Dan Jennings Traded to TB for Casey Gillaspie

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jul 28, 2017 -> 08:25 AM) Good start for Jennings in a Rays jersey, two batters faced, two singles given up. ERA & WHIP are infinity. Fun with sample sizes We won the trade -
Now that the bigger trades have happened and some minor ones, we still have Gonzalez, Holland, Clippard, and Melky left to trade if so be it. The guys that I think will have the most interest from teams are Melky (still a great hitter) and Gonzalez (back end guy to eat innings for contender) I think Melky would look great back in a Royals uniform for their playoff run. If we eat some money like Jon Heyman tweeted that he thinks we will, I think we can net back an organizational top 10-15 prospect like SS Nicky Lopez and LHP LHP Richard Lovelady Mariners are keeping hope alive and buying at the deadline as they were rumored to be going after Sonny Gray. Don't think they have enough ammo for him, but I think Gonzalez could be a good back end piece to keep them somewhat in the race. I'd expect a return of 3B Joe Rizzo. Clippard and Holland I think we would get minor league depth guys. What you guys think will happen from now until Monday?

QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jul 25, 2017 -> 05:09 PM) Lol...the Brewers. But hey, it can't hurt to ask! I know lol. What about Brett Phillips straight up? 12th rated prospect in the system, close to the majors. Could replace Melky once he's gone. -

QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 25, 2017 -> 02:36 PM) It's more that the injury really killed what should have been his year to shine. Not giving up on him at all. Ok good because he has made hitters look silly this year when he wants to, but lacks the fastball command right now. If he figures that out, we're talking top 10 pitcher in the game. -

QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 25, 2017 -> 02:29 PM) Rodon really sucks so far this year. Hope he shows improvement as he's another guy we need to be good for the rebuild to work He had no spring training and missed most of the year dude. Gotta give him time. The stuff is still electric -
QUOTE (Lillian @ Jul 25, 2017 -> 10:52 AM) Does any of this discussion change anyone's expectations for the 2020 starting rotation and bullpen? What is your best guess for the pitching staff, based upon the current talent in the organization? My guess would be Rodon (unless he's traded), Kopeck, Lopez, Hansen and Cease. I don't know what to think of Giolito. Do you guys think that he'll make it? Fulmer, Burdi and the rest of the top guys would battle for bullpen spots. Giolito will be fine and I think will be a mid rotation starter.

QUOTE (steveno89 @ Jul 25, 2017 -> 09:10 AM) Converting players like Swarzak into prospect(s) is going to be key to the rebuild. I'd look to land a young middle infield prospect with upside. I agree or even OF prospects in rookie ball that are 18-19 years old. -

QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jul 25, 2017 -> 08:09 AM) I think the odds are Swarzak is dealt alone. He's pretty much a fit for any contender. Melky & Gonzalez are going to have much more limited markets and I don't think packaging one of them with Swarzak will greatly change the prospect return. I do think Swarzak gets traded alone too, but I disagree with your second part. I think you can package Gonzalez if you wanted to because he has pitched well recently and on a fairly cheap deal, while Melky still has over 5 million left on his deal. -
QUOTE (Feeky Magee @ Jul 24, 2017 -> 04:45 PM) I like this. Really quite good for most of his career in the majors. Not good this year but what the hell, worth a shot. I do too. Always been a fan of his and he has pretty nasty stuff. Hopefully he can rebound.

For Swarzak, I'd target low A ball players like SS Yasel Antuna and SS Jose Sanchez -
Do our players need to choke up on the bat more?
GGajewski18 replied to ron883's topic in Pale Hose Talk
In my opinion, I don't care whether or not they choke up on the bat or not. Yes, I know it cuts the down the swing to make better contact, but some players are just not comfortable doing it. When I played, I never choked up on the bat because I wasn't comfortable and it completely changed my swing. With the examples of Rizzo and Schwarber, they already swing with 2 hands as is so it's much easier to just choke up and shorten up compared to someone with swing of a Todd Frazier -
QUOTE (2005thxfrthmmrs @ Jul 24, 2017 -> 09:29 AM) Also part of the Sosa fan club here. I mentioned the same thing last week. I'm hoping he plays well enough to earn a promotion to GF in the coming weeks. The SS position there looks pretty weak. Curbelo was there and now it's Nunez I believe who is also a big INT signing.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 22, 2017 -> 12:35 AM) I get so mad watching the games. I can't remember a Sox team that has ever trotted out such horrendous starting pitching. It's really an insult to Chicago sports fans everywhere. I just don't like it. As a proud Sox fan I have the right to feel embarrassed and saddened by this horses*** team. Just look at a few years ago at what the Cubs trotted out there as their everyday lineup compared to now. There is a reason we are this bad....get over it

Frazier to Boston Rumors getting heavy
GGajewski18 replied to whitesoxwinner's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jul 17, 2017 -> 04:00 PM) Lowrie can play 2nd as well. Gives them a good utility player for next year. But he has limited power, and the Red Sox need power. But an expensive utility player at that when they already have Brock Holt on the roster. I agree with Balta that Lowrie doesn't make sense.
