Jose Abreu named Co-AL player of the week
sammy esposito replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Apr 28, 2014 -> 06:30 PM) No, but he did hit more than .100 higher, have the same amount of home runs, and have an OPS about .150 higher. I'm with you, Abreu will win many more. One comment I guess I never understood why I would see Pito used in place of His name. I think he should be called Pito. The way he changes the course of a game in our favor, I like "Pito Bandito" -
QUOTE (hammerhead johnson @ Apr 27, 2014 -> 09:48 PM) Ain't been nothing like this since 2003/2004 Frank Thomas. I use to never miss a Richie Allen at bat then came The Big hurt and now we have Abreau, but this guy seems to do the impossible and apparently hasn't reached his peak.

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Apr 27, 2014 -> 10:38 PM) Wouldn't be surprised to lose on rookie and win on player. His average/OBP might be a little low though. I wish he could also get his AVG UP so he can win roy,and the seldom attained triple crown .

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 17, 2014 -> 09:55 AM) Scott Merkin @scottmerkin Nate Jones still not ready for baseball activity so still no timetable for his return any improvement on Nate? -

QUOTE (Bigsoxhurt35 @ Apr 23, 2014 -> 08:03 PM) Good AB flowers. Now Danks needs to come through badly. Here's our chance at this game. Comcast shifted their coverage the hawks -
Cuban OF Daniel Carbonell declares free agency

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 22, 2014 -> 11:21 AM) The Sox seem to be chasing after more IF and C than anything else. I think they are pretty happy with where they are in the OF unless a real game changer pops up. DeAza could be replaced. HE hit those 2 hr in the first game and has went downhill and now has leveled off below the Mendoza line. -
Chris Sale to start Thu May 22 vs Yankees

QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Apr 21, 2014 -> 09:39 PM) I can't f***ing believe Robin let him go 127 in a meaningless game. f***ing firable offfense. If Sale pitched 127 it was because he wanted to win the game. He probably told Robin and Coop that he felt fine. I am guessing that Sale did not want to give the ball to any other reliever because he doesn't trust them like all the rest of us who watch the Sox already know this from watching their games -
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Apr 17, 2014 -> 03:05 PM) Cubs attendance definitely increased as Wrigleyville went from undesirable to popular. By the same token, a bad neighborhood has never stopped the Bulls & Hawks from selling tickets. (Other factors led to the Hawks down period) I believe the baseball strike in 1994 dissuaded many sox fans from going to the park. Reinsdorf lead the owners against the players. Until that time neither the cubs not the sox drew very well. In 91 on a nice day at Wrigley toward the end of the season the cub cubs drew 3800 fans. The sox were drawing about the same per game.

QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Apr 15, 2014 -> 09:47 AM) Peavy made some comments yesterday about how it was unfortunate that the fans didn't come out in 2012. Now The Mully and Hanley Show and Mac and Spiegs have been talking about it all day. Some of these f***ing idiots that call and text in make it embarrassing to be a White Sox fan. Just a bunch of f***ing excuse makers. It's too expensive. It's not fun. The team is bad. It's cold. The neighborhood is bad. It's hard to get to. All of which are bulls***. White Sox fans suck sometimes. It's not too expensive. Numerous people have mentioned how there is nowhere to go after the game. There are tons of places near the ballpark but why is it necessary to go out after? If everything is so expensive, then eat and drink in the parking lot which they allow you to do. It being cold is a valid excuse in April but I wish these callers and texters today would just drive off the road. I would've came in 2012 but couldn't bear coming to see Peavey disappoint the fans game after game.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 14, 2014 -> 09:36 PM) Esteban Loiaza had a crappy career for 2-3 years before we gave him a spring training invite and he got us the best pitcher in baseball for 4-5 months and a World Series trophy.Loiza pitched well in 03 but was not on the 05 team.

Trevor Cahill might be a pitcher to trade for
sammy esposito replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Apr 14, 2014 -> 04:15 PM) Something's very wrong with him. His velocity dropped drastically. He's cooked. We have little chance of getting a major league ready pitcher worth anything from a trade. I think we need to take someone that has pitched well previously. Maybe someone that Coop can fix or try to fix. I don't know if should be in teal. Zambrano. -
QUOTE (The Mighty Mite @ Apr 13, 2014 -> 07:19 PM) Right now I have to go with Nate Jones when he comes back from his injury. I'm with you and when he does come back we can give Downs a nice appreciation salute on his DFA.

QUOTE (scs787 @ Apr 11, 2014 -> 09:09 PM) Someone needs to make a bad luck De Aza meme. Is the check swing reviewable ? Or is the 3rd base ump as far as it goes?

