  1. Vaughn definitely looks the part in LF and I can confidently say he is a better LF than Eloy at this point. Eloy days of playing the OF should be mostly over. I am fine working him in at 1B/DH/occasional LF start next year, and hopefully he can stick at 1B. But I see no good reason to stick Eloy back in LF and move Vaughn in to 1B. Only other scenario is honestly Vaughn has looked decent enough in LF that maybe he could handle RF on occasion in 22 when we want to run a murderer's row lineup out there, but seems like a lot to ask of the kid.
  2. Yes I am serious. Gallo makes $6M and will make something like $8-9M next year. He’s well within the White Sox budget no matter what ridiculous narrative about ownership you care to spin. Jerry is a cheap stake when it comes to the Sox but if the Rangers would take a deal the Sox felt comfortable with, Gallos economics are not getting in the way.
  3. lol Gallos contract isn’t the issue. Dude hardly makes anything.
  4. Damn really thought we were getting baseball tonight.
  5. Theoretically it is a good problem to have. If that were to play out and the NL adds the DH this offseason as widely expected, Yermin is probably traded. Yermin isn't displacing Eloy or Vaughn. I sure hope Mercedes keeps it up, but we're a ways away from that being a reality.
  6. No, I know. Just brainstorming really. The knee jerk reaction is to go out and get some bat to replace Luis/Eloy, but really all that would be doing is displacing Vaughn, Eaton or Mercedes. NEver a bad thing to have too many good hitters I guess, but the Sox need a CF. Not a LF, or DH, or RF. (I know you know this).
  7. The Sox know exactly what Yermin provides behind the plate. And ~20% of the way through the season he has 0 appearances at catcher. Yermin is a DH-only player, and an emergency catcher/1B. He will never be playing defense with any regularity in the big leagues.
  8. Where is this big impact bat going to play moving forward tho? There isn't a ton of room at the inn for a big impact bat - its not like Eloy and Robert are dead. The answer is obviously RF, but just there aren't that many guys that can play CF that are also big time bats we can just shift over to RF in 2022. This is going to just be a patchwork situation in CF. Its truly unfortunate and frankly unlucky situation the Sox have found themselves, but there isn't some perfect fit out there. Gallo isn't perfect player by any means, but he is probably the best fit. But no chance I am giving up any of the guys you mentioned for him.
  9. There is a reason Mercedes hasn't caught a game yet this season. He isn't a major league catcher.
  10. Moving forward, I would do Madrigal, Moncada, TA, Abreu, Mercedes, Grandal, Vaughn, Eaton, Garcia/Hamilton, personally. But the lineup tonight is pretty solid.
  11. They didn't sign Goodwin to be a long term solution. They signed him to try to give them another option in CF until Engel returns or a better option presents itself.
  12. I think we could see Cespedes at some point later this summer, but Sheets and Adolof can't play CF and that is what he need. Gonzalez can play CF, which he why he keeps getting the call, but he also isn't good and likely not a major leaguer.
  13. Yeah, I mean, I think Gallo is a pretty good fit because he can actually play CF for a few weeks until Engel returns and then play RF as well be the RF is 2022. But yeah, for what Texas is going to want in return, I am also a pass on Gallo and would prefer to stick with what we got.
  14. Lol - its been 24 hours. What were you expecting? Oh right, trading Crochet for Bryant!
  15. Agreed, but they are similar offensive players when right. That is the point. Grandal, despite hitting .127, has an .333 OBP because he has an elite eye. Defensively, yah. Grandal has been disappointing. No doubt about it.
  16. At least you're consistent! I will give you that.
  17. He's an upgrade on Luis Gonzalez. Its not like they're handing the dude millions. He'll be kicked to the side as soon as they can find a better option.
  18. You need some weed or something man.
  19. Saw this coming from a mile away. I guess its an upgrade on Gonzalez. Keep bringing guys like this in - stick them in AAA and hopefully 1 hits enough to get a shot, and can bridge us to Engel. I doubt Goodwin is that guy, but he's an option.
  20. Select fans certainly don't like Grandal's .350 career OBP. Why would they like Gallo's career .332 OBP?
  21. He's the RF version of Yasmani Grandal with slightly more power, but a lower career batting average and almost double the Ks. That should go over well with this fanbase!
  22. Most of this board will hate Gallo and his 40% K rate 2 weeks in.
  23. I thought it was a terrible trade yesterday when we discussed, and I still think its a terrible trade today. You don't give up TOR SP prospects for 75% of a season of a player making market value. That is what terrible trades are made of. Of course you can make room for a guy like Bryant in this lineup. The solution is sitting Vaughn, Mercedes or Eaton. He is a good bat that would make the team better, but he doesn't solve the current problem.
  24. Exactly man. If people can't appreciate Grandal's game (and it seems about 80% of Soxtalk is ready to never see him take another AB in a Sox uni), imagine trading away Crochet ++ for Gallo.
