Hawks trade Panik and Dauphin for Duclair and Clendenning. Great deal for the Hawks. -
White Sox acquire Joakim Soria, Luis Avilan and $3 Million

QUOTE (greg775 @ Jan 5, 2018 -> 10:17 PM) What you guys are telling me is you didn't want me to shed some light on the fact KC fans wanted to run Soria out of town last season and blamed him for everything. I should have stifled myself I guess. Everybody from little kids to little ol ladies wanted to run Soria out of Kansas City. I enjoy reading all the stats in these threads. I guess you'll just have to wait and see. Again it doesn't matter cause we are a 60ish win team again so let Soria pitch all he wants. Those of you who root for losses will enjoy seeing him serve up meat ... UNLESS Mr. Coop works magic. ... I'll stop now. But you have to admit you can do a lot of things with stats and apologists have really been trying their best to support Jack with stats in this thread. The stats say he was pretty good, but you can ignore that like you usually do because KC fans say that he was bad. ok. -
Where does Luis Robert start 2018?

QUOTE (oldsox @ Jan 5, 2018 -> 07:32 PM) In a perfect world he would have been at Kanny in 2017 instead of the DR. Tax reasons were the cause of this. It's really not a big deal. -
QUOTE (CWSpalehoseCWS @ Jan 4, 2018 -> 07:43 PM) Interesting. Guess they would have put him back at 3B? I'd stick him in LF with Delmonico and they can alternate playing the field and DH'ing

Greg, Soria had a 2.23 FIP last year and striking out over 10 hitters per 9 innings. He was damn good last year. -

QUOTE (danman31 @ Jan 4, 2018 -> 05:53 PM) I can assure you that is not true. The bonus pod is Hall of Fame related I think he could of. If not, scrap that podcast and edit it to talk about the trade. -

QUOTE (KnightsOnMintSt @ Jan 4, 2018 -> 05:50 PM) Any guesses on who could be on the move from the White Sox? I would guess a high priced player from our team (Shields) or minor league depth like Jacob May or someone like that. -

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jan 4, 2018 -> 05:44 PM) I hope Joc Pederson is involved. That is a reclamation project I could get behind. I agree with this, but I definitely think it's Kemp plus a couple prospects for something -
QUOTE (Jack Parkman @ Jan 2, 2018 -> 11:40 PM) I despise all of the "hot names" in coaching this offseason. Have a horrible feeling whoever they pick, they are doomed. Pick a name out of a hat, why dontcha, because everyone's getting s***canned in 2020. Well, why? They are all great candidates.

Pace has a press conference on New Year's day after the final game. Tells me Fox is gone and that Pace (like we expected) has kept his job.

QUOTE (Quin @ Dec 28, 2017 -> 12:01 AM) Do we watch the same Portis? He's a matador on defense. Meanwhile Niko has been diving all of the place for loose balls and keeps his feet moving. And no, Portis' attitude sucks because he's always mean mugging and flexing after every shot. That's fine for the big moments, but it's all the damn time. I respectively disagree. -

QUOTE (Quin @ Dec 26, 2017 -> 11:27 PM) Portis' attitude and defense both suck, but his value is skyrocketing at the moment due to the winning. He makes me think of Boozer, but if Boozer had an insufferable attitude. Niko can play new age center next to Lauri. Niko is a better shooter, but Portis is definitely the better defender and can still shoot the ball. Have you seen Niko play defense, 0 toughness, and would get eaten alive down low. That's why I think Portis can be because of the style he plays. Also, how does Portis' attitude suck? Because he punched a guy? -

QUOTE (Quin @ Dec 26, 2017 -> 09:59 PM) Trade Portis and Lopez ASAP. Reevaluate Niko on the 15, trade Holiday then. Trade Niko keep Portis. Portis has that grit, edge to come off the bench on a good team I think. He can score and rebound the ball, plus he's younger and cheaper. -

QUOTE (danman31 @ Dec 23, 2017 -> 09:14 PM) And Kassius Robertson who shoots over 40% from 3 couldn't make a shot. The better team didn't win tonight, but I don't mean to say Mizzou deserved it. Just that Illinois remains awful and Mizzou lost to an awful team. That f***ing sucks. For all of Mizzou's supposed talent, they probably remain on the bubble this year and games like this won't help the cause. Cuonzo Martin. That's why. Dude is an awful coach. Illinois' best players are freshmen outside of Leron Black. Can't wait to add Ayo to this young group. -
QUOTE (SoxAce @ Dec 23, 2017 -> 07:17 PM) I strongly believe it'll be Jeter when he's eligible. 0 chance that'll happen. Griffey is probably the best player ever. I'm probably in the minority, but I thought Jeter was vastly overrated, especially defensively.

QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Dec 22, 2017 -> 10:05 AM) Who might they try to dump with a bad contract? Prado. -
Jerry Crasnick @jcrasnick The #WhiteSox and #Marlins recently discussed Christian Yelich, but never got much traction. Chicago has a deep enough farm system to match up with Miami, but talks failed to advance beyond the "routine dialogue'' stage. Rival executives think the #Marlins will hang onto Yelich. Think this deserves it's own thread. Love the aggressiveness from Hahn. Never hurts to try.
