QUOTE (Joxer_Daly @ Nov 23, 2012 -> 09:44 PM) Actually, I just got this laptop last month, so must check if that plays region-free. Just tried a couple of Belarussian DVDs in the laptop there now and they seemed to work fine. Excellent!

QUOTE (knightni @ Nov 23, 2012 -> 09:31 PM) Did you get the region-free DVD player yet? Ha! Well remembered! Not yet, still using the ancient one. Since we moved in here a few months ago its been a gradual process of getting things we need. Actually, I just got this laptop last month, so must check if that plays region-free.

QUOTE (knightni @ Nov 23, 2012 -> 09:13 PM) A little recent Sox history is coming up soon. Keep checking this link for the time. http://mlb.mlb.com/network/schedule/?ymd=20121023 Good man for the heads up. With that in mind, I think I'll get the mlb off-season package for before 2nd December. Seeing as the price covers the spring training games, and I intended getting it for them anyway. Nice bit of recent White Sox history to enjoy!

QUOTE (greg775 @ Nov 23, 2012 -> 08:51 PM) We all left our separate ways. They weren't drunk but in the afternoon, 3 beers, yeah they were probably over the limit. All were married with kids. I can't run people's lives, but people are crazy sometimes re. alcohol. Three beers is no big deal in itself. Obviously, if they were driving there's a stupid risk being taken there.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Nov 23, 2012 -> 08:24 PM) Do the four guys I was with have a problem? That depends. How many beers were left in the fridge after the first three rounds were polished off?

Juan Agudelo - any thoughts on this guy? Just saw a story there that a move to Celtic might be on the cards. Any read on what this young lad is like? -
QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Nov 22, 2012 -> 05:29 PM) Yeah, I wrote my paper a little over a week ago. It's alright though, I had about 84 responses from here and other forums, so sufficient enough sample size. Thanks anyway! Ah, feck! Glad you got enough responses anyway.

QUOTE (ewokpelts @ Nov 22, 2012 -> 05:52 PM) mlb.tv has no blackouts on spring games. if a team puts a st game on tv, then it's on mlb.tv Great. If I'm picking up how the blackout thing works correctly, I don't think they'll be an issue throughout the season for me where I am anyway. -
QUOTE (knightni @ Nov 22, 2012 -> 02:17 PM) or... what our Aussie, European, Asian, and Canadian posters call it... Thursday. Enjoy the day, all you US of A types.

Kept meaning to do this, but only got around to it now. Hope it's not too late.

QUOTE (Heads22 @ Nov 22, 2012 -> 03:56 AM) Anyone else keep an emergency beer in the fridge? One that kinda chills in there and you never drink until its the last beer left? I'm there right now. I don't consciously do so - generally there aren't any survivors left over or I try to keep the fridge clear to avoid temptation. On the occassion that a straggler does have an extended stay in the fridge, though, it's always pleasurable when the time comes to crack into it.

QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Nov 21, 2012 -> 11:28 PM) Not all of them, but I would say 70% of them seem to be on either local Chicago TV stations, WGN, ESPN, or whitesox.com They actually do quite a bit of the games on whitesox.com. I think they did like 13 webcasts last spring, and that number seems to grow each year. I'm almost 100% decided on subscribing to mlb.com for next season, even though I'll miss a load of the mid-week games, so I was thinking more if they would have them or not. Should've said. I suppose they'll have a lot or all of them? Cool that whitesox.com have a good number of webcasts. -
QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Nov 22, 2012 -> 02:24 AM) The part you dont seem to realize is that many Jews believe that they are always fighting to the death for their right to survive. I dare say the word 'Palestinians' could quite easily be inserted in place of 'Jews' in this sentence. What you say does raise a valid point in the importance of fear in all of this as a driving force in conflict. I think it's too simplistic to just say that it's about the Temple/Mosque. From what I can see there's a hell of a lot got to do with the politics of nation-state and the spin-off abuses, suffering and grievances that have transpired. The conflict in my own country is frequently nicely and neatly packaged in the international media as a religious fight which, whether through journalistic laziness or whatever, spectacularly misses the point. I think to say that the situation between the Israelis and Palestinians is just about the Temple/Mosque fails to grapple with the other issues going on. I also don't think it's right to say there's nothing the US can do. The not-insignificant amount of funds given to Israel annually would be a useful bargaining chip in terms of cooling heads and creating the space where both sides can talk. At the moment it seems as if the US gives Israel carte blanche to be as obnoxious toward the Palestinians as they want, which shuts off the opportunity for dialogue and feeds into the cycle of violence. If the US used their financial relationship to reign in Israel a bit, I think it would create the breathing space for alternatives to violence. By the way, don't take it personally that the points I made are addressing points you posted. I'm not trying to have a go at you
