  1. What's this excuse for an empty chatroom? JOIN THE CHAT. I'm alone. So alone.
  2. QUOTE(qwerty @ Jul 18, 2005 -> 12:19 AM) It is sold at local stores @ burbank, oak lawn, etc.. Yeah, Big League Chew is fairly easy to find on the Southside. Earlier this evening I recalled seeing several different flavors along with the original. My forgetten food item, which may still be manufactured, is FLUFF. Or how about TANG for that matter? And yes, Homer couldn't find it either. Someone was bound to bring it up if I didn't mention the reference first.
  3. QUOTE(Southside hitmen @ Jul 18, 2005 -> 12:04 AM) From: hawkisgod 1:59 am To: mannyvaritek2433 unread (51 of 51) 133899.51 in reply to 133899.49 I hate this time of the year, so many conflicting reports...xm radios Ben maller reported the white sox have a done deal that will send mota lowell and Burnett to the sox, also the the sox want a 72 hour window to negotiate a contract with AJ, and this other source is reporting the red sox have a done deal. Well this much is sure, AJ will be on the sox, but which color will he be sporting, red or white? Does acquiring an underachieving 3B with a hefty contract in Lowell, an emotional, Right-handed Damaso Marte, and Contreras V.1.2 honestly improve our club? I'm not going to reiterate everything that's been said, because every angle has been discussed; but this trade is something I'd expect from a club on the fringe of contention. We shouldn't be dragged into Florida's desire to unload their players. I realize this is likely an exaggeration of some passing remark on the radio, but incase HawkisGod heard correctly I have to prepare my fists for shaking in anger.
  4. Texsox, where was your concern for the criminal in this suicide attempt gone awry? He must have been suffering from mental health issues, right? http://www.soxtalk.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=29159&hl= QUOTE(Texsox @ Jan 26, 2005 -> 04:18 PM) If you are going to kill yourself, don't involve other people, do not make a mess. If you are the cutter/slasher type, do it in the bathtub. Gas, garage with the engine running and plenty of fuel (Some people underestimate how long it takes and do not start with a full gas tank). No swallowing a gun, it's always messy, ditto on jumping. An overdose would also work nicely. Park your car on train tracks so other people are also killed?? :fyou And don't suggest these cases are different because the women followed through her suicide attempt while the man bailed. If anything, the women featured in this thread should be held more accountable then Juan Alvarez. Alvarez's defense could argue he had no intention of injuring/murdering travelers while Jeanette Sliwinski deliberately rammed another motorist.
  5. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Jul 13, 2005 -> 05:00 PM) Are those two seperate movie clips? He looks like he aged 15 years between shots. First still shot was from 1985's "Breakfast Club", the other was 2001's "Not Another Teen Movie." About 15 years apart.
  6. Good time had by all. This baseball season, the chat room has become more of a bar-room atmosphere where baseball discussions are interrupted with talks of offtopic subjects too racy for these message boards. Low brow, yes, but it's fun alternative to posting in the Game Day thread. You'll know you're in the right place when the Nukester offers you a hardy welcome.

I've tasted beef from around Chicago, and I must represent my hometown in voting for Pop's; located off 127th and Harlem Ave. in Palos Heights. If your house is within several miles of this place I recommend stopping by sometime. Small establishments such as these are the best places, IMO, to search for quality beef products.
  8. In no particular order of shock value. -The Vanishing (Older, foreign version. Not the Jeff Bridges crapfest) -Don't Look Now -Full Circle -The Wicker Man -Invasion of the Body Snatchers (70's version)
  9. QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 8, 2005 -> 08:05 PM) We let Saarloos off the hook (or should I say, Willie did), and he's mowing us down now. You have to wonder how many times an offense can miss hanging sliders. Sarloss has thrown several each inning, and yet no one can do anything with these pitches. I better not hear one player claim "Oakland just has our number." These weak offensive performances against scrub pitchers need to stop.
