QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ Jul 9, 2014 -> 04:35 PM) That would be sweet. They can use him for the rest of this year and next year as well. There's no one on the horizon better than him. If they do acquirel a good starting catcher for next year somehow, AJ would be a good backup while Nieto gets evreryday ABs in the minors. If not, he can mentor Nieto next year. We are not going to make the playoffs no matter who we put behind the plate this year.. Eventually we will have to part ways with Flowers.AJ. has hit better but currently is in a slump. I hope if we do claim him we keep AJ on in some other capacity when his playing are over. He has some good baseball sense. He is the reason we won in "05.

When Does Flowers Get Replaced As Everyday Catcher?
sammy esposito replied to Feeky Magee's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 9, 2014 -> 10:52 AM) George Kottaras is available. At least he can take a walk. I just thought it was unusual that Tyler had hit so well at the beginning of the season to fall so low. Lately he appears to be swinging the bat anywhere that the ball isn't. -
QUOTE (LDF @ Jul 7, 2014 -> 11:02 PM) the big question here is IF rodon signs with the soxs. That is what I'm waiting for. Kind of hard to count on something that might not happen.

QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jun 25, 2014 -> 05:40 PM) What does that have to do with anything? He can't control whether or not someone drives him in. Rizzos higher obp ended up with him actually crossing the plate 12 more times than Abreu but being on base helps even on if you play for the cubs .

QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jun 26, 2014 -> 11:40 AM) Chris Beck promoted to Charlotte and will start tonight.Last year some one made up a list of draft signings I plus others would love to see who of our 2014 draftees is signed and unsigned and for what $. -
QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Jun 25, 2014 -> 05:10 PM) Sure, if you completely ignore OBP: .321 vs. .404 No that is a very telling stat. After Rizzo gets on who drives him in ?

Indians @ White Sox Game Thread 5/28

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 28, 2014 -> 07:06 PM) Small steps. Just 1 or 2 runs would be an improvement. Maybe they should have him throw an extra 30 warm up pitches. He seems to be really good after the first. Noesi is starting to look more like Sweaty Freddie. -
QUOTE (The Ultimate Champion @ May 22, 2014 -> 05:07 PM) Where's Buckets of Semien to weigh in on this one? can't top last comment but could Semien learn to play the outfield well enough to replace ADA and while he would be there learn how to be more selective on pitches that he chooses to swing at.
-
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 21, 2014 -> 09:51 AM) Considering the crap you give someone when they said AJ would make have made a big difference last year by pointing out his WAR, it is interesting you write there's no way the Sox are anywhere near where they are right now without Dunn in the lineup when he is sporting a 0.3 WAR.In the case of another power hitting lefty by the name of Thome we bought his contract out but Thome signed for a 0ne or two million somewhere else. this kept us from paying the 14 he would have gotten according to his option. Thome could have resigned with us for that amount but choose to go elsewhere.

Abreu as been diagnosed with posterior tibial tendonitis here is a video on what they may do.

If the sox continue to lose key players and lose enough games this year they may be getting an even better pick next year.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 18, 2014 -> 01:10 PM) Even if they didn't DL him after Wednesday's game, sit him out on Friday, rest him for a day or maybe even two and see if it helps. A couple days off helped during spring training. If it continues to be an issue then you can DL him retroactive to the last game he played and already have started him on a healing process, costing the team fewer games without him. Every time we hear of a player going for tests it usually the player's condition ends up worse that they thought initially. If this were in October he would have plenty of time to heal. I have the feeling that 15 days is not enough . also thinking that if he comes back too quickly his problem will reoccur.

QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ May 12, 2014 -> 12:35 PM) Alex Rios and improved plate discipline: http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/batters...et-older-051214 Excellent example of why plate discipline helps hitting, not just walking. Does plate discipline have anything to do with swing at a curve ball a foot outside and in the dirt for strike 3. If it was once in a while but there is more than one that can't lay off those pitches .Can anyone tell them how to recognize those pitches.

It is too calm there. I've been going to sox games e since 1960. With the lineup producing so many runs and with the late inning comebacks what more could a person ask for in a great baseball experience. If you prefer urinating in a trough we have found some of those fans have handled the changeover.

Is This an Unprecedented Offensive Turnaround?
sammy esposito replied to Marty34's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (GreatScott82 @ May 10, 2014 -> 02:02 PM) We have to give credit to Coach Steversen. The hitters are being patient this year and the results are evident. I believe the spray chart of our hits this year will show that our hitters are not pulling the ball as much. -
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 10, 2014 -> 04:48 PM) Not necessarily, he could clear waivers and wind up in Charlotte. Charlotte is a new location.
-
QUOTE (elrockinMT @ May 10, 2014 -> 03:01 PM) I think he has some talent also. Just needs to figure out location. The bullpen just seems to be a constant work in progress but getting better If he has gotten dfaed he will get a new location.
-
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ May 8, 2014 -> 10:35 AM) So the bullpen isn't too bad, but the starters still suck. We didn't have 5 good starters to begin the season and with failure by some who were sent down. Our bullpen has been coming into the game in the 3rd inning not the sixth. What is the stat for quality starts by our staff and total amount of inning pitched compared to other teams with more quality starts. We're doing damn good with the relievers pitching so much of the game.
-
QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ May 7, 2014 -> 11:30 AM) That's a fine idea, but there is a roster crunch when Gillaspie, Keppinger and Eaton are all back. Maybe if the Sox didn't have a backup DH on the roster . . . Konerko should just give his roster spot up. Now that he's got his Cubs scoreboard tile. What else is there to play for.
-
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ May 6, 2014 -> 09:13 PM) Konerko and Samardzija being friendly? Don't let greg see that pic. NEVER FORGET! !!Maybe they .know something we don't

QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ May 6, 2014 -> 08:22 PM) I like Noesi. I hope Robin/Coop protect him tonight when he starts tiring. If he is like Garcia, Noesi will begin really pitching when the sweat starts rolling
-
QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ May 6, 2014 -> 07:53 PM) Another nice inning for Noesi. Is it me or does Noesi look like "sweaty Freddie"?
-
QUOTE (greg775 @ May 5, 2014 -> 02:45 PM) You can't play Adam Dunn in left field, you just can't. He's a big ox, with all due respect. he's a big ox if he dhs or when he does play 1b
-
QUOTE (GreenSox @ May 4, 2014 -> 10:56 AM) L Garcia should start a lot in OF. Danks is a 5th OF, and Garcia is supposed to be a super Sub. Getting him work in that regard. I don't see how Leury should be played over Danks. He can't hit and can't play the outfield as well. Danks.

**4/30 thread: Sox vs Tigers, 1:10pm**
sammy esposito replied to Brian's topic in 2014 Season in Review
QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Apr 30, 2014 -> 12:53 PM) This is already pretty much a throwaway game with Noesi starting. Surprised they didn't go ahead and give Ramirez, Abreu, Flowers and De Aza days off. If Abreu hits 3 hrs and knocks in 6 or more we will have a white sox winner.
