    Al's Beef

I've tasted beef from around Chicago, and I must represent my hometown in voting for Pop's; located off 127th and Harlem Ave. in Palos Heights. If your house is within several miles of this place I recommend stopping by sometime. Small establishments such as these are the best places, IMO, to search for quality beef products.
  2. In no particular order of shock value. -The Vanishing (Older, foreign version. Not the Jeff Bridges crapfest) -Don't Look Now -Full Circle -The Wicker Man -Invasion of the Body Snatchers (70's version)
  3. QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 8, 2005 -> 08:05 PM) We let Saarloos off the hook (or should I say, Willie did), and he's mowing us down now. You have to wonder how many times an offense can miss hanging sliders. Sarloss has thrown several each inning, and yet no one can do anything with these pitches. I better not hear one player claim "Oakland just has our number." These weak offensive performances against scrub pitchers need to stop.
  4. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jul 8, 2005 -> 07:27 PM) Man...I was here in the first inning...no one in the chat room. I'm back in the 4th inning...no one in the chat room. Come on in folks. I checked earlier and no one appeared to be interested. I'll be right in there. FILL THE CHAT
  5. Good AB by Pods drawing a walk. Now it's Willie's opportunity to make up for his previous AB's and tie this game.
  6. QUOTE(CYGarland @ Jul 8, 2005 -> 07:22 PM) pathetic way to score a run, but i'll take it i guess Against Oakland, off all teams, who seem to get atleast 2 runs a game off us cheaply. I'll take a few many pathetic runs.
  7. Perez delivers another base hit, advancing Dye to second base. It's about time our club strings together hits off 'Hanging Slider' Sarloos.
  8. You know, I could care less about rationalizing his placement on this All-Star squad. I fully understand nearly every other option on the ballot deserved the 32nd spot more than Podsednik. I'll admit right here I voted for him not because of his perceived intangibles or stolen base total, but due to the jersey he's representing. This All-Star selection process is far from perfect. We've proven that correct several days ago. In the past, especially on the final roster selection, deserving Sox players been snubbed on several occassions. I consider this justice. However, I've never heard more people whine about it than I have these last few days. Especially radio personalities and ESPN baseball analysts. Give fans the power of choosing their final representative and noone should be surprised when the winners aren't who you expect. Or rather, less derserving.

QUOTE(augustus_wingsby @ Jul 7, 2005 -> 04:14 PM) Well, maybe if you had taken the time to read his postings and his answers to questions, you would know that that is impossible for him to do. We are in a completely different worldline than the one he is from. If he did go back in time and "prevent what he claims is going to happen" he would effect nothing here, but some other worldline. Maybe you should read up on what you are so inclined to opine before you post. Your first post on Soxtalk is devoted to this thread? I'd like to know what led you to search our archives and ressurect this two year old drivel.
  10. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 6, 2005 -> 09:36 PM) They just mentioned Soxtalk.com on Sports Page. What was the context of the plug? Did a caller mention our site or one of the panelists?
  11. The email was from Michigan City. If I had to believe one person was responsible it was Southsider2k5 who wrote the message. Nice plug--glad they said "Soxtalk.com......yes!"
  12. We gave him a good 150 votes following 7:00 deadline. Hopefully others continued voting after 7 as well.
  13. Just as a note, don't stop voting once it hits 7:00. Keep going until the news of who won is official or the voting system tells you voting has stopped.
  14. QUOTE(Kogs35 @ Jul 6, 2005 -> 05:27 PM) levine just said on csn that pods is only up 1000 VOTE VOTE VOTE!! On CSN, Mitch Robinson said results wouldn't be known until 8:30. I'm sure he meant 8:30et, but in the past it's never took that long to decide an All-Star. I suppose if Podsednik is leading they'll be a few extra "pockets" of votes which need to be tallied. Everyone is setting us up for the Jeter comeback. I'm still voting, but I'm not feeling good about this.
  15. Have not stopped voting since 5:45. Although I'm still anticipating the MLB article claiming Jeter's "miraculous 10,000 vote comeback occured in the final minute."
  16. QUOTE(KevHead0881 @ Jul 6, 2005 -> 03:13 PM) There hasn't been an update since the original one this morning that said Pods passed Jeter. I expect within the next hour to see an article posted on MLB.com which claims Jeter is making a "12th hour comeback." Truthfully, I can't imagine Pods winning. It just doesn't seem right in the grand scheme of baseball. MLB's poster child not making the all-star team in place of Podsednik seems odd. Tony Kornheiser, on PTI, acted like many East Coast NYY fans this morning when they realized some no-named player is leading the All-Star voting ahead of Jeter. Maybe they just assumed Jeter would win and completely forgot to vote. I wonder if the folks at ESPN and MLB.com will add a few thousand votes in the final moments once the notion of the "face of baseball" not earning a spot is realized. However, if our efforts are rewarded and Pods makes the team, it should be great listening to Hawk/DJ announce his placement on the All-Star roster. The fans will likely grace him with a standing ovation.
  17. Time to fill the chat room and vent our frustrations on the eventual Kevin Walker grandslam.
  18. SSI, Kalapse, whoever else, fill the Chat. /shakes fist FILL IT.
  19. Chat room is available for anyone willing to discuss corpseball and debate how the offense might screw Buehlre.
  20. QUOTE(Chisoxrd5 @ Jun 27, 2005 -> 10:32 AM) I didnt even bother to open the 'meltdown' thread but could someone please explain to me exactly why we have one? We lost TWO games after an 8 game win streak...I'm assuming by the creator of the thread he was completely joking around but I have no interest in reading 7 pages of meaningless rants and arguments. I don't understand the problem some are having with the thread. It was a horrendous game and deserved to be discussed. Now, I'm certain Cheat created the thread with the sole purpose of stirring up trouble, but many people were upset and needed a venue to vent. It's no different than posting bulls*** following a win in any of the threads devoted to a victory.
  21. I believe the hitters entered this game thinking Prior was going to be in top shape. They expected a sharp breaking ball, 95 mph fastball with movement, and pin point control. What's amazing is the offense did worse today than the last meeting they had against Prior.
  22. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jun 26, 2005 -> 03:09 PM) I hate when this s*** happens. Now I can't even watch Sportscenter or BBTN because I can't stand to see this s*** again. This is the first time in a while where I've been completely ashamed of this team. This game was a disgrace, an absolute disgrace. Last years July 4th debacle against Glendon Rusch was comparable to today's eventual loss. Watching Rusch breeze through our hitters with ease while Buehlre pitched his ass off was disgusting. Marte walking in the winning run on ESPN Sunday Night Baseball to complete the sweep only worsened the blow. I'm going to avoid the newspapers and radio for a few days now.
  23. No one can justify this poor performance today. Hawk can't even talk he's so ashamed.
  24. I thought yesterday was Corpseball until this game. Honestly, this is pathetic. Garland deserves better from our offense. I wouldn't be surprised to see this team enter a funk now. It's just terrible viewing this game. If we were to come back and win, I wouldn't change my attitude one bit.
  25. I've never been more upset with this club than this afternoon. Prior's breaking ball was flat, fastball lacked movement; and they collectively put together poor AB's against a starter with a pitchcount. These last two AB's for Thomas and Paulie have to be some of the worst I've seen this year.
