Official story about collapse of the WTC 'bogus'
Flash Tizzle replied to KipWellsFan's topic in SLaM
QUOTE(YASNY @ Jun 16, 2005 -> 10:27 AM) Then again, if jet fuel can burn hot enough to melt steel girders then why wasn't it hot enough to melt a computer moniter sitting upon a filing cabinet at the edge of the hole in the Pentagon? That computer just happened to be in the right place. The hole you're referring to, IIRC, was caused by one of the engine pieces flying through the wall. It's possible the jet engine fuel didn't spray in that direction. Remember, the Pentagon is a heavily layered building, and the area at which the plane struck had been renovated. I just don't believe there's a massive conspriacy with 9/11 in any of the cities or events which took place. Whether it be a military jet shooting down Flight 93, a missle/car bomb striking the Pentagon, or a controlled demolition of both WTC towers. Far as the demolition theory, if someone implanted explosives, why didn't they go off immediately upon the airplane strike? Or sometime before their eventual collapse fifty minutes later? It must have been lucky for government agents to pick the right location to install explosives. Because the terrorists happened to strike the building at the exact places both towers began their collapse. Unless you want to believe United and American Airlines had some sort of homing devices guiding them into the desired spots. Which is yet another conspiracy. -

QUOTE(Wedge @ Jun 16, 2005 -> 10:07 AM) so in this case, the total falling time is about 10.7 seconds. As you introduce more slabs, the falling time should increase (this would take a lot of calculus, maybe if I have time to look at it later, I will). Also... we're assuming the tower is giving no resistance as it collapse, which it should be doing. That would introduce more of a collapse time. These are just simple calculations, that I feel introduce an element of doubt to the fact that the WTC towers collapsed purely because of the impact of the planes. There is enough evidence to warrant full scale scientific investigation and simulation, that I'm not sure has been done. The steel truss construction (support of building lying on outside structure) created a domino effect once the floors hit by the planes could no longer support themselves, or the floors above. In WTC 2, the tower first to collapse yet second to be struck, fell first due to the severity (and ideal location) at which the terrorists targeted. Upon the crucial moments before collapse, it had been obvious to observers the building appeared to be noticeably leaning. The jetliner fuel obviously compromised the foundation of the several floors covering the impact. Once the steel truss' failed, which was inevitable, the almost professional demolition was completed. Essentially, a 30 story building fell upon a 80 story base. I wouldn't expect much resistance. WTC 1 held up longer, yet even the hight of the strike could not save the tower. Similar to it's fallen twin, the weakening of the initial impact floor weakened the structure and dropped a 10 story building upon a 100 story base. To me, it speaks more to the poor construction of the building than a conspiracy. As stated before, the strength of the building lied on its outside shell. Once it gave way, there was no stopping the debris downfall. -

QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Jun 15, 2005 -> 04:53 PM) Try not to flame for this anyone but I think we're rather fortunate what happened on 9-11 was what happened rather than someone sneaking a nuclear device into NYC or LA and setting it off. All these stories I read about those suitcase size nuclear devices the Soviets used to have that have gone missing scare me more than anything. We'll eventually have some sort of nuclear device smuggled and detonated in this nation. Honestly, I'm surprised it hasn't already happened. One person with one briefcase of radioactive material is too difficult to prepare for. s***, 19 people freely roamed our nation. Imagine several terrorists preparing their weapons outside the country and merely traveling through Canada or Mexico. No flight schools or tickets to purchase which may tip authorities. Far as 9/11, you're right, it could have been much worse. -Three hours later and both WTC buildings have 15,000 more occupants. -Airliner which struck the Pentagon happened to hit the area which had been recently renovated. -Flight 93 didn't reach it's destination. -
I wonder what useless additions Teddy Ruxpin will have to appease today's youth. Because I doubt the doll sells on its past reputation.

QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Jun 15, 2005 -> 04:10 PM) Out of curiosity, HOW willing are you to believe believe our government allowed the 19 hijackers to orchestrate their attacks? At the moment, I have to believe the account we're given is correct. I'm suggesting if someone said, "Bush administration knew an attack was beginning to pilot commercial airliners into skyscrapers, yet didn't intervene because they knew it would be the most effective way of convincing Congress and the American public invading Middle Eastern countries was worthwhile..," I'd be more willing to admit it makes SOME sense. Doesn't mean I'll believe it, probably won't; but it sure as hell beats this controlled demoliton theory. Anti-American sentiment had been boiling over for years prior to September 11. Original WTC attack, African Embassy bombings, USS Cole all proved Al-Qeada's intention to strike us. PNAC's assertion of a large scale attack leading to Middle Eastern policy change was not very prophetic, IMO. It was only a matter of time before a large scale attack occured on US soil. And if Bush was hell-bent on removing Saddam, which many believe is true, then that too would have happened eventually--9/11 or not. -

QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Jun 15, 2005 -> 03:44 PM) Yes, it cartainly would be a lot harder to dismiss any 9-11 conspiracy theories had PNAC not spelled out their intentions and their desire for a catylizing national tragedy so candidly and clearly. You would think so--but unfortunately this particular conspiracy theory is bulls***. I'd be more willing to believe our government allowed the 19 hijackers to orchestrate their attacks than accepting a controlled demolition brought down both WTC towers. -
QUOTE(Jabroni @ Jun 13, 2005 -> 03:37 PM) MJ himself admitted to sleeping with kids and giving them alcohol. How does he get off on those counts? Amazing. A litigous mother with a troubling past is apparently more compeling than a former pop star who's admitted to sleeping with little boys and handing out "jesus juice." How the hell was Peterson every guilty in this state?

Jurors attempting to remain anonymous, via Fox News. Sorry jurors. You'll have to explain yourselves after this debacle.
-
Court TV says Jackson portrayed no significant emotion. Just stood there, as if to wonder how the hell he's a free man. I suppose now we'll find out there was a OJSimpson glove moment where the prosecutors screwed themselves and moronic jurors used it as reasonable doubt.
-
f***ing bulls***. These Californian jurors, I tell ya.
-
107.5 FM: "We stress, that if Michael Jackson is found guilty, no one breaks out in violence." 92.3 FM: "Please, don't overreact to this verdict. Stay in your houses." Sad this even has to be issued for listeners.

QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Jun 13, 2005 -> 03:02 PM) So what do I need to bring for our 2 man riot? Flaming sticks Your fist--for shaking purposes AK-47

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 13, 2005 -> 02:54 PM) I see him fleaing the country to some other place that does not extradite and becomming a hero there.

Observing cable networks cover this story is almost as entertaining as the impending verdict. No one appears prepared, and networks are quick to relay on any information. Fox News doesn't even have a quality audio feed from the courtroom. They've had several months to prepare for this.

QUOTE(bighurt4444 @ Jun 12, 2005 -> 11:13 PM) 36 minutes is how long it took for the Baseball Tonight crew to even mention the White Sox. Yeah, we had to make sure we saw the Royals vs. DBacks highlights before we could see highlights of the best team in baseball. I am usually not a big supporter of the "Sox always get disrespected by the media" club, but this is just plain stupid. The best team in baseball has a record of 42-20 and hits a 10th inning 3-run homer to win a game and we don't see highlights of it for 36 minutes. What a joke. I know its always going to be this way, and its fine by me. Keep winning under the radar. I'm sure if the Sox lost in that 10th inning, they would have made the first segment. This disrespect from people like Baseball Tonight just make winning all the more sweet! Go Sox!!! Welcome aboard, son. I also noticed it took Baseball Tonight an exceedingly long time to run our highlights. But honestly, it doesn't upset me as long as there's no unwarranted criticism or snide remarks from ESPN. Kruk ripping our low attendance or Phillips questioning Guillen, however, is more disrespectful.

QUOTE(robinventura23 @ Jun 10, 2005 -> 04:29 PM) I saw him. They even replayed his horrid sportscast. It's amazing how many shows said his catchphrase. Anyone have a link to his sportscast? I'm may be the only one who has yet to enjoy his call.

