  1. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Mar 28, 2005 -> 10:13 AM) So, these vigilantes have actually caused violent immigrants to cross the border. I love it. What exactly is to "love" about violent criminals targeting our citizens? United States government doesn't appear intent on addressing this issue.
  2. You weren't lying, Cheat. Great article. National writers assessing our offseason are often unfamiliar, or bewildered, with the motives behind our acquisitions. Trading Carlos Lee and allowing Ordonez to leave were the sexy moves writers often questioned. Someone did their homework. Besides the "Cell Phone Field" comment, which may have been an honest mistake, "Studes" covered all offseason acquisitions and their potential impacts.
  3. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Mar 27, 2005 -> 05:44 PM) It is now DESTINED for Illinois to win. Be careful Illini fans. While you may not be aware, you're beginning to sound like a certain Northside ballclub two seasons ago. /voted for Illinois
  4. QUOTE(3E8 @ Mar 26, 2005 -> 03:00 PM) Every pitcher has one of these days. Yeah, just appears to happen more often to our pitchers.
  5. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Mar 25, 2005 -> 11:35 PM) No chance They slowed it down and there 3rd step was completely imaginary, he took 2 then hung and shot, but whatever I found it hilarious CBS announcers viewed the supposed travel in slow motion and asked the viewers to count along with them. "1.....2...(quickly) 3...He traveled! Good call."
  6. Dougly, Trolley's are quickly establishing themselves as the new transportation of choice. It's the OBVIOUS decision.
  7. QUOTE(Jabroni @ Mar 24, 2005 -> 06:03 PM) The scary thing about this is that they may be able to isolate the dinosaur's DNA so the movie "Jurassic Park" could actually come true. What's the use? PETA would only demand its release into the wild, citing inhumane treatment.
  8. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Mar 23, 2005 -> 04:34 PM) He hit a homer in his previous at-bat. If anything, doesn't that show that he's a fiery guy? I thought that's what Ozzie liked. Nothing really happened. Marte and Lee exchanged some "friendly" words, the benches cleared, but they weren't really close to fighting. Sorry if I got some people excited, I didn't really elaborate at first... How did Carlos appear after hitting his homerun? Did you notice if he may have posed, or glanced towards the Sox dugout?
  9. Lee pushed the umpire back when approaching Marte. Wonder if he'll receive a suspension.
  10. This really hurts the Giants. His presence in the lineup completely alters the game. Unless there's a stud outfield prospect in the their system, Sabean may need to initiate a trade. Everett anyone?
  11. I was very surprised this story recieved practically no media coverage early in the afternoon, when the news first broke. Browsing Yahoo stories I noticed a school shooting had occured nearly two hours earlier. Quickly, I turn to CNN and notice commentary devoted to Schiavo. FOX, MSNBC were following similar measures. Very strange; especially in this age of up-to-the-minute, 24 hour news networks searching for new stories. News copters were in route over Columbine nearly 10 minutes after media outlets learned of the shooting in Littleton. You have to wonder whether the same approach would have been followed if these shooting occured outside an Indian reservation. Not that it matters; 10 people are still dead. I just found it rather odd.
  12. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Mar 21, 2005 -> 09:58 PM) It doesn't matter about the agent... The salary values sky rocket at free agency. Getting an extra year out of a player @ close to 300K is a big deal, when in 6 years the salaries are going to be through the roof, no matter if he resigns or not. I agree an extra year is important, but you appear more willing to peer 6 years in the future than 2 months ahead. I'd rather worry about 2010 when it's 2008. Management has assembled a team to compete this year. Even Kenny Williams doesn't possess a chart spanning 6 years. If the White Sox need McCarthy to replace Buehrle, and its been established he'll miss 4-6 weeks, Brandon is the best option available. Are you willing to trust Cotts/Hermanson/Adkins in the 5th starters role? If beginning McCarthy's arbitration clock early helps our team manage Buehrle's loss, it's well worth it. Only problem I worry about is McCarthy's status once Buehrle returns. I agree with others who have said it will push the limits of Williams' creativeness. Hopefully Buehrle's rehabilitation runs smoothy, as to avoid any discussion of assigning McCarthy to the starting rotation.

I completely understand your criticism of Hawk. He often spouts the company line to unbearable heights. If we're down by 5+ runs early in a game; ie: Munoz's Montreal start, I often find it impossible to listen to Hawk. He'll barrage viewers with philosophies of Ozzieball until a comeback mounts. As it did in Montreal. However, I've grown up listening to Hawk and will continue until he's forcibly removed.
