  1. Scouts there to probably see both Ranaudo and Cecchini today for a potential Peavy trade.
  2. Jon Heyman just tweeted, "although St. Louis likes Alexei R, ChiSox did not then down offer of Carlos Martinez" So was Gonzalez blowing smoke with his article?
  3. QUOTE (beck72 @ Jul 24, 2013 -> 07:35 AM) Which the sox have never played a part. We've always been the team that overlays for players at the deadline, not the sellers. Hence, you have a lot of skeptical Sox fans around here who don't think the returns will be that much for the top available SP. Another strong outing from Peavy and that should alleviate all reservations. any team in need of SP should want a guy like Peavy in their rotation in a pennant race-more so than Garza. Bucket said that things should happen soon, and that closer something gets, he can't say anything. This makes me think I don't think Peavy pitches tomorrow for the White Sox
  4. QUOTE (DirtySox @ Jul 23, 2013 -> 11:21 PM) Um. Really hope this isn't accurate. Martinez would be incredible for Alexei. Hell, Sickels has him as 9th best prospect in baseball on his newly released top 75. http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseb...0,3745533.story Reasons to decline this trade: had to pay most of remaining salary as others have stated. Package him with Peavy or Rios and get a larger return. Decline that to make teams think there could be a bidding war for him. There are better offers on the table for Alexei and Hahn just asks the Cards to improve their offer. Hopefully its the last one.
  5. QUOTE (bucket-of-suck @ Jul 23, 2013 -> 10:46 PM) I don't mean to be cryptic. You can expect some action soon. Other than Peavy to Boston, any other players that are close or has some legs to go Bucket?
  6. Anyone else impressed with Jacobs so far in Birmingham? He has shown he can hit so far and has real good at bats and driving in runs.
  7. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 23, 2013 -> 08:28 PM) I didn't know we had prominent scouts LOL this is hilarious. But this is what I like. Scouting the Cards hard. Give me Wong, Joe Kelly, and Adams and I'll be happy.
  8. QUOTE (DirtySox @ Jul 23, 2013 -> 07:07 PM) Ken Rosenthal ‏@Ken_Rosenthal 1mo Big move by #Orioles: Acquire K-Rod from #Brewers for IF Nick Delmonico. Expand Send Peavy and Crain to Red Sox and make them overpay big time. This is huge because KRod went to the O's
  9. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jul 23, 2013 -> 06:49 PM) I would hope we can be flexible on Freese. It's a little much (a lot much) to expect a contender to trade their productive third baseman. If they're willing to include Adams, we need to be flexible here. I agree. Just replace Freeze with Carson Kelly and Pisscotty
  10. QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Jul 23, 2013 -> 03:45 PM) Cubs got 3 of the top 15 Rangers prospects for a rental in Garza. Peavy worth at least that much if not more. just keep that in mind. If the Sox don't get at least that, just keep him. Agreed. Peavy makes so much sense to DBacks because now their falling back and they have the position prospects Sox want/need.
  11. White Sox tweeted that Crain is pitching off the mound today and hopes to.be back next Sunday or Monday
  12. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jul 23, 2013 -> 03:35 PM) Clay Buchholz now may not be back until September, which could get the Red Sox more interested in Peavy. Sorry to hear about Buchholz, but now it's time to overpay for Peavy.
  13. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Jul 23, 2013 -> 03:29 PM) If it was Wong, would that mean Beckham moves to SS? Or can Wong play elsewhere in the IF? That's only if Alexei goes with Peavy or Alexei goes to Pittsburgh with Rios is a possibility. But if it was Peavy AND Alexei to the Cardinals, if I'm Hahn, I would ask Martinez and Wong and 2 or 3 more players. But the centerpiece can't be Wong.
  14. QUOTE (Baron @ Jul 23, 2013 -> 03:22 PM) Hell I had a Cardinals fan tell me they wouldnt give up even Wong for Peavy and we should prepare to be gravely disappointed in the return for Peavy. That talk just makes me laugh. If we arent getting the value we want for Peavy then keep him. We have the leverage here. Agreed. If the Cardinals want to improve their team and make a deep post season wrong, they will have to get rid of some assets. If not, then Sox will move on to another team or will just keep Peavy as he is a key piece to the rotation.
  15. If Hahn were to trade with the Cardinals, I'd try to get Carlos Martinez. I think a Peavy for Wong, Martinez and Kelly would be a pretty solid deal. If Cardinals don't want to include Martinez then I would do Peavy and Lindstrom for Wong, Carson Kelly, Jenkins, Piscotty and Ramsey.
  16. QUOTE (mike65 @ Jul 23, 2013 -> 02:26 PM) "Cards emerge as darkhorse for Peavy" is the bottom line ticker on MLB show "The Rundown". I mentioned that last night, Wong was not in the Memphis lineup or the night before and there is no injury. That was in addition to the Cards promoting a AA 2B to Memphis and a Hi-A 2B to Springfield. I felt last night and I feel today that something is happening althought I am not sure of what. I wonder if a package of Martinez Wong and another player for Peavy would be good.enough?
  17. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jul 23, 2013 -> 01:35 PM) http://www.cbssports.com/mlb/blog/jon-heym...l-peavy-suitors Not unexpected that Heyman says Red Sox and Cards emerging as top suitors of Peavy possibly with Az in the mix. That's all we've been talking about here. Peavy and Alexei makes so much sense to the Cards its scary . I agree. But they have to overpay for them.
  18. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Jul 23, 2013 -> 01:19 PM) If Hahn doesn't get a Garza package or better for Peavy, he shouldn't make the deal, and he should tell those teams that are coming up short with their offers that he's going to text them a photo of Peavy every time their #5 starter is out there getting shelled in August and September. Lol I agree. You get a package that's equal or just as much as what Cubs got for Garza. Cardinals BoSox or DBacks definitely have to overpay.
  19. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Jul 23, 2013 -> 11:54 AM) With Grilli out for the season, does a trade with the Pirates make more sense tha ever, given that we can package a reliever along with Rios and fill two holes for them? Is he for sure out for the season?
  20. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jul 23, 2013 -> 10:34 AM) No, I could really care less. I don't think this team is far off, even if the record indicates otherwise. I think you go out and get a legitimate CF next year (and move De Aza to LF), deal Viciedo off in a package for a solid, youngish 3B, and you have a fairly competitive team in those two moves. And, even with this said, if they sell off 3-7 pieces, I think a change would be refreshing. More than anything else, I want the season to be over I agree. That makes sense.
  21. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 23, 2013 -> 10:23 AM) We can tell. Lol yeah I think we all are.
  22. I know there still is 8 days left but I want a trade to happen with Rios Crain or Peavy. Anticipation is killing me
  23. QUOTE (flavum @ Jul 22, 2013 -> 11:05 PM) I agree 100%...especially about Peavy and Rios. Cut bait, get something fair, and move on without them. Thank you. I love Peavy, but if he can bring a ton in a package I wouldn't hesitate to make the deal. Rios does need to go though. I just want this to happen already.
  24. Honestly if Hahn doesn't trade Peavy, Rios Crain and Lindstrom I'll be mad because I just want the rebuilding to happen and get young talking into the system.
  25. Still feel Peavy is best suited for Red Sox or DBacks