Avisail Garcia is out for the rest of 2014
sammy esposito replied to Buehrle>Wood's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ Apr 11, 2014 -> 03:30 AM) He's not a star. Not a star, he could still be one but he is still young. I think his replacement, Danks, is a major league ready fielder, who had a great spring will be an able replacement capable of putting up a .250 avg or better while showing some above average power this spring. Get well Avi but Jordan will do ok. -

sammy esposito replied to Buehrle>Wood's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I am sorry about Garcia but we are bringing up Jordan Danks who played well during st seemed to have improved his hitting. His fielding has always been his strongest attribute. I felt that he should have made the 25 man roster from spring training Hope Avisail comes back with a well healed shoulder and hopefully about 25 pounds lighter so he can get to the ball without a head first dive....... -
Pitchers Hitting - the Annual Thread

QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Apr 7, 2014 -> 01:45 PM) I think the NL will pick up the DH within the next 20 years. If someone mentioned Cotts I have to mention Cliff Politte , one at bat when he faked a bunt and then swung away that resulted in a base hit. -
QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Apr 4, 2014 -> 11:45 AM) Guerra is not on the 40-man roster. Also, if/when Guerra is called up, he does not have options and can't be sent back down without clearing waivers. He through 2 nice pitches and then couldn't control anything. It wasn't like him. Glad there was a reason.

QUOTE (Jake @ Apr 3, 2014 -> 10:12 PM) Don't know if it has been said, but the sample size that led to the conclusion that his defense was poor was woefully small. You need at least a full season of reps to even begin to get a valid sample size and you won't know the true value of the defender until you have multiple full seasons of data. If Avisail had options he should have been the one sent to triple A , We have a ready to play outfielder names Danks who can play outstanding defense and led our sox during spring training. Send Garcia down so he can learn the art of fielding and hitting and bring up Jordan Danks. It doesn't matter what you have invested in Garcia the best man is in Charlotte. dy

QUOTE (Lemon_44 @ Apr 2, 2014 -> 07:51 PM) I think it's more having Dunn hitting behind him. It's not too often managers iwalk the righty-righty matchup to get to a righty-lefty matchup. At this point in his career, Dunn should probably be sitting in the 7 or 8 hole. I too think Dunn should just be sitting. Preferably not being bothered to come out of the dugout 5x a game

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Apr 2, 2014 -> 05:45 PM) Jeez, didn't know it was THAT sensitive of a subject for White Sox fans. This was just the worst I've ever seen it. It is when the first thing our crosstown rival fans say to put us down is " what about our attendance?" I counter with 100 years no world series championship. That must make Wrigley Field special.

Would you trade Alexei to the Tigers?
sammy esposito replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Mar 25, 2014 -> 09:39 AM) Which inherently makes it harder to trade him. I would send him down to charlotte. Maybe he could gain some confidence and learn to hit again. -

QUOTE (oldsox @ Mar 25, 2014 -> 07:39 AM) A lot lesser. Furcal was tremendous when he came up with Braves. Beckham was tremendous when he came up with the sox. I watched him at his first spring training debut. I would trade him now; his tremendousness is gone. -
How much $$ will we get for Dunn when we inevitably trade hi

QUOTE (Rooftop Shots @ Mar 23, 2014 -> 08:56 PM) So tired of watching the patheticism of that oversized blob, that I would be happy to exchange him for a bowl of cornflakes. Soooooooooooo cannot see the logic in keeping a human funeral parlor with arms and legs clogging up a key position in a batting lineup only to watch him fail sooo miserably day in and day out. Hey Reinsdorf! Put the pride aside. Eat the contract and put someone in his spot that can at least put the bat on the ball. Lets face it. The guy sucks. Granted......I still don't think we have enough pitching that will take us over the top., But one thing for sure........is keeping Dunn at all (or even in the middle of the lineup) is the one DOOM that we have in the offense. Big Papi got a one year for 15 mil. Papi has been solid as a dh for many years . DUNN has contributed nothing . It surprises me that he still accepts money for what he doesn't do. Wish we had what THE BIG HURT had in his contract "the diminishing skills clause". I know they ruled that not legal. But that clause would sure be appropriate for Dunn. -
QUOTE (Brentmd2 @ Mar 23, 2014 -> 01:09 PM) I agree w this statement. Subtract De Aza and let Danks start 3 games a week in all 3 OF positions. Just need to get a decent C for De Aza. Seems like a decent catcher and leadoff hitter are 2 highly prized commodities in MLB. Now that we have Eaton DeAza and DeAza's below average play at the #1 spot and lack of defensive prowess has made him expendable. A leadoff hitter is not all that common. He may very well do well with a different role on a different team he could be a lh off the benchf for a national league team. Maybe they have a catcher we could use.
