  1. I mean....one of Leury/Hamilton has to play CF....
  2. Not sure if serious or not, but honestly it might if he keeps hitting the ball right at the 2B playing short RF. Honestly, he looks helpless at the plate right now. Pretty disappointing, though I suspect he'll figure it out eventually and end up around where he always does.
  3. I rarely participate in game threads as they're just full of BS and negativity, so I missed this.
  4. I think talking about taking Giolito out prior to the 7th is silly. He is our ace and he had 95 pitches and we're facing the worst offensive in the AL. Had TLR taken him out and brought in Foster or whoever, you'd be ripping him that they took Gio out too early. Now, I definitely think it would have made some sense to pull him after the lead-off walk and long Baddoo at bat. Certainly after the Ramos double. He was definitely left in too long, but taking him out before the 7th even started is wayyyy too quick of a hook.
  5. lol mccann has such a cult following here its hilarious. Yasmani has been really bad in 21 and definitely 100% deserves some criticism for sure. I've been big supporter of his against the meatball takes, but he's been just flat bad in 21. He was fine last year. I do honestly think part of the problem is Sox fans expected a different hitter than Grandal really is. What he did last year is exactly what he's done his whole career, which has made him widely considered one of the best 2-3 catchers in the game, pretty much unanimously. McCann is a really solid defensive catcher that has has produced about 2-3 months of good offensive in his 7+ year career. Career wRC+ of 85. Rag on Yasmani all you want (and like I said, he deserves some flack so far in 21), but he has a career wRC+ of 117. Offensively, they aren't really comparable at all. Defensively, I would agree that Yaz has been pretty disappointing so far in a Sox uni - I certainly expected more. At the end of the day, McCann is in New York and is looking like the offensive producer he's been for 95% of his career. I like the guy - but he isn't some savior.
  6. Hoping we see Robert back today and a series of negative tests.
  7. Grandal has been pretty pitiful this season, but not sure how anyone can say that 7th inning is on Grandal. I am all for trying Collins with Gio the next turn or two, and honestly, at this point Collins probably deserves a few more starts. Grandal outside of some walks is bringing nothing to the table at the moment.
  8. Really? A 1 year gimmick? I’d be surprised if he ISNT managing the Sox next year.
  9. He didn’t ground into half a dozen double plays!
  10. I won’t be too torn up if AV spends a month or so in AAA. I agree he should be playing most everyday if he’s on the mlb roster, and I by no way think he’s received enough PT/ABs. But once Engel is back we can make it work for a few weeks and hopefully let AV get hot in Charlotte. There are other potential benefits, too.
  11. You got it. In that case, I definitely recommend the Dugout Box seats just behind the vistors bench. Definitely will have a great experience there. Have fun!
  12. Set back per article posted earlier today in this thread. Mid may now the return date.
  13. Detroit sucks balls. Still should be an easy series win even without Robert.
  14. No Andrew eh? Feel like he's been playing better lately and the conversion to LF has been going swimmingly IMO.
  15. Maybe Eaton is serving his suspension today?
  16. Luis Gonzalez returns. Not sure why, but he is the corresponding move.
  17. Minneapolis is tough right now. Tbh, you definitely won't get the same experience as you would have pre-covid/George Floyd outside of the ballpark itself. Just a lot less activity downtown than usual. For instance, I've worked downtown for about a decade now and I haven't stepped foot in my office since mid-March 2020. I've really only been downtown a handful of times in the past 15 months. This is pretty much the case for most of downtown employees. Tons of restaurants are still not re-opened and a lot of downtown is boarded up. Its sad. But there is plenty to do, and dtown Minneapolis is very walkable. Would definitely recommend heading across the river to NE Minneapolis (like 15-20 min walk from Target Field), where things are little more open, and you'll find more restaurants, breweries, patio seating etc open. Just east of the ballpark is an called the North Loop and that area is pretty happening still and will find lots of good restaurants and younger people milling about going to bars. A few restaurant suggestions in the area - Parlor Bar (best burger in MPLS), Bar LaGrassa, Smack Shack, Young Joni (best pizza in MPLS). I promise you none of those will disappoint. As for the park - I would definitely recommend sitting in different places for each game. The last 15-20 rows behind the dugouts are their own section with comfy/padded seats and private dining options below the stands. Definitely would recommend splurging 1 game and sitting down there. My company has seats 3rd row behind the visitor dugout and that is super duper fun place to sit when the Sox are in town. This is different than the scout seats behind the plate and a very clear step down. Think more like $60-85 tickets as opposed to several hundred. There is an overhang in rightcenter field where there is like 4-6 rows of seats up above the limestone wall - also a very fun place to watch a game and can get seats pretty affordably. Would recommend trying that one game as well. LF bleachers (with back rests) is also a fun place to sit. Champions Club (similar to whatever used to be called the LG Skyline club at the Cell - not sure what its called these days), is also a good spot. I would avoid the upper deck in all honesty. Foodwise - its mainly your typical ballpark fare, but I would recommend the smaller/movable stands as opposed to the built in more generic stands. Several good options to try out. Minneapolis is a big craft beer city, so lots of beer stands offering the local brews. If you drink beer, give a few a try! All in all, Minneapolis is a great place to visit and I think you'll really enjoy it. Not exactly the best time in its history, but still plenty to do and the ballpark is beautiful. Go Sox! Feel free to DM me with any questions as it gets closer. Happy to help!
  18. I have not been yet this year. Usually just go when the Sox are in town. Have hear its portioned off like the cell tho. Target Field is a great venue tho. If you haven't been, you'll def enjoy!
  19. Hmmm. I specifically asked an usher near the partition if I could pass through and I was told no. But I didn’t push any beyond that. I live in Minneapolis so I don’t get to go to Sox Park more than once or twice a year so I was bummed to miss out on my favorite ballpark fare!
  20. Nah, just when up and walking around tho I saw plenty not wearing them there too.
  21. I went last Friday! The park is roped off into pods. So you have to enter in a certain entrance by where your seats are. Took a couple stops to figure that out before we'd be let in. Also, if you're going with a wife/gf, make sure they don't bring a bag. Saw plenty inside, but they wouldn't like my wife in with a small purse and she had to walk in back to the car. Other than that - pretty much the same, but it sure sucked not being able to get my favorite Sox Park food in the elote since it wasn't in my pod!
  22. Hendriks will be fine. Colome would have been a fine addition to really any pen for the deal he got, but he's not a closer on a good team, and that is showing its face. He was quite lucky with the Sox. It sure is enjoyable to watch Colome absolutely implode for the Twins tho.
