QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Mar 9, 2015 -> 04:48 PM) Yea I think he might be a "SS" in name only at this point. Is he playing SS for the Sox now? His bat does have some pop, seems he'd have been given a chance in MLB if could hold his own at SS but somehow I don't think he really can. Alexei is listed as 6'2.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 3, 2015 -> 09:27 AM) Dude has a great sense of humor. Well done. I hope this expands I could watch baseball year round. -
QUOTE (BigEdWalsh @ Mar 1, 2015 -> 11:56 AM) I'm sure saddened by this news. I wish I could have seem play in his first go-around with the Sox but I remember well when the Sox reacquired Minnie. If there's such as thing as Mr. White Sox, that was Minnie. R. I. P. Orestes " Minnie" Minoso He may have been the only Orestes in Mlb history. I met him one day at restaurant or bar on the day the white sox game was called of to snow or low temperatures, he was signing autographs. I was so awestruck I couldn't think of any thing intelligent to say. I finally just said, Are you really Minnie Minoso" Minnie replied," who else would I be. "

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Feb 24, 2015 -> 11:35 AM) That's good news. 2014 preseason there was talk of Nate being our closer. all those hopes were dashed early I hope he can return to his former pitching form. He would be a great asset later in the season to the '15 sox.

QUOTE (AlSoxfan @ Feb 20, 2015 -> 09:26 PM) If we're contending at the trade deadline I think it would be foolish to trade him for prospects unless they're some pretty top notch prospects. I thought part of the whole idea of trading for him is so we could contend and possibly win it all, while at the same time get a try-out of him. Juy just saying we have good prospects that may be ready to compete as well as Shark . If we can't possibly sign him for next year we trade him if the reward is big enough.

QUOTE (AlSoxfan @ Feb 20, 2015 -> 06:11 PM) I think it'll all come down to how well he pitches this yr. Maybe by yrs. end we won't want him back but I think he'll have a pretty good yr. He seems to be becoming a fan favorite already so that might count for something an if he has fun an does well we might get a discount. I still figure he'll get between 100/120 for 5 yrs. That seems kinda steep for us but who knows. I'll be rooting for him, I think he fits on this team. Even if we are in contention at the trade deadline, Shark could be traded for some quality prospects.

QUOTE (daggins @ Feb 10, 2015 -> 07:31 PM) Schoenfield is an idiot. No one should listen to him whether he says the Sox will win 90 or 75. Frm here to October it depends on both teams play dring the upcoming season . I hate conjecture almost as much as I hate the cubs

QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Feb 9, 2015 -> 08:23 PM) No love for Brad Penny? we should at least see if he has anything left. One blog said he was hitting 92. We shall see. Spring training is near. He won't find any better venue to show off his wares.

Sox sign Gordon Beckham, designate Viciedo for Assignment

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jan 28, 2015 -> 02:40 PM) Ya look at his career numbers. Last year looks like an aberration to me. Eaton had some hamstring issues and consequently on the disable list a few times last year. Ichiro may have been a good fill in for him at leadoff if Adam was on the mend. -

QUOTE (Jose Paniagua @ Jan 28, 2015 -> 02:06 PM) Kirk Hinrich hit that three last night so maybe Gordon can contribute vs. lefties I watched Gordon in his first spring training with the sox. I thought he was the messiah. Beckham proved to be disappointing after his initial debut. I hope he realizes his potential again even if it is in a limited role. -
QUOTE (lvjeremylv @ Jan 17, 2015 -> 11:27 PM) Work never should be the most important thing in your life. For 99.99999999% of the population, working is just a means to an end. Robin didn't stay away for ever. Others who seem happy in retirement return for whatever reasons.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jan 18, 2015 -> 07:08 PM) IMO, if White Sox fans don't want to be the butt of attendance jokes, they should go the the games. I don't understand the outrage here. The draw 1,000,000 more fans a year, and some guy questions him using a team that doesn't draw anything but tumbleweeds as his example. He should be happy with those figures. I just want to roughly quoting what Ichiro summed up Wrigley field with his first impression. ' it is like older Japanese stadiums kind of like rotting garbage"

