QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Aug 25, 2012 -> 09:41 PM) My buddy will be behind the Sox dugout with a sign that says "What's up to my Ball State Crew!!" or somethintg close, and then on the reverse side "Rayna, will you marry me?", which is a joke about one of my roommates, Rayna, but he figured it will get him on TV, and then he'll flip the sign. Haha. Ha! Will keep an eye out for him. Can't wait for this game. First in a good while I'll be getting to watch live, due to time differences, etc. Supplies in the fridge and hoping for a great result. Steam into this mob, Sox!!! -
My vote is a no, as I don't have any Sox DVds. I was looking at a few, but they were all just for the US region. Do any of you know if there would've been any Sox DVds made with a view to the overseas market? Any particular DVDs to recommend, both for the '05 World Series and Sox history in general?

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 21, 2012 -> 02:06 PM) attendance by first place team. Yankees 43,475 Rangers 43,483 Dodgers 41,292 Washington 29,844 Cincinnati 29,477 White Sox 24,485 Their fan bases care the least about the Sox. Why would TV be any different? This looks startlingly like perspective, to me. How is it actually carved up? Is it purely by demand or is there a minimum amount of games that each team gets to be televised?

I noticed the low level of Sox coverage on ESPN and thought maybe I was just a paranoid rookie. Now that I see it brought up here, what is the story with it? Why do other teams, in less prominent positions than ourselves seem to appear more on TV? Or is it just good old paranoia after all?!

I think I'm in love with my new fridge. It got delivered yesterday and I've had eight large ones chilling in it overnight for the Celtic match later. Sunshine, football and beer. What better way to Christen a fridge. #content

QUOTE (danman31 @ Aug 15, 2012 -> 07:41 PM) Van Persie to Man U. Can't wait to hear the transfer fee on this, but Rooney and RVP together? Holy s***! Judging by friends, Arsenal fans are in meltdown over this. -
Wade into this mob, Sox!!!

Thank God for that!

Had really hoped for better news when I logged on this morning. :-( Thank God for Detroit having a job done on them. Win tonight, please, Sox!

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Aug 13, 2012 -> 04:06 PM) My dad's brother and his family, so very close, but I haven't made out there in over 10 years. I have never tried Surstromming. I actually eat herring from time to time (since I'm Polish), but that stuff lookes pretty nasty. Especially this quote from Wikipedia; "A Japanese study has shown that the smell of a newly opened can of surströmming is the most putrid smell of food in the world, beating similar fermented fish dishes such as the Korean Hongeohoe or Japanese Kusaya" Myself and a pal from Finland tried some earlier this year, as documented here: It was really foul, but not as puke-inducing as I had hoped. Unfortunately, the cameragirl didn't film the 'drinking the liquid from the can' part. It was a very funny evening, though. -

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Aug 10, 2012 -> 06:14 PM) Helsingborg, huh? I have close family living there, so I have to root for them! You don't really have to! ;-) How close? Have they ever made you eat Surstromming? If not, you should demand that they do. -

Celtic drew Helsingborgs, of Sweden, for the next Champions League qualifier. Two of Henrik Larsson's clubs to do battle - hopefully we can emerge victorious. -

Irish boxer John Joe Nevin defeated the Cuban world champion with a slick display earlier to proceed into the final. Sadly, Belfastman Paddy Barnes lost out to his Chinese opponent by a countback after a ferocious display. It was a really good fight with the final score level at 15-15. When these two met at the same stage in the last Olympics, Barnes was roundly beaten 15-0. Michael Conlon faces another Cuban later this evening, also fighting for a final place. Should be a good fight, too. -

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 10, 2012 -> 02:08 PM) Yep, people can sign up and get given an official account #, but if we investigate and find their email or IP tied to spamming we delete it and don't let them join. That's why we don't allow people to do an instant sign up. It may take longer, but the whole virtually no spammers thing is nice. Jesus!! That's a shed load of spammers foiled, so. Good work folks.

QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Aug 10, 2012 -> 12:14 PM) I have both, but rarely look at Twitter. As far as Facebook, I look at it a couple times a day, but I probably only post a couple times a week. I've been on Facebook for about 4 years but only have 250 friends. I don't understand when people have thousands of "friends". But then again, I only use it to keep in touch with family and friends. Then there's the explaining to someone that you think is an utter tool why you didn't accept their friend request.

A lot of excitement here yesterday for Katie Taylor winning the Gold medal in the boxing. Three more Irish boxers in action today. Hopefully, they can convert their bronze medals into something else.