Organization philsophy at work. 'Plus' secondary pitches, average fastball would likely describe 95% of our minor league pitchers. These draft rankings should come as no surprise. As Palehose, danman have eluded to, the list is merely a projection of the likelihood pics will succeed. Obviously, Broadway doesn't give the author too much hope. Does anyone else become tired of seeing Oakland and Minnesota atop these lists? Who do they have employed as scouting directors which allows them to continually draft well? I may rip the fundementals of Moneyball, but Beane's people continue to assemble quality draft pics. Our system needs an overhaul.

QUOTE(JimH @ Jun 10, 2005 -> 02:04 PM) It's so easy. Matt Cullen, Wheaton IL. Anyone know this guy? Anyone need his email address LOL?? You're not fooling. It's very easy. To Jason's credit, his home address is left out of the domain registration. Mr. Cullen, however, has his full address listed. UH OH.

QUOTE(poorme @ Jun 9, 2005 -> 07:42 AM) from today's sun-times STAY AWAY: Williams was asked his thoughts on this year's draft, which ended Wednesday, and he came to a realization. ''The one thing that I have had to come to terms with is, I [stink] at amateur scouting,'' Williams said. ''I am so much better at evaluating minor-league players and major-league players that it's probably best for me to just get out of the way.'' I've always wondered why our organization is fascinated with developing Felix Diaz clones. Now I know. Minnesota's 1st selection, on the contrary, was a typical pick: Pitcher with a 92-94 mph fastball, low 80's slider, and a developing curveball, changeup. Garza should be contributing by the time Nathan leaves and Crain takes over the closers role.

Judging from Sabean's Hawkins deal, we might not have to give up anything for Pedro Feliz. With Ozuna and Harris in the infield, and our outfield already jammed, I don't feel it's necessary to trade for him.

QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jun 8, 2005 -> 11:30 PM) He did well IMHO when he was called up. He get's sent back and pitches like s***. Maybe, just maybe, his case is that he pitches UP to the talent he faces? Maybe he is already MLB ready? I was encouraged with his potential, but I didn't feel McCarthy pitched well. Obviously the drubbing in Texas, but even in the Cub game he gave up numerous hard hit outs. He was a two pitch pitcher both games. Increase velocity, develop other pitch, or else prepare yourself for the bullpen.
-
QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jun 8, 2005 -> 10:24 PM) 4IP, 9H, 6ER, 1HR. And yet, McCarthy remains the highest regarded pitcher within our system. Since Buehlre in 2000, which contributing pitchers have been developed? For a contending team not spending 100 million on payroll, this is terrible. Once again, I have to question our organizations inability to produce pitching talent. Others may suggest McCarthy's current situation is an aberration; perhaps cite Charlotte's small dimensions. But his last several starts have been bad. I realize he's young, and yet to fully develop (both physically and mechanically), but this trend of observing our perceived 'talent' being crushed is cause for concern. It's sad when Sergio Mitre can outperform any pitcher from our minor leagues.

If the mafia would quit throwing corpses in the water, perhaps these great white sharks wouldn't be attracted to coast line regions. It's OBVIOUSLY the problem here.

I caught Sportscenter last night, and was treated to a video highlight of another typical Minnesota Twins victory. I don't neccessarily classify 'typical Minnesota victory' as luck, because they've been doing it for years, but watching them win these games on good fortune is their M.O. Hunter attempts to steal second, Valverde throws and the ball deflects off Cintron's glove. Should have been out. Hunter takes a huge turn for third, appears to be caught between bases. But Counsell's throw from short CF to Cintron is high. Tagged not applied quickly enough. To no one's surprise, Jacque Jones singles in Hunter for the eventual winning run. And yet again, this instance scoring at homeplate, Hunter barely escaped ANOTHER tag. Minnesota worked with 5 outs that inning. Only thing more fitting would have been a Lew Ford bloop-hit just out of the reach of a drawn in infield.

QUOTE(quickman @ Jun 7, 2005 -> 11:33 AM) Here is my official seal of approval. "Welcome kid, you have a 20% chance of making it to the show, you have a 70% chance of being traded, now go out there and blow your arm out." You can push the probability of being traded up to 90% if the slightest notion of talent is observed. You know, because "Prospects are prospects. 86 years without a champsionship...(cliches continue)"
