  1. QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Mar 31, 2005 -> 02:26 PM) So 4 million a year is overpaid? I'm pretty sure he signed a 4 or 5 year deal, not a 8 year deal. Bad reporting once again, something that's becoming a common theme with these previews.

    PIZZA!

    QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Mar 31, 2005 -> 02:22 PM) I can't have tobasco sauce on anything. Really hot spicy stuff like that makes me break out in sweats and burns the inside of my mouth. ^^ that. Which is why I won't go near anything Indian, or any really spicy Mexican food etc.
  3. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Mar 31, 2005 -> 02:23 PM) Jim -- can we trust any radio source anymore? ESPN 1000: "Ben will be traded by day's end!" The Score: "Ben Davis has been optioned to Charlotte!" Wrong. Wrong. Absolutely not. Remember the whole Buerhle incident. Torn ligament, broken bone, they had eveything but the amputation of his foot.
  4. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Mar 31, 2005 -> 01:14 PM) Actually I should take it back. I'd have Dwight Howard ahead of Okafor. I think both have such similar numbers, only difference is Howards team is better. I think the vote will be a three headed race (stating the obvious) and who knows who will pull it out. You could make a case for any of them. But Howard always impresses me when I watch him. Imagine if Howard was actually given the ball more on offense, and scored more from normal plays instead of put backs etc, and if he was actually played in the 4th quarter of games. Long - term, he's easily going to be the best player in this draft and I don't think anyone doubts that.
  5. QUOTE(chisoxfan79 @ Mar 31, 2005 -> 01:37 PM) What about the Padres? who is Ramon Hernandez backup? Miguel Ojeda.
  6. QUOTE(JimH @ Mar 31, 2005 -> 01:32 PM) No one can claim him if he's being optioned. The Score updates says he's being optioned. Well that definitely changes things then.
  7. Ok who's some possible teams who are going to claim him;
  8. QUOTE(Sox Hustler @ Mar 31, 2005 -> 01:19 PM) umm, when did Diaz get hurt? In a ST game about a week ago IIRC.
  9. I'm going to say Merriman as well. But this for me is the best case scenario, we take Williamson at #11 and somehow Merriman falls to #20. I don't think that'll happen though.
  10. I'm all for trading Davis is that's at all possible, but I don't think it's going to happen, especially now with Charles Johnson probably on his way to Tampa. Let's hope though if Widger is given the chance to be the backup, he does all the right things, can handle the pitching staff well, and can hit repsectively enough for a backup (hitting at the Cell should help).
  11. Rotoworld has a new fan huh qwerty. Hopefully Crede is starting to get used to his new swing a little better now, I'll gladly take .270, 20 HR's, 70-80 RBI's for him for the season. Whether he can hit for that high of a batting average though, I don't know.
  12. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Mar 31, 2005 -> 12:44 PM) Not discounting him, but I think Okafor does more things. Whose more valuable, Gordon, simply because he's playing for a winning team and has had so many huge 4th quarters. Still, I think you have to look at it that Gordon is a scorer, Okafor is many things and plays starter minutes. I think in the end Gordon's lack of minutes is what will keep him from winning the award. I wouldn't complain if he did though cause it will be a tough choice. Part of me says give it to Gordon simply because he's helping a team into the playoffs. On a sidenote, Wizards win. Things against that though is that Okafor is the #1 scoring option on that team and he's only shooting about 41% IIRC, which isn't too good at all for a PF.

    PIZZA!

    That would be a nay. I just hate anything remotely spicy.
  14. Those are some cool ideas for some names there. I've got a ginger cat, and his name is Nike, mainly because he's got white feet so it looks like he's wearing sneakers (corny I know). He's a real nice sociable cat, but he's too fat and greedy. Here's a pic of him on a mousepad saved from my webcam;
  15. QUOTE(AnthraxFan93 @ Mar 31, 2005 -> 12:46 AM) I was unaware of his injuries this spring training..ANd Maybe .300 a little high But I could see, from the games I watched last year.. Him hitting around .270ish Which is still great if he can get those power numbers... Not like the dude, who made this post calling JM.."Bad". I am sure there are a number of Sox fans, including myself that would love to have JM at 1st for the next 5-7 years, in a Sox Uniform. That all depends on whether he can stay healthy, and how well Morneau hits away from the Dome, Terry Ryan will be very glad he'll have him quite affordable for a while before he hits arbitration.