  14. QUOTE(3E8 @ Mar 21, 2005 -> 02:44 PM) He threw a 92 MPH fastball. Last inning it appeared his fastballs were hovering around 89-90. I'm probably overreacting in light of Buehrle's injury, and his lack of starts this ST.
  15. Garcia is beginning to worry me. Either he's milking his start this afternoon, or there's an underlying injury dampering his performance. Garica's fastball has yet to exceed 85mph, whereas his slider was clocked 68mph several occasions.
  16. So- Who will be the first to proclaim this firing racially motivated? I'm betting Stephen A. Smith will entertain us all with a loud rant discussing the recent dismissal of several (Willingham, Portland coach, Silas) head coaches.
  17. QUOTE(KipWellsFan @ Mar 20, 2005 -> 03:50 PM) http://www.cnn.com/2005/WORLD/asiapcf/03/2...k.ap/index.html I hate when they always try to hunt down the killer afterwards. How effective could that possibly be? Flassoxjim posted a similar "Shark Tears Man In Half" story several months ago. I believe the attack also took place in Australia. Hunting the shark is an action taken to calm the public. Don't know why, not is if this shark was a renegrade mutant.
  18. QUOTE(qwerty @ Mar 19, 2005 -> 06:51 PM) Uw-mil> bc. They win 83-75 and will face illinois in the sweet 16. Milwaukee's win should bring warranted attention to the Horizon League. Although I hate Bruce Pearl, and more specifically their obnoxious fans, UWM has stood up against two quality teams.
  19. QUOTE(YASNY @ Mar 18, 2005 -> 01:45 PM) I'll give Canseco his "honorable mention". I'll even give him the money he made on the book. Now, just go away Jose. Big Mac's HOF candicacy just took a big hit. I believe Sosa will eventual take a major hit. He's not smart enough to dodge this until he's elected to the HOF. As I said earlier, Raffy Palmeiro I'd have to give the benefit of the doubt .... today. Watching ESPN debate Mac's HOF status earlier in the day, there appeared to be a consensus among panelists his appointment into the hall was guaranteed- regardless of past discretions. What could happen, if you believe ESPN's baseball analysts, is Mac may not be selected his first eligible year. Journalists are instructed to consider attitude, demeanor, and various other traits expected of an ambassador to MLB when casting their votes.Ripken and Gwynn, also eligibile for induction in 2008, are honorable baseball players who will further draw constrasts from McGwire. If it were my choice, I'd never vote McGwire in the hall. What exactly is he supposed to say during his introduction cerermony? "Through hard work and dedication I'm happy to have been voted in this prestigious institution." BULLs***, Mac.
  20. Speaking of Kansas' disgraceful loss, where's Wsoxshuf? I'd love to hear him analyze this loss.
  21. I hope Illinois doesn't buckle under the imposing influence of the Illinois Native American Bar Association. Seriously, I don't. Due to the incessant whining of these plantiffs, I intend to purchase every shirt glorifying The Chief.
  22. QUOTE(Steff @ Mar 17, 2005 -> 08:07 PM) Woooaaahhhh... Manfred indicated earlier that there was NO document created when it was first requested and it had to be created before it was sent. I hope they go back and review his testimony.... He totally just lied. Well, according to Manfred a "final" draft wasn't completed upon request. He'll probably argue the linguistic value of "document," and how a rough draft doesn't fit that term. That's the technical difference, among others, constantly brought up during these discussions. It appears unless someone institutes a policy which is 100% clear, no one knows what the hell to do.
  23. Everyone must have been ignorant of this steroid issue. If you believe MLB goons. Supposedly, Canseco didn't push steroid reform, and neither did any MLB officials (esp. Selig, MLBPA officials) until- out of the blue- Selig decides stringent policy is needed. What a f***ing dope. This is becoming irritating. I'd respect Selig right now if he would simply admit problems were ignored for financial purposes.
  24. Black congressman gave a great analogy of real life. People in his district, if caught possessing illicit drugs, are immediately thrown into jails if convicted. They're livelihoods are ruined, yet we're supposed to care about a major leaguers' salaries? Fueher, however, believes "progressive punishment."
  25. Discussions becoming heated between hearing members and MLBPA officials. This is great television. The squirmy lawyer responsible for drafting the newly adopted drug policy was put in his place; basically questioned of his role.
