  1. QUOTE (Lemon_44 @ Jul 24, 2013 -> 08:58 PM) Would Middlebrooks, Ranaudo, and Brentz be enough in people's eyes as a return for Peavy? Replace Bentz with Owens and I'll do it but Boston won't.
  2. QUOTE (Dunt @ Jul 24, 2013 -> 08:29 PM) Damn, so he is hitting .421/.450/.684/1.134 since the AS break and he hasn't even been trying?! That is what Hahn is showing other GMs
  3. Santana has been very inconsistent in his career, and this year he is pitching in a pitchers ballpark. And one poster said something about money, I believe Peavy is only making 2 million more than Santana if I'm not mistaken.
  4. QUOTE (Baron @ Jul 24, 2013 -> 07:53 PM) http://www.cbssports.com/mlb/blog/danny-kn...lers-and-buyers Royals interested in Rios Beat me to it Baron.
  5. Danny Knobler just tweeted saying that Royals could be deadline buyers and sellers. Looking for right fielders, looking at Rios.
  6. QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 24, 2013 -> 04:15 PM) Teams are going to want him before he starts tomorrow, I would think. Definitely before his start on the 30th I agree, that what's Bucket was saying that closer it gets the less he can say. Makes me thing that Peavy to Boston could happen very soon in my opinion. And no matter what team it is, I think it would be smart of Hahn to trade him before his start tomorrow.
  7. Heyman also tweeting Rangers after Rios.
  8. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 24, 2013 -> 03:57 PM) Not the high price tag, but the part about being unsure about wanting to keep him for next year. I understand the price tag. But with Peavy, a team will get a #2 starter. And if this is true than Boston seems best fit because they can add payroll.
  9. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 24, 2013 -> 03:54 PM) Well that's a bit confusing. Just makes me think even more this is leaked crap. That is confusing. And what you think is more leaked? That the price it to high or teams bluffing about being skeptical Peavy's contract?
  10. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jul 24, 2013 -> 03:33 PM) More news about the Rangers interest in OF Alex Rios TR Sullivan ‏@Sullivan_Ranger 6m Rangers discussing Rios with White Sox http://wp.me/p1rXwL-8WL4 Sardinas and Odor and call it a day.
  11. QUOTE (mike65 @ Jul 24, 2013 -> 03:19 PM) Well, I have given Peavy a lot of thought but Crain has not been part of my thinking. This will be a little long but stick with me. I value what Beltran could mean as a mentor to Oscar Taveras next year so if the Cardinals keep Beltran then there is no room for Adams going forward. So, I am not in the camp that would not want to deny Adams a career as a starting 1B. I also think that Craig is a better 1B than an OFer so I orefer him to Adams going forward. It would be awfully hard to cash in on Adams but because the team is built again to win this year. If you are built to win, you should go for it. Assuming that the White Sox share some of Peavy's salary, I would be willing to build a deal around Adams. I am thinking out loud here but, maybe, this for Peavy and Crain: Matt Adams Anthony Garcia Mark Rzepczynski Fernando Salas Low level pospect If we are doing Ramirez as part of it, I add Kozma The reason Salas and "Scrabble" , as Cardinal fans call him, are included is that I don't believe the White Sox are in 100%rebuild mode and getting two veteran but low cost relievers would be helpful going forward. Of course, you could design multiple trade scenarios and this is just one of an infinite number of them. Please feel free to fire away. I don't see that trade working because the Sox don't need pitching prospects. They need hitting prospects. In a package of Peavy and Crain, I would look at a trade involving Adams, Ramsey, Carson Kelly, and 2 lower level prospects
  12. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 24, 2013 -> 02:59 PM) Russell, Choice and Gray would be more than enough for Peavy Yeah it probably is lol. I would be happy with that.
  13. QUOTE (scs787 @ Jul 24, 2013 -> 02:39 PM) I'd want Freiman and Taylor+ or Choice and Head+ from Oakland. Honestly, I wouldn't even want any of those packages. I'd want Russell, Choice, Gray, and a filler.
  14. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Jul 24, 2013 -> 02:36 PM) The only way we should make a deal with Oakland is if all players we get in return are PTBNL, that's really the only way Billy Beane has surrendered good talent to the Sox over the years. Oakland PTBNL's were key to building the '05 World Series Roster. Cotts was a PTBNL in the Foulke/Koch deal and Miguel Olivo was acquired as a PTBNL in exchange for Chad Bradford. Lol agreed. I prefer to not trade with them. At all. Trading with that team just scares me.
  15. QUOTE (mike65 @ Jul 24, 2013 -> 02:35 PM) It is going to be the Cardinals; I just feel it Oh, by the way, the White Sox have had multiple scouts at all the games of the Cardinals home stand. Mike, you're a Cardinals fan, what would you give up for Peavy or Peavy and Crain?
  16. Just saw Dan Hayes retweet a Boston writer saying that Boston can add payroll but doesn't want to give up future. I read this and I'm thinking to myself, why even bother Boston? Have to give up something to get something especially Peavy and/or Crain. Or this could just be a bluff.
  17. I agree with most of you that the A's aren't my first or even second choice for Peavy and their package they would have to offer. Plus, just trading with Oakland gets me skeptical because it seems that that team never makes a bad trade.
  18. White Sox scouts at Portland Sea Dogs game. Ranaudo on the mound and Cecchini is DHing.
  19. You guys think if Semien and Micah Johnson keep having great seasons that we can Semein start at 2b in AAA next year and Micah in AA next year?
  20. Scouts there to probably see both Ranaudo and Cecchini today for a potential Peavy trade.
  21. Jon Heyman just tweeted, "although St. Louis likes Alexei R, ChiSox did not then down offer of Carlos Martinez" So was Gonzalez blowing smoke with his article?
  22. QUOTE (beck72 @ Jul 24, 2013 -> 07:35 AM) Which the sox have never played a part. We've always been the team that overlays for players at the deadline, not the sellers. Hence, you have a lot of skeptical Sox fans around here who don't think the returns will be that much for the top available SP. Another strong outing from Peavy and that should alleviate all reservations. any team in need of SP should want a guy like Peavy in their rotation in a pennant race-more so than Garza. Bucket said that things should happen soon, and that closer something gets, he can't say anything. This makes me think I don't think Peavy pitches tomorrow for the White Sox
  23. QUOTE (DirtySox @ Jul 23, 2013 -> 11:21 PM) Um. Really hope this isn't accurate. Martinez would be incredible for Alexei. Hell, Sickels has him as 9th best prospect in baseball on his newly released top 75. http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseb...0,3745533.story Reasons to decline this trade: had to pay most of remaining salary as others have stated. Package him with Peavy or Rios and get a larger return. Decline that to make teams think there could be a bidding war for him. There are better offers on the table for Alexei and Hahn just asks the Cards to improve their offer. Hopefully its the last one.
  24. QUOTE (bucket-of-suck @ Jul 23, 2013 -> 10:46 PM) I don't mean to be cryptic. You can expect some action soon. Other than Peavy to Boston, any other players that are close or has some legs to go Bucket?
