  1. QUOTE(robinventura23 @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 03:07 PM) Just ask Brandon McCarthy. Exept McCarthy's velocity barely touches 91. McDougal reaches back and hits 97 consistently.
  2. QUOTE(SoxFanForever @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 09:15 PM) I wonder if Paulie boy can let a few more get past him right on the line His slow ass missed two dribblers down the line in ONE INNING. With runners on 1st/2ndd0 outs and bases loaded 0 outs Konerko acted as if there was no chance those RHH would slap the ball down 1st base line. While you may give him leniancy for the first situation, when the bases were loaded Konerko should have been closer to the 1st base line.
  3. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Jul 23, 2005 -> 07:48 PM) OH f***ING HELL... OH s***... WE SUCK... f***... OMG... WE f***ING SUCK... /there, I feel better... :rolly You may joke, but seriously, no one can observe this team recently and believe everything is fine. Don't need to overreact to realize offensive help is needed.
  4. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jul 23, 2005 -> 07:18 PM) He hasn't won a game in almost 2 months. But he does have a nice career record. Except he's nowhere near the pitcher he was in Houston. Miller is undeniably Boston's worst pitcher in their rotation. This game, he hasn't dazzled our hitters with overpowering stuff or location. His ERA is worse than Duque's, and this is not due to one poor outting which inflated his stats. He's simply that bad. There's no excuse to justify this performance other then the hitters beating themselves. I refuse to give him credit.
  5. Has anyone ever seen a game where our hitters have missed more straight fastballs down the middle? Weak fastballs with no movement which have been fouled off.
  6. QUOTE(Ozzie Montana @ Jul 23, 2005 -> 06:48 PM) Konerko f***n sucks El Duque is having a good game but they cant score s***. And absolutely no one can justify this shutout by complimenting Miller. Poor lineup, poor AB's equal shutout.
  7. Does our offense realize they're facing Miller? No one can credit Miller because he's been throwing, on average, two straight fastballs down the middle of the plate per AB and EVERY BATTER is just behind it. Offense deserves full criticism. These pitiful displays against a shoddy pitcher is exactly what lends people, such as myself, to question our team's offense. It's not overreacting after one game. It's a constant pattern of our offense putting together poor AB's, failing to string together hits, and most importantly, overrelying on the HR. Look at the ball Manny missed in LF. If that would have happen to us, this game would have been cut wide open. f***ing sad we can't even take advantage of extra opportunities to score against this scrub.
  8. Breaking News segment on Sportscenter claims talks between Orioles and Marlins have sped up recently. Sidney Ponson could be included in any posssible deal to offset Lowell's salary. In addition, a desonated time period could be placed aside for Orioles to work out a long term deal for AJ. A deal, in principle, could be completed soon as tonight.
  9. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 22, 2005 -> 12:43 AM) And what did the offense do wrong tonight? Was it score 4 runs off Clement in 6 innings or tie the game off Schilling in the 8th? Last time I checked at this point Clement's their ace and we hit him fine. IMO, more runs should have been produced off Clement. And Schilling wasn't much better. Neither were throwing anywhere near their capabilities. Did you happen to notice any of Clement's fastballs top 91? Or sliders consistently find the strikezone? When he's on, he'll entice hitters to chase his slider low as well as locate the pitch for a strike. Two innings Schillings pitched I observed meatball after meatball fouled off by our clueless hitters. His forkball and fastball were both noticeably below the standards of a healthy Curt Schilling. I'm not very upset with how our offense managed against mediocre-Schilling, but remember, neither will likely be as hittable as they were today during any postseason matchup.

  11. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2005 @ Jul 21, 2005 -> 09:11 PM) I am officially scared to death now. What happened to Crede just now is some Steve Bartman, Billy Goat, Bambino curse s***. I don't believe in curses, but it's one of those circumstances where you almost guessed everything would fall apart. In the chat, I half jokingly suggested the AB would result in a HR after Crede dropped the ball. Sure enough, it was deposited on the very next pitch. This entire game has been played rather poorly. Several squandered opportunities both on defense and offense. It's as if the team entered this game scared out of their minds; afraid to make any mistakes. Well, now ESPN can highlight our team and observe how we fell apart. It was digusting and pitiful. I hope I never have to watch another disgraceful game such as this again. 3 f***ing unearned runs!?
  12. QUOTE(CYGarland @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 06:01 PM) This team struggles against righties w/ good sliders, Douglass and Bonderman are those type of pitchers. This is why we need another LH bat BAD!! If that's true, which I tend to believe, tomorrows start against Clement won't be too pretty. Ozzie may want to consider benching Thomas in place of Everett for DH. Gload certaintly isn't our savior, but this is why his presense is needed on this ballclub. On days where our offense faces tough RH starters, Gload could replace Konerko. Just one extra, quality LH bat would help.
