  1. I hope Dr. Strauss realizes he may have jeopardized the fabric of time with his invention. If Simpsons, Donnie Darko, and Butterfly Effect have taught me anything, which they have, it's time travel is serious business.
  2. Filmed here at the University of Illinois-Chicago. Few nearly a month after viewing this movie I wouldn't walk anywhere in my house without a light on.
  3. Marte appeared to show little effort during yesterdays outting. Anyone else notice his slurve was rather flat? Watching the replay on CSN none of his pitches exceeded 92mph; and his delivery (as SSI referenced) appeared ackward. May have been the slightly lowered camera angles deceiving my eyes, but he didn't appear to be showcasing his usual three-quarters delivery. I know it's spring training, but I've never seen the radar readings of Marte's previous outtings. Is this an abberation?
  4. The real question should be what does Jay Mariotti think of this HR? You know he's currently drafting another article with regurgitated quotes.
  5. QUOTE(LowerCaseRepublican @ Mar 7, 2005 -> 09:25 PM) Now Italian Secret Service agents are backing the story produced by the journalist, so it kind of puts a damper on the "commie b****" theory regarding this case. Cuz Burlusconi can be called a lot of things but definitely not a Communist. All Burlusconi is responsible for is his willingness to appease disgruntled citizens. Nowhere does he create these far fetched conspiracy theories. His comments merely imply a investigation of this incident should be done to prevent similar miscommunications from transpiring. But you already know what potential investigations will find: "US military acted in accordance with the developing situation," "Communication failures existed among Italians, Americans." Ultimately, neither country wil shoulder the bourden. Nothing will be solved. What descredits Sgrena's account is her ridiculous assassination theory. Why again would she be targed? To show those pizza slinging Italians negotiating ransom-for-hostage swaps only encourage further violence? If she was truly marked, why exactly is she alive? "400 rounds" should have killed everyone traveling within her convoy. I truly believe the Italian drivers are responsible. Americans guarding checkpoints likely watch thousands of cars pass through their desonated areas. Whenever one decides to speed, or ignore requests to stop, the obvious assumption is these people are driving explosive-laced automobiles. I don't care what this communist newspaper columnist says, she was neither targeted nor blindly attacked.
  6. Why did Cotts pitch to only two batters? Ozzie should have left him in.
  7. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Mar 7, 2005 -> 03:13 PM) Hawk taking a shot at moneyball. I've waitied all winter for Hawk to boast. Did he say, "Let's see how much of a genius he is without two, 20-game winners."
  8. QUOTE(Steff @ Mar 7, 2005 -> 03:05 PM) I don't think insinuating Frank smokes pot is fine. If you pot heads want to admit you do that s***, fine.. but I think it's ignorant to post such bulls***. Overreacting a bit, don't you think? No worse than any of the other slanderous comments on this board.
  9. Depending on how long this rain delay lasted, I'd caution on bringing McCarthy back out. Do the Sox really need to press their top pitching prospect? He'll have his opportunity again.
  10. Thomas should be infuriated. He has never been implicated as a steroid user, so what exactly warrants his name on this list? I agree with everyone this doesn't look good. Not because of any potential finger pointing, but associating with these supposed steroid users will raise eyebrows. Baseball fans unfamiliar with Frank won't know any better. I'm interested in hearing Thomas' response. I wouldn't mind seeing Thomas completely descredit steroid users, in addition to demanding his 2000 MVP trophy from Giambi.
  11. I take it runs surrendered by Cotts were due to another pitcher, right?
  12. QUOTE(winninguglyin83 @ Mar 2, 2005 -> 02:12 PM) Rockies out in the firtst. Single by Helton. That's it. Pods leading off for the Sox. Farmio suggested that the Sox might be showcasing Adkins for a trade. Also said that Harris could still beat out Iguchi for the job at second. Pods lead off single to right. Yes, sir. How were Adkins three outs recorded? Who is pitching for Colorado?
  13. QUOTE(TheBigHurt35 @ Mar 1, 2005 -> 01:31 PM) Nothing wrong with your choice, but your dislike of gangsta rap doesn't make people like 50 Cent "talentless." I'd guess that, like most other people on this site (including myself), you would fail miserably if you even tried to put together a rap song. Hell, I'll even admit that Britney Spears has more musical talent than I do. At the very least, she can sing a hell of a lot better than I can. Mainstream rap succeeds with a blend of street credibility, marketability, and talent (least important.) Surviving gunshots covers 'street cred', affiliation with Eminem/Dr. Dre fills marketability, and his lyrics/singing talent are often muffed by loud beats. 50's not necessarily rapping as much as talking "breezy;" a termed used in "Wangsta." Now, take into account I'm a fan of rap music. Several of 50's songs I enjoy. However, he's the least talented of mainstream rappers on the market. Honestly, I could rap better than 50 if given the opportunity. Difference is I'd be laughed out of the studio. Picture entering the rap business as a urbanized version of American Idol. Addressing a comment earlier: although I can't locate the website, a large percentage of rap albums are purchased by people who live outside city limits. Those who have no experience dodging bullets, or selling drugs to survive.