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jan 15, 2015 -> 10:41 AM) Well, no. 2011 was obviously a disaster, but we really shouldn't or couldn't have expected more than he gave the Sox in 2012, 2013, and 2014. If the Sox gave me $10 million a year to be a power hitter in the middle of the lineup, and I went out and hit .005/.008/.008 (which is 3 for 600 with 2 HBP and a ball I sliced down the right field line which somehow ended up as a triple, much the same as Paul Konerko got an inside the park home run), should I owe anything to the White Sox? They were misguided in their attempt to fill a hole and I produced as expected. Adam Dunn doesn't owe the Sox anything and he accomplished exactly what should have been expected of him (again, outside of 2011). Dunn has retired he had to disappoint a lot of fans but I always thought the player who most exemplified the White Sox was Buehrle. I would like him to come back to the sox after his retirement in some capacity. If he can do it perhaps pitching coach.

QUOTE (flavum @ Jan 15, 2015 -> 06:22 PM) https://twitter.com/scottmerkin/status/555881785691615233 Nate Jones 660K I hope Nate is back to form after surgery. He was a real asset when he is on his game. Could be worth a lot more if he's ready

QUOTE (StRoostifer @ Jan 13, 2015 -> 09:30 AM) Sums it up for me. This is why I preferred the Sox went after Eovaldi, but it is what it is. If Shields ends up getting a 5-6 year deal at 100M+, it scares me to think what Samardzija will get next year at age 30. FA 2015-16 is Jeff's only shot at maximizing a big contract and he's made it pretty clear that he will do so. Nevertheless he is a White Sox pitcher and I will be cheering for him, just not going to count on him being around beyond 2015. I'm guessing that they'll be working on an extension evaluating, until trade deadline. If the sox are not in contention at trade deadline the sox will move him then. We will get some prospects back from the team that picks him up.

QUOTE (Vance Law @ Jan 8, 2015 -> 03:36 PM) Yeah, Why would you keep Danks and DFA Wilkins? Because Danks is an excellent defensive outfielder and the Sox starting outfield at present are bad, injury prone, and bad at defense. And there's zero room for Wilkins on a team with Abreu and LaRoche. I frankly I don't have to make these decisions. I remember when we drafted Jordan thought was he could play defense at the major league level. His bat never attained that level of competence.

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Dec 31, 2014 -> 09:11 AM) I will quit comparing Ben Zobrist to Cy Young pitchers when you quit calling him a super utility player. I don't know about CY Young pitchers either. I bought a car in Eureka il I and while there talked to some locals about him The locals there love him. One said he tries to make it to Chicago when he plays here, Switch hitting outfielder/infielder might make sense. However; I couldn't begin to estimate what we should give in a trade.

QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Dec 17, 2014 -> 12:21 PM) There is this one guy named Rodon. I heard he is OK. Rodon was not tried with the September call ups. He may be ok but he is untried at the major league level. Rodon may need some more development. Penny has been in the show.

QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Dec 17, 2014 -> 12:36 AM) Yeah, the Cubs actually would be a great fit because of ale l those prospects, they don't seem to have a longterm 3B, and they easily have the pieces to make a trade. Longoria had a bad year 2014. He's owed way too much for the rest of his contract. Pass

QUOTE (GreenSox @ Dec 16, 2014 -> 09:34 PM) Not happening. Look, the Sox are going to have to use their young players in spots. All good teams do. It's up to the Sox to develop some. That's how we got Eaton - developed a young pitcher and traded him. It will start with 2B. You just can't force everything. The other issue is what if this team doesn't click. What if unforseen weaknesses develop. Have to leave yourself some room. I was just thinking Avisail hasn't really proven himself to me. Could he be trade bait. there is plenty of left fielders available. No one seems to want Tank.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 16, 2014 -> 02:18 PM) Kudos for waiting to post until someone mentioned Anderson. Welcome to Soxtalk. BA will do better with Robin he has a penchant for getting Ozzie's kids in trouble. This stifled BA's and Ozzie's boy's career. Neither did well in baseball after that. (teal)

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Dec 16, 2014 -> 12:12 PM) He can compete for a spot. If/when he gets shelled in ST then no harm done. I wish soxtalk had a like button. Rowand44 said it all.
