Pham up, Pillar out
Let pieces of the future play, along with some vets, rather than a team full of 30+ scrubs that have no future with the org. Its stupid. And that is coming from one of the more positive posters around here.

Pham up, Pillar out
I would bet that he does not clear waivers.

Pham up, Pillar out
It just doesn't make any sense. I cannot wait for this press conference, even though I know none of the hard questions will be asked.

Pham up, Pillar out
I expected Fletcher to get bounced, but really hoped I'd be wrong. The Ortega moves makes no sense. And I know Horn has been terrible, but how'd he go before Justin Anderson? I truly have no fucking clue what Getz vision is here.

The moment this all started
Moncada would have stayed at 2B, or Machado plays SS, TA moves to 2B and Moncada 3B. Its a good problem to have. That was not the reason Machado didn't sign with the Sox. Moncada-Machado-Anderson would have been the best set up in the short term.

Yeah, I mean that’s why he played that next season with a fresh black and grey glove and posted a picture of his kid all decked out in Sox gear a few days before he signed with the Padres. Machado to Sox was nearly done. He wanted more money tho, and Padres came in last minute and met the ask and Sox thought it was a bluff. Of course Machado will say those things after the fact. FWIW - I am not defending the Sox here. They totally fucked the Machado situation, and then spent that $50M on ridiculous things the next 2 seasons. To me, missing on Machado and Harper was where things began to go wrong. But really, the main reason things have gone wrong is lack of health and development from the once elite prospects.

While that trade was terrible, Tatis wasn't even the main part of the deal. The Padres mostly just got really lucky (and the Sox unlucky). But the bolded part is just flat wrong. Machado signed with the Padres over the Sox because they paid him $50 more. Its really that simple. It had nothing to do with Tatis.

GMs speak with the media at the beginning of most homestands. Since our beat writers are a bunch on wimps, it'll be a series of softball questions.

It’s been this way for 10-11 months now.

He was the Twins premier signing this offseason!!

Tommy Pham close to deal with White Sox
He didn’t make it to waivers, but yes. They definitely should have tried if they didn’t.

The only truly awful contract is Benintendi, and unfortunately that is going to around for another 3.8 seasons. I guess you could lump Moncada in there, but none of the other contract are really all that bad.

Regarding the bolded. I HIGHLY doubt that is the case. Its obvious he's no favorite, but he'll absolutely get another chance.

Right, and while I thought we'd more more low to mid 90s, 100 losses can't really be considered "historically poor" since we literally lost 100 games last season.

TBF, not many people expected this level of suck. They also wouldn't be quite so terrible had Robert, Moncada and Eloy not gotten hurt the first week. Its fair to expect those guys to miss time throughout the season, but all right away? Even the naysayiest of naysayers wouldn't have honestly guessed that while being serious. I expected this team to float a few to several games below ,500 for awhile, at least pre-Cease trade. I expected improved defense and cleaner baseball. I hoped Robert's 2023 health would continue into 24, and we'd see a really nice contract year from Yoan. Obviously non of that has happened, but I don't think many people pre-season truly expected this to be an historically poor club.

Tommy Pham close to deal with White Sox
Wouldn't Pham be taking Leone's 40 man spot in that scenario? I believe Clevinger in starting in AAA this weekend (maybe even today).

Tommy Pham close to deal with White Sox
I doubt Sox will go a pitcher short and a 5-man bench. Still could play 60-day IL games with Davis Martin, if they wanted to burn the service time.

4/24 - Good Guys @ Twins 6:40 CT - Crochet Vs. Ryan
I am having a real hard time finding 47 wins on the schedule. Especially after anyone of value sans Robert (and maybe Crochet) is moved in June/July.

Tommy Pham close to deal with White Sox
I think he'll be up tomorrow. They've already said he's playing in AAA today. I am sure he'll handshake away the optout for a day. Mentioned this in the fresh blood thread, but with Fletcher sitting 2 straight days against RHP and Pham playing CF in AAA, I actually would put my money on the Sox sending Fletcher down and keeping all the vets. Would have to find the 40 man space for Pham somewhere other than Pillar or Grossman tho, which could get interesting. Watch the Sox DFA Sosa to keep all these washed vets.

fresh blood
With Fletcher sitting two straight days, Pham playing CF in AAA today and seemingly set to come up tomorrow, it looks like this could in fact play out.

The twins have been simply terrible this year. Sox were just what the doctor ordered.