  17. QUOTE(AnthraxFan93 @ Mar 31, 2005 -> 12:32 AM) Are you on Crack? Morneau, is going to be a f***ing stud. Many have him hitting .300/30/100 This coming year.. and if that is bad.. Please explain what you consider good? What are we suppose to exepct, ESPN bowing dow and turning into Hawk? Until we actaully do something in the Division there is no reason for any TV/Radio Station to give us "props" Morneau will definitely be one of the guys for the Twins who will help them to another division title if he can put up numbers like that. But considering it'll be his 1st full season in the majors, plus after all the injuries and viruses etc. he's had during ST, I don't think he'll hit .300, he's not that good of a contact hitter yet, but power wise 30 HR's and 100 RBI's is certainly viable.
  18. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Mar 31, 2005 -> 12:25 AM) What is the biggest thing down there? Rugby, Cricket, or Soccer I would imagine, right? How big of a following is there for basketball and baseball down there? Down here in my state it would be Aussie Rules Footy without a doubt. I went to a game on Sunday, and there were about 48,000 people there, you get crowds of about 30-40,000 for the average supported teams, and up to 80,000 if 2 well supported teams are playing each other. Luckily, my team is one of the premiership favorites this season, after about 5 years of not much success, so I'll have something to look forward to on that regard. Here's the site of that team actually; Geelong Football Club Soccer never really got going here, mainly because the national league was really badly run, but they're starting a new competition in August IIRC, and with Australia being accepted into Asia now from Oceania, we'll get more international games down here so it should pick up. Cricket is the big game in the summer, Australia's easily the best team in the world, and it's gotten a bit boring because they seem to beat every other nation really easy (we just beat New Zealand in about 9 out of 10 matches in a tour there this month). Rugby would be the wild-card, we have Rugby League down here which isn't that big, but Rugby Union is more popular, we just don't have a team in the state down here, and we actually missed out on one when there was another expansion team. Basketball is really, really struggling down here. Mid 90's it was really, really big, you'd get prime time coverage on free to air TV, and crowds of about 10,000. Now down here in Melbourne, you're lucky to have more than 3,000 show up, and all of the games are on pay TV now. The baseball league got shut down in the 90's as well, mainly because not enough people went to the games, so the league wasn't financially viable. They still have a state vs. state thing happening, it just isn't very big, which is a real shame.
  19. That was one heck of a read. Even as an Aussie, and only been able to watch a couple of college B-Ball games in my time on ESPN, I've found it would just be another experience as a fan / student going to these games (especially now), with all the crowd noise and everything. Have one hell of a time in St. Louis.

    Giving notice...

    I'd definitely wait until you are 100% sure this is what you want to do, and go along with it when you make the decision and notify your boss. If you need a break though Steff, any chance of maybe getting some long service leave, or some vacation time (although I'm not too well informed about the American Worker perks etc.)
  21. QUOTE(tonyho7476 @ Mar 30, 2005 -> 11:56 PM) I'm taking an extended break from Halo 2...I was getting sick of the cheating and bad attitude players. I'll be back on once the new maps are released via XBox Live. Yes I'm quickly finding that out myself, mainly your own teammates shooting you when you have the flag and are just about to score a point.
  22. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Mar 30, 2005 -> 10:23 AM) I don't think you take a hit by trading someone do you? Doesn't the other team assume the hit of the contract? I think San Diego has to pay all of Rivers signing bonus still, but I'm not too sure on that.
  23. What's the cap hit San Diego would take by trading Rivers?