  14. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Mar 1, 2005 -> 12:51 AM) Phil Rodgers: Guillen two-faced in ripping Ordonez What does Rogers expect? Did anyone anticipate Ozzie disagreeing with management's decision to decline arbitration based on comments uttered 7 years ago? Whether or not he believed management created a smear campaign, it's his job to spin everything pro-whitesox. f***ing dolt. Seriously, it's ridiculous. It appears no matter how Guillen addressed this issue, criticism was awaiting.
  15. QUOTE(KipWellsFan @ Feb 28, 2005 -> 11:25 PM) I've got hos, I've got hooooooooos, in different area codes, areeeeeaaaa, areeeeeeeaaa coooooodes I'm repping 204 strong! 708 should run strong this poll.
  16. QUOTE(CubKilla @ Feb 28, 2005 -> 03:16 PM) When the Sox win something then don't get any recognition I'll get pissed. Ignoring accomplishments is worse than disrespect. Not that we've accomplish much lately; which is why I don't complain when Harold Reynolds or John Kruk fail to acknowledge our presense. What irritates me more is local coverage which obscures White Sox news for Cub Propoganda. Cubs lose: stories are centered on explaining their collapse; accompanied with usual scape goats and curse nonsense. Cubs win: media shifts into overdrive; World Series tickets are printed, and feeble Sox fans are "jealous". Cub's 2003 magical run set a dangerous precedence for covering Northside baseball. They will always remain the story. If any team merits disrespectful status it's Minnesota. Three time division champions, and they were practically ignored entering ALDS. Similarly, a divisional title won't change the national media's exposure of our club. Advancing far into the playoffs, however, will.
  17. QUOTE(sox4lifeinPA @ Feb 28, 2005 -> 12:09 AM) Jennifer Garner stole Brian Urlacher's shoulders.... Agree. I've always thought she appeared too manly. Her facial features are too chiseled. Women like Julia Roberts, Selma Hayek, or Zeta Jones is where its at.
  18. QUOTE(valponick @ Feb 26, 2005 -> 04:17 PM) I think the only one that is locked up is Jamie Foxx for Best Actor. I'm kind of feeling Eastwood for Best Director and The Aviator for Best Picture. Jamie Foxx and Martine Scorsese are, without a doubt, two nominees guaranteed to win their categories. Scorsese's past nominations, director whom won the award: -2002: Gangs of New York. Roman Polanski (The Pianist) -1990: Goodfellas. Kevin Costner (Dances with Wolves) -1989: Last Temptation of Christ. Barry Levinson (Rain Man) -1981: Raging Bull. Robert Redford (Ordinary People) :headshake
  19. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Feb 26, 2005 -> 12:46 AM) I watched a Steven Seagal movie just so I could get the info to download a reggae song. Was this the song featured at the end of "Born to Kill?"
  20. I agree with Guillen. You know Hernandez won't take s*** if he's willing to throw inside to a teammate. Glad to have him aboard.
  21. QUOTE(AnthraxFan93 @ Feb 25, 2005 -> 02:28 PM) Truth.. KW hasn't won s***.. I share this particular criticism of Williams. Regardless of how he assembles the team to mimmick his "grinder" vision, or whether or not he actively persues improvements for the Sox, it remains clear he has yet to produce a division title. IMO, these next two seasons are crucial to his reign. Several contracts signed last year/ this offseason expire following 06; at which point the success of "ozzieball" can be appropriately measured. Hopefully, the vision many sox fans (including myself) support will break our 4 year drought. If someone objects to this, convince me otherwise. Reinsdorf's loyalty, or comparing the corresponding records of Twins/A's GM's during the first several years won't cut it. Results define success; six years without a playoff appearance should be grounds for dismissal.
  22. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Feb 25, 2005 -> 02:17 PM) for me the best rivalries are when the teams are around even and the fans hate each other with passion.... in history of baseball the yankees have been >>>> than the red sox so to me it isnt that great of a rivarly...... I think the best rivalry in sports is the packers-bears one thats just in sleep until Favre finally leaves...... i mean cmon what other rivalry can take credit for inventing overtime in their sport? Green Bay's domination of the Bears extends Favre's entire career. Everyone sure as hell knows animosity between fans/players has yet to extinguish itself over 12+ years. This ultimately proves the record of rival teams, while important, isn't essential. I believe geography and history are the greatest factors to a rivarly.
  23. Borchard putting together a quality spring is the best Williams can hope for. Give him some value; perhaps some team will believe his potential can be harnessed in a new environment. Sure as hell can't identify any other selling points besides isolated, Bunyonesque power. Any rate, I'm glad he's out of the picture. No more talk about "making judgements with a small sample size," or insisting Jo-Bo can breakthrough because "[insert Player] wasn't great for [insert Years] either."
  24. Kenneth: Peaked 15th in 1930's. Continues downward trend into 2003 (109).
  25. It's sad observing wrestling's fall from grace. Several weeks ago, there was a PPV plug for a steel cage match involving Big Show. Now, this is a good example of bad marketing cojoined with terrible scheduling. How the hell can you include the oaf formely named Big Show in a cage match? Did anyone expect him to climb the base, or add any interesting elements to this matchup? Cage matches should be held exclusively for the most daring wrestlers; those willing to perfom high acrobatic moves. Where's the "Homicidal, Suicidal, Genocidal" maniac Sabu these days? These wrestling decisions keep veteran fans (such as myself) away from the sport.
