Of all the guys people were pining for in LF, he's been the best. Its always been health with Adam tho. If he can stay healthy, he's a well above average OF.

Which pending FA should Sox target at deadline?
ChiSox59 replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
If the Sox are going to add mid-season, a top of the line SP and upgrade on Leury as the backup IF would be my main asks. I would lump both into the luxury category as opposed to needs, though. I am not trading major pieces for 2 month upgrades. -
Yeah, another 4 for 4 will help that. Yermin can hit, that is for sure. Just not quite ready to anoint him as a franchise cornerstone at DH for the next half decade, or even the rest of 2021 for that matter. But he's certainly been fun to watch and I am rooting like heck for him. In no way, shape or form am I saying I think the dude can't hit or am I rooting for him to fail. I just don't know that anything even remotely close to this 75 PA sample size is sustainable moving forward. If it is, we got ourselves a hell of find.

The Royals are solid. I could see them finishing with 77-82 wins. Which is pretty good and enough to say we should definitely be thinking about them. But they're well shy of a playoff team, IMO.

Unfortunately, Lamb can't be sent down. He'd need to be DFA'd and he'd very likely be gone. And with the extreme lack of upper minors organizational depth at 3B, I think that's why the Sox signed him and have held onto him to this point. If Yoan goes down for any stretch of time, Leury/Mendick are the options and frankly neither are MLB 3B. Mendick hardly has the arm for short.
-
Could be, but I doubt we'll see that regularly. Seems to me Lamb is/should be behind Vaughn, Engel, Hamilton and Leury for LF opps. If Vaughn goes down when Engel returns, Lamb is still 4th in line imo. Could they plug him in there every now and then against a tough righty? Probably - but I doubt we'll see it often. I'd rather see Hamilton get those reps honestly - he at least provides good defense and baserunning.
-
Forgot about Lamb for a second. Honestly, he should be the guy getting cut. Based on the way he's been used 21 games in, he serves literally zero purpose other than Moncada injury replacement. Which honestly is going to be needed at some point, but not sure its worth holding a roster spot for. I honestly expect Engel to get most starts in LF when he comes back with some Hamilton sprinkled in. And Vaughn going down for the time being, though I fully expect him back in June sometime.

I think it’s gonna be Vaughn. Which ultimately I’m fine with. Let him go get at bats in Charlotte for a couple weeks. He’ll be back. Don’t think you can cut Leury without another backup IF on the roster.
-
I literally saw this happen. Was in LF corner so couldn’t hear anything but I saw it. He didn’t “throw” the ball at anyone. The ball was tossed. Some words were exchanged thereafter. Bullpen coaches told him to take a seat and that was that. Kopech clearly shouldn’t be as bothered by heckling as he appeared to be but this is a non issue.
-
It simpler terms, if Vaughn spends 15-20 days at any point in the season in AAA or the alt site, he will not accrue enough service time to be a FA after 6 seasons. Come up empty? The Sox own his rights thru 2026. Absolutely zero reason to extend him.

Quick question: as long as you have lower bowl seats, are you able to sit wherever? Or are they policing more closely with limited seating/covid?

Heading to Milwaukee today for a wedding tomorrow....awfully tempted to take a "little" detour and catch the ballgame.
-
I think his defense has looked better the last couple weeks. But yeah, I agree - the defense has been really bad so far. But that certainly isn't his pedigree it just seemed to like he was pressing out there. The throw the other day is caught by 999/1000 1st basemen. I don't really blame that error on Madrigal. Was not a good throw, but you and I catch that ball 99/100 times. That was on Yermin.
-
lol. I get why some people don't love Madrigal's game. Honestly. But let's give the kid a chance. He has the makings of a perfect complimentary piece on this roster. IT hasn't been all that pretty to this point, but his bat to ball skills are truly elite. And to say Mendick is a better option is pretty comical stuff. I guess you don't even really need to give him a chance - he's not going anywhere. And hearing this argument over and over and over again is going to get quite old.

I think you and everyone else knows who I am talking about.

Can the mods ban this ass hat?

Don't watch them then. Baseball games are long. So what. Its what makes the grind of a 162 game season so beautiful. I absolutely love parking my ass on the couch and watching a 4 hour baseball game. Are there areas where we could see things speed up a bit? Sure. I am all for 30 second shot clocks on pitchers. Replay reviews take WAY WAY WAY WAY too much time and this should be the easiest thing to speed up yet the genius' at mlb can't figure that out. Filling the beautiful game of baseball with gimicks to speed it up isn't the answer.
-
Its terrible. National media should STFU. Shortening a game by making it some gimicky little league length game is not the way. Manfred seems more concerned about the folks that don't give a rats ass about the game as opposed to its true fans. No one who doesn't love baseball is watching a full length double header anyway. I don't think the 7 inning DHs are really there to speed things up. I think it was put into play last year because they figured there would be a ton of double headers due to covid PPDs, and they wanted to make it easier to get the games in. Maybe that is still the case this year, but I just think it was Manfred sticking it to the players union for not agreeing to expanded playoffs. Wielding the power he does have. With a 6 month season and 162 games, there was absolutely no good reason for 7 inning double headers in 2021.

I absolutely hate it.

He’s also looked quite capable in LF. I have no real qualms stating that I’d prefer Vaughn to Eloy in LF for a litany of reasons. Not the least of which is keeping Eloy in the lineup.
-
Lol the pen has been bad, but these dudes shouldn’t have ever been pitching in this game. Now Hendriks!? My oh my.

Happy learned how to putt.

Just coming here to say it’s been another head scratching night of TLR and his own usage.
