some of his material, you'll know this doesn't even come close to a worthy prediction at all.
  20. QUOTE(elrockinMT @ Mar 21, 2005 -> 02:37 PM) What I would like to know is, if Diaz was lifted for Adkins was Diaz injured? Adkins has not been sharp this spring. Looks like Diaz got injured;
  21. QUOTE(quickman @ Mar 22, 2005 -> 01:00 AM) ESPN is now saying torn ligament as well. He was shagging fly balls yesterday and tore it. This is not good. Not good at all.
  22. QUOTE(quickman @ Mar 22, 2005 -> 12:52 AM) If the ligament is torn it will be two months. He will need to rehab after it heals. This is not good for two reasons, One is he is pitching great, the other is we play division rivals the first month and need a decent start. As good as bmac has been, he is still 21 and will be very nervous playing in a big stadium agiasnt division rivals. Ok lets go with the broken foot then. All in all it's a huge oppurtunity for B-Mac, one that I'm sure he never saw coming when he started off the year at low A with Kanny last season. It's a worrying sign he hasn't made more than 8 starts at a level higher than B-Ham, but lets hope he can fill in nicely.
