Buerhle Injury Update
Speaking of Buerhle, here's a really good article from Mike Imrem of the Daily Herald about the lack of media buzz around Mark's injury in this town;

Catch-All Anything Thread
QUOTE(winodj @ Mar 22, 2005 -> 10:54 AM) That was the 500th post in this thread. Er, 501st. And not one mention of a coffee table. I'm disappointed winodj.

Scott Skiles
Reading a previous Charles Rosen piece, the juice on Bobby Simmonds is that he's a good offensive player and could even better in that regard but he just doesn't offer much in the way of defense. Whether or not this is going to make him a fit with Pax and Skiles philosophies..... I don't know. And Larry Hughes is definitely going to get more than the MLE. He should get about 8 to 10 mill a season, since he's averaging about 20 points per game and more than 3 steals.

Here's an idea. Take out an EBay ad to get people to bid on going out on a prom date with you.

SHE WON'T SHUT UP!!!
I thought she was funnier in that cartoon where Michael Strahan said "Yeah man she almost looks like a woman today!" "Oh s*** is this thing on......... oh man.... I'm sorry.... I'm sorry....I'm sorry Brenda"

Prom help
QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Mar 22, 2005 -> 04:17 PM) You should ask your wife, your g-friend, or your mom for a better answer. Your in a tux, she's in her best dress. Ring a bell? Speaking of bells, bells, bells? It doesn't matter whether you've been going steady, dated a few times, or your going at it blind. She will never forget that day. Even if you do. So in other words its sentimental value.

If you're Amare Stoudemire, which do you prefer. Playing with Kobe Bryant or playing with Dwight Howard in 2 years?

Ok that's why we never had a prom down here. It's was just Formals and Debs really. I found that if you didn't go with a girl, you had more fun to mess around.

Prom help
QUOTE(Heads22 @ Mar 22, 2005 -> 03:47 PM) Mines an interesting story. We'll call the girl Xavier G. Xavier G was in Arizona recently and when she got back I talked to her on the MSN Messenger. I asked her how she was and she said good and she has a beautiful prom dress. I asked who she was going with and she said no one (she's a sophomore). I have always maintained I wouldn't go to prom because it is a waste of money. Xavier G then said that I had to go to prom as a senior. I asked why. Xavier G said she'd make me. It's nifty because Xavier G is one of the hotter girls in our school, and since she's an older sophomore (16) and I'm supposed to be a junior (17) the age difference is not great or anything. Might be worth it. I know she's a great girl. I then asked her since she half asked me so it was easy on me. Of course, wite said she's good looking so I'm reconsidering my judgement. Of course if I said she was hot (I didn't say anything) you wouldn't be reconsidering your judgement at all would you.

Maybe if you didn't call people dweebs, we'd be a little more helpful. But is taking a girl with you the most important thing? Just go and have a good time.

Bears still looking for backup QB
QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Mar 22, 2005 -> 09:35 AM) Depending on what really went down between QC and Bill Parcells I'd much rather see Carter on the Bears then any of the other backup candidates. Quincy has won, is a good athlete, and would be more then a viable option off the bench. Assuming that his situation in Dallas was overblown. Funny thing is I thought Herm Edwards liked him and instead they let him go and opted for someone else. I thought QC relapsed again while he was with the Jets. That's why he missed the playoffs.

Cavaliers Fire Paul Silas
When LeBron's deal is up, and if the Cavs are still a mess, what teams do you think will have the cap room to actually make a max offer for James? And he's going to want to play in a big market as well. And oh yes, Gooden hasn't really improved much at all. He's just gotten more playing time, than what he got in Orlando (as a 6th man), but he doesn't offer anything close to what Boozer did in toughness and defense.

Bulls vs Hawks Game Thread
QUOTE(qwerty @ Mar 22, 2005 -> 03:08 PM) Ming stays and amare eithers stays or goes to l.a. A lot of rumors that the lakers want amare bad as hell and are willing to dish out whatever it takes to get him. Amare did come from Orlando in High School ya know. It'd be a great story if he did come home.

QUOTE(qwerty @ Mar 22, 2005 -> 03:05 PM) Ekezie blows... but it was not a bad game for curry for once. The Bogut watch has begun....... unless they're stoo-pid and take Chris Paul instead. (Trade for Francis damnit!!!).

Bulls vs Hawks Game Thread
QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Mar 22, 2005 -> 02:49 PM) lol i still believe earlier in the season when you were going about how much better Orlando was than the bulls .....i think you guys might of still had a chance b4 that trade of yours... I still believe talent wise the Magic have some better players. But right now they're just not playing well as a team, especially defensively. And even now, I don't mind the Christie trade. Mobley wasn't going to resign here anyways, plus now it'll be easier to move Steve Francis, probably to Denver for Andre Miller and Nene, and Christie's deal is up at the end of next season along with Kelvin Cato and Tony Battie. That's about $20 million in salaries right there, making the Magic a real player in FA for the likes of Yao Ming and Amare Stoudemire.

Buerhle Injury Update
QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Mar 22, 2005 -> 02:58 PM) It doesn't matter about the agent... The salary values sky rocket at free agency. Getting an extra year out of a player @ close to 300K is a big deal, when in 6 years the salaries are going to be through the roof, no matter if he resigns or not. And that is just going to be absolutely huge. Teams that can develop good young pitching well have been very successful in this league (unless you're a big budget team). Organizations like Texas are finding out how important this is instead of handing out huge contracts to the likes of Chan Ho Park.

Homework Help
Two pronged question. I have to present a 3 minute presentation on the future of Information Techonlogy. Just wondering if there are any sites or articles in particular that would be extremely helpful with this issue. Also, I have to then write a formal written proposal about Computer Games and how a company should invest in these games for their emplyees professional development (yes I'm sure killing people on CounterStrike on a LAN is really going to do that), and include such things as a costs and benefits of such an activity and to develop educational goals and measurement tools to evaluate employee improvement etc.

Bulls vs Hawks Game Thread
And oh yes the Magic aren't going to make the playoffs, I'm a realist, I can see that, and I'm quite happy with it. I'd prefer a lottery pick to a 1st round exit anyways against Shaq and Wade. So the Bulls should have a playoff spot pretty locked up, especially with their April Schedule.

Scott Skiles
QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Mar 22, 2005 -> 01:40 PM) Aye, Hinrich will not be a problem. If we trade Curry for ATL's 1st we can draft Bogut. I would wet myself at that chance. I saw a proposal last night that had sending Steve Francis to Atlanta for their 1st so we could draft Bogut. I almost fainted with joy.
