  1. Ya, I mean I guess now is as good as anytime to slide him through waivers, but almost feel like right after the rule 5 would be better. Just curious as you mentioned. Do you know for sure that Burr has actually formally been DFA'd and we should soon be getting the news on whether or not he cleared within a day, or if its possible this is more of a "White Sox plan to DFA Ryan Burr when the roster spot is needed" situation? To be clear, I am not insinuating at all that I think FS got bad info - I fully expect him to get DFA as this point - I just feel like we'd at least have a mention or two from national media guys / posted to MLBTR, etc if the transaction had formally occurred.
  2. Curious - why would the Sox DFA a guy like Burr when they didn't need to? Can do that at any point in the offseason. Furthermore, why are they waiting several days to announce it? This isn't typical IMO.
  3. I feel like I read somewhere recently that when a player in placed on outright waivers in the offseason, the opposite league gets first dibs. Is that accurate? Seems like a strange rule to flipflop in the offseason, and cannot see to locate anything confirming or denying that. I may have read it here. If he has to clear the AL first, I'd be a tad surprised if he made it to the Reds.
  4. I hear ya. I don't expect you to change - you do you. As I said in my post, I am genuinely curious if you believed that most posters find the bit funny. That is it.
  5. I am with ya 100%. Not campaigning to pass on Wheeler by any means. Just pointing out that handing him 5/$110M+ is quite a commitment that definitely could backfire.
  6. Yah, I mean $10M is a bit rich for a team like the O's that will likely be tanking again. But yah, Villar is a good player.
  7. Projected $10.4M price tag for 2020. Wouldn't be shocked to see a team in need of a MI rolling the dice.
  8. I don't like the years for the Sox in particular. Sox don't need Gibson for 3 years. But I guess I wouldn't have hated it. Hard to get too upset about getting a solid backend vet who has been very good at times for $10M AAV.
  9. It does, however, remain a very steep price to pay for a good not great SP. Wheeler is a legit risk. A risk the Sox pretty much have to take if they're serious, but you're getting awfully close to that range where you may as well just pay up a bit more for Strasburg.
  10. Ehhh...I would think with the Burr move a national writer would have announced it but not if it had actually happened already. To my knowledge, that has not occurred yet.
  11. I mean - why DFA a guy without a corresponding move, and then also not announce it? Screams to me like they've just informed Burr they're going to DFA him, that info got out, and the actual transaction in which the Burr DFA is the corresponding move has not actually occurred yet. Don't really see any other scenario that makes sense.
  12. Gibson is underrated. This is a solid deal for Texas.
  13. 4/$34M. Nice deal for Pomeranz after taking a cheap 1 year deal last offseason, being terrible as a SP, and then a brief run of dominance as a reliever. He did well.
  14. Honestly curious - do you think people think this type of stuff (posting in every thread at once) and the poop bit are funny?
  15. Still find it bizarre that this hasn't been announced by the org. Why the delay?
  16. Agreed. I just don't think Strasburg is going to settle for a 5/$150M deal right now. Maybe in late February if need be, but not right now.
  17. Fairly lukewarm on this if Sox are ainvolved. If the price is really just Sheets, it'd be whatever to me. There are definitely worse options than Bundy, but just don't see the point in using trade capital when there are similar arms of the FA market for only slightly more AAV.
  18. I mean, this shows Yolmer that no other team was willing to pay the price either. Could help in negotiations if there is mutual interest in bringing him back. But I kind of doubt there is.
  19. Yah I just tried and no dice, still not working.
  20. Still not working on my iPhone despite restarting a couple times.
  21. It does take 48 hours. In my opinion, I don't think there is much to announce with regard to Yolmer until another team claims him or he clears and thereby removed from the 40 man. The fact that he was placed on waivers in and of itself doesn't necessarily call for a press release. The Burr news though one would think would be corresponding move to adding someone to the 40 man. Unless the Sox really think DFAing him now gives him a higher liklihood of clearing waivers - but not sure how doing that now versus when the next MLB signing is announced changes much.
