  1. So, did they wear green for six months to St. Patrick's Day? I was told the Sox do that, or was that just an exaggeration?
  2. Brilliant! Just brilliant!! Delighted to have been able to follow that tonight. Big result.
  3. Celtic got Barcelona, Benfica and Spartak Moscow. Gonna be tough as bejaysus, but hey, we're there. Would love to make the trip to Moscow, but probably won't swing it. Seriously looking at doing the Barca and Benfica away trips. #havingapartyintheChampionsLeague
  4. Great stuff. Happy 10th anniversary. Only a newcomer here but, to all responsible, a big well done on a great forum.
  5. Great result, and Royals do us a turn too. Brilliant. An excellent night of sport for me all 'round last night.
  6. Celtic are back in the Champions League!!! Absolutely delighted. They won the tie with Helsingborgs 4-0, two goals in each game.
  7. QUOTE (Joxer_Daly @ Aug 28, 2012 -> 05:50 PM) Fever Pitch, the original football-based one, had some great lines. When we were younger, myself and a pal used to quote long tracts of the film 'Michael Collins' to each other. We'd probably still be able to do so if we met up for a pint, having not seen each other for over ten years! The character, Begbie, in Trainspotting was the provider of some epics lines too. Not sure if any of these films would've got much of a viewing in the U.S., though, come to think of it. Well, I used to quote them anyway. Mofos!!!

  9. QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Aug 28, 2012 -> 12:11 PM) I'm ashamed to admit that I had not seen that movie until this weekend. When I heard that line I nearly pissed myself. I loved the "and may god have mercy on your soul" at the end. I'm ashamed to admit that I'm not actually sure what "that movie" is.
  10. QUOTE (Pants Rowland @ Aug 27, 2012 -> 10:40 PM) Third Page and NO mention of these three classics?! Goodfellas "Go home and get your f***ing shinebox" "How the f*** am I funny, what the f*** is so funny about me?" "I took care of that thing for you" "I'm gonna go get the papers, get the papers." "It was outta respect." "What, do you got me on a f***in' pay-no-mind list kid?" "What am I, a mirage?" "Make that coffee to go" "and we couldn't do nothing about it!" The Godfather (I or II) "I'm going to make him an offer he can't refuse" "It means Luca Brasi sleeps with the fishes" "My offer to you is this....Nothing" "He's small potatoes" "What did he say? badda-beep, badda-boop" "Leave the gun. Take the cannoli." "someday, and that day may never come, I will call upon you to do a service for me." "Don't ever take sides with anyone against the family again. Ever." "Never tell anybody outside the family what you're thinking" "keep your friends close and your enemies closer" "I'm smart, not like everybody says. Not dumb, I'm smart, and I want respect!" "Can o' peas my ass! That's a Ritz cracker and chopped liver." Excellent shout on both counts.
  11. QUOTE (JPN366 @ Aug 27, 2012 -> 07:40 PM) Because I wouldn't leave a light on in my work area. He had his hand on his gun. Bet he still lived with his Ma!
  12. QUOTE (JPN366 @ Aug 27, 2012 -> 07:34 PM) I had an a$$hole security guard at my work say that to me over something stupid. Jesus! Did you manage to keep a straight face? Full Metal Jacket - there's some fine quotes to be had in there.
  13. Continuing in the Monty Python vein, Life of Brian is an eminantly quotable film.
  14. QUOTE (Swingandalongonetoleft @ Aug 27, 2012 -> 04:07 PM) Every so often while I'm doing something, I'll stop and be thankful that my team isn't named after a bird. You know what you have to do, Sox. Get it done!
  15. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 27, 2012 -> 05:27 PM) Yeah, I expected him to fall back a lot more than he did, but the kid has a set of cajones. He will go out and fight even if it isn't his night. The reality is even if he has a sophomore slump, he could fall back into the 4.50 era/1.30WHIP area and still be a big contribute to this team. He really impressed me with how he turned it around on Saturday night after his woeful start. Cajones is right.
  16. QUOTE (MurcieOne @ Aug 27, 2012 -> 04:22 PM) DEAL WITH IT!!!!!! What a top notch dude!!
  17. QUOTE (YASNY @ Aug 27, 2012 -> 12:31 PM) I find it funny that they called the Sox a second class citizen in their own city when Detroit is the armpit of America. Which team/city is the sweaty jockstrap, then?
  18. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Aug 27, 2012 -> 08:18 AM) Well damn, some people are bitter that their underachieving, overpaid team of fat guys and Verlander isn't living up to expectations. Enough to wish physical harm on Sale. That's some classless s*** right there. That'd be like me wishing Prince gained so much mass he'd collapse on himself like a blackhole and cease to exist. Last guy is right, Karma is a b****, as they've learned for wishing bodily harm on people. And no matter what happens... http://youtu.be/oZzgAjjuqZM?t=40s Mentalists! Suppose, every team has some, but those guys quoted must be hurting really badly.
  19. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 27, 2012 -> 12:46 AM) Quite a different feeling from last Sunday. Can't believe we could be 16 games over .500 a week later, sweeping the Yanks and the hottest (granted, against weaker teams) team in baseball in the M's. What a difference a week makes, eh? And scrapping back from behind to get the win in so many of the games makes it all the more gratifying.
  20. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Aug 26, 2012 -> 04:02 AM) Great win and a fun game to attend. Nice job by q pitching past a rough start. Fantastic game to attend - lucky you. Still delighted at how the team turned it all around after a nightmare start. Same again today, please. Well, maybe with less stress!!
  21. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Aug 26, 2012 -> 02:29 PM) I'm not Hawk hater...as a matter of fact, I love the idea of having a "fan" call our games. I was at the game last night, so I had to see replays in order to see what was going on, but Hawk told the truth, and punishing a broadcaster for telling the truth is stupid. 1) Hawk was right. 2) See 1. I didn't hear his rant either, as I was watching on ESPN and they were airing the Seattle commentary. But even those guys were saying it was ridiculous for AJ to be ejected in the first place.
  22. That was a hard fought victory last night. It was looking bad, but they dragged it back. Thought it was a really determined performance. Very happy this morning.
  23. QUOTE (knightni @ Aug 26, 2012 -> 03:35 AM) http://www.amazon.co.uk/Toshiba-Multi-Regi...8498&sr=8-3 Great stuff! I'm a bit stone age when it comes to techno stuff. That would certainly make my life easier.
  24. QUOTE (knightni @ Aug 26, 2012 -> 02:39 AM) Buy a region-free DVD player. Are they the norm nowadays? Hope so. My dvd player is about nine years old at this stage. We just moved into a new home, so the good thing is that along with getting furniture, etc, we're also looking at making some technological upgrades.