  13. QUOTE(CYGarland @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 04:57 PM) I wasn't surprised that Douglass and Bonderman shut us down, but Robertson is a pitcher this team should beat, considering we pound lefties. Douglass was far from impressive. He may have shown superior location in previous starts, but what I observed was a pitcher missing his spots and hitters flailing away at crap in the dirt. Honestly, he reminded me of a pitcher our organization would draft: low 90's fastball, low to mid 80's curveball. Except if he were sporting our jersey no team would be missing his meatballs. Even Hawk, who's willing to conjure any excuse explaining a pitiful White Sox performance, thought our offense would hit Douglass hard unless he threw with pinpoint control. I didn't observe pinpoint control, but rather an offense confused by a soft-tossing pitcher with weak control and equally terrible 'stuff.' This upcoming Boston series will be a great indication of where our offense stands against a playoff caliber team. If we're dominated, as we've been against Detroit's starters, no one can justify the offense with our record. Same holds true with the pitching.
  14. QUOTE(Frankensteiner @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 04:15 PM) Damn, we're finally getting huge crowds. They deserve better. Hey, any team running into Douglass and Robertson will have a difficult time scoring. Right? But don't worry, it's bound to get easier in the playoffs. Rarely will you face good pitching.
  15. Pathetic AB by Iguchi. After all that it ends on a weak comeback to the pitcher.
  16. That's why you don't bring closers (or relief pitchers designated as closers) in non-save situations. This happens all too often. I won't chalk this up as a moral victory if we happen to fall short. Cleveland made their 9th inning comeback last series and it didn't help motivate them the following game.
  17. Look at this. 8-6 Detroit. Sox should be celebratig a victory right now instead of clawing themselves back into this game.
  18. QUOTE(qwerty @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 04:01 PM) Politte left with the bases loaded... all his runners. Yes, Politte does deserve majority of the blame. However, Cotts layed a meatball for Young to kill which opened this game wide up. I blame Ozzie the most for even relieving Politte, our best reliever, in that situation.
  19. On cue, the Sox offense awakens when the game is already out of reach. If only Ozzie would have resisted the urge to give Garcia the opportunity to win, If Politte/Cotts would have pitched like men, these runs might have mattered.
  20. What's this excuse for an empty chatroom? JOIN THE CHAT. I'm alone. So alone.
  21. QUOTE(qwerty @ Jul 18, 2005 -> 12:19 AM) It is sold at local stores @ burbank, oak lawn, etc.. Yeah, Big League Chew is fairly easy to find on the Southside. Earlier this evening I recalled seeing several different flavors along with the original. My forgetten food item, which may still be manufactured, is FLUFF. Or how about TANG for that matter? And yes, Homer couldn't find it either. Someone was bound to bring it up if I didn't mention the reference first.
  22. QUOTE(Southside hitmen @ Jul 18, 2005 -> 12:04 AM) From: hawkisgod 1:59 am To: mannyvaritek2433 unread (51 of 51) 133899.51 in reply to 133899.49 I hate this time of the year, so many conflicting reports...xm radios Ben maller reported the white sox have a done deal that will send mota lowell and Burnett to the sox, also the the sox want a 72 hour window to negotiate a contract with AJ, and this other source is reporting the red sox have a done deal. Well this much is sure, AJ will be on the sox, but which color will he be sporting, red or white? Does acquiring an underachieving 3B with a hefty contract in Lowell, an emotional, Right-handed Damaso Marte, and Contreras V.1.2 honestly improve our club? I'm not going to reiterate everything that's been said, because every angle has been discussed; but this trade is something I'd expect from a club on the fringe of contention. We shouldn't be dragged into Florida's desire to unload their players. I realize this is likely an exaggeration of some passing remark on the radio, but incase HawkisGod heard correctly I have to prepare my fists for shaking in anger.
  23. Texsox, where was your concern for the criminal in this suicide attempt gone awry? He must have been suffering from mental health issues, right? http://www.soxtalk.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=29159&hl= QUOTE(Texsox @ Jan 26, 2005 -> 04:18 PM) If you are going to kill yourself, don't involve other people, do not make a mess. If you are the cutter/slasher type, do it in the bathtub. Gas, garage with the engine running and plenty of fuel (Some people underestimate how long it takes and do not start with a full gas tank). No swallowing a gun, it's always messy, ditto on jumping. An overdose would also work nicely. Park your car on train tracks so other people are also killed?? :fyou And don't suggest these cases are different because the women followed through her suicide attempt while the man bailed. If anything, the women featured in this thread should be held more accountable then Juan Alvarez. Alvarez's defense could argue he had no intention of injuring/murdering travelers while Jeanette Sliwinski deliberately rammed another motorist.
  24. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Jul 13, 2005 -> 05:00 PM) Are those two seperate movie clips? He looks like he aged 15 years between shots. First still shot was from 1985's "Breakfast Club", the other was 2001's "Not Another Teen Movie." About 15 years apart.
  25. Good time had by all. This baseball season, the chat room has become more of a bar-room atmosphere where baseball discussions are interrupted with talks of offtopic subjects too racy for these message boards. Low brow, yes, but it's fun alternative to posting in the Game Day thread. You'll know you're in the right place when the Nukester offers you a hardy welcome.