  10. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jul 8, 2005 -> 07:27 PM) Man...I was here in the first inning...no one in the chat room. I'm back in the 4th inning...no one in the chat room. Come on in folks. I checked earlier and no one appeared to be interested. I'll be right in there. FILL THE CHAT
  11. Good AB by Pods drawing a walk. Now it's Willie's opportunity to make up for his previous AB's and tie this game.
  12. QUOTE(CYGarland @ Jul 8, 2005 -> 07:22 PM) pathetic way to score a run, but i'll take it i guess Against Oakland, off all teams, who seem to get atleast 2 runs a game off us cheaply. I'll take a few many pathetic runs.
  13. Perez delivers another base hit, advancing Dye to second base. It's about time our club strings together hits off 'Hanging Slider' Sarloos.
  14. You know, I could care less about rationalizing his placement on this All-Star squad. I fully understand nearly every other option on the ballot deserved the 32nd spot more than Podsednik. I'll admit right here I voted for him not because of his perceived intangibles or stolen base total, but due to the jersey he's representing. This All-Star selection process is far from perfect. We've proven that correct several days ago. In the past, especially on the final roster selection, deserving Sox players been snubbed on several occassions. I consider this justice. However, I've never heard more people whine about it than I have these last few days. Especially radio personalities and ESPN baseball analysts. Give fans the power of choosing their final representative and noone should be surprised when the winners aren't who you expect. Or rather, less derserving.

QUOTE(augustus_wingsby @ Jul 7, 2005 -> 04:14 PM) Well, maybe if you had taken the time to read his postings and his answers to questions, you would know that that is impossible for him to do. We are in a completely different worldline than the one he is from. If he did go back in time and "prevent what he claims is going to happen" he would effect nothing here, but some other worldline. Maybe you should read up on what you are so inclined to opine before you post. Your first post on Soxtalk is devoted to this thread? I'd like to know what led you to search our archives and ressurect this two year old drivel.
  16. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 6, 2005 -> 09:36 PM) They just mentioned Soxtalk.com on Sports Page. What was the context of the plug? Did a caller mention our site or one of the panelists?
  17. The email was from Michigan City. If I had to believe one person was responsible it was Southsider2k5 who wrote the message. Nice plug--glad they said "Soxtalk.com......yes!"
  18. We gave him a good 150 votes following 7:00 deadline. Hopefully others continued voting after 7 as well.
  19. Just as a note, don't stop voting once it hits 7:00. Keep going until the news of who won is official or the voting system tells you voting has stopped.
  20. QUOTE(Kogs35 @ Jul 6, 2005 -> 05:27 PM) levine just said on csn that pods is only up 1000 VOTE VOTE VOTE!! On CSN, Mitch Robinson said results wouldn't be known until 8:30. I'm sure he meant 8:30et, but in the past it's never took that long to decide an All-Star. I suppose if Podsednik is leading they'll be a few extra "pockets" of votes which need to be tallied. Everyone is setting us up for the Jeter comeback. I'm still voting, but I'm not feeling good about this.
  21. Have not stopped voting since 5:45. Although I'm still anticipating the MLB article claiming Jeter's "miraculous 10,000 vote comeback occured in the final minute."
  22. QUOTE(KevHead0881 @ Jul 6, 2005 -> 03:13 PM) There hasn't been an update since the original one this morning that said Pods passed Jeter. I expect within the next hour to see an article posted on MLB.com which claims Jeter is making a "12th hour comeback." Truthfully, I can't imagine Pods winning. It just doesn't seem right in the grand scheme of baseball. MLB's poster child not making the all-star team in place of Podsednik seems odd. Tony Kornheiser, on PTI, acted like many East Coast NYY fans this morning when they realized some no-named player is leading the All-Star voting ahead of Jeter. Maybe they just assumed Jeter would win and completely forgot to vote. I wonder if the folks at ESPN and MLB.com will add a few thousand votes in the final moments once the notion of the "face of baseball" not earning a spot is realized. However, if our efforts are rewarded and Pods makes the team, it should be great listening to Hawk/DJ announce his placement on the All-Star roster. The fans will likely grace him with a standing ovation.
  23. Time to fill the chat room and vent our frustrations on the eventual Kevin Walker grandslam.
  24. SSI, Kalapse, whoever else, fill the Chat. /shakes fist FILL IT.
  25. Chat room is available for anyone willing to discuss corpseball and debate how the offense might screw Buehlre.
