  1. Oh I totally agree. Not saying I want it. Just no reason to DFA another player/prospect until a roster move is made, so if there really is another "pending" roster move, one would think it would be someone who they plan to non-tender next Tuesday anyhow. Off the top of my head, I believe only names that fit that criteria are Leury, Marshall, McCann (not gonna be him), Colome (don't see it), and Rodon (again, don't see it).
  2. Not sure where to post so will post here....but RaBBIt said a couple times in the now closed Wheeler thread that the Sox have another pending 40 man move. Later called it a "cut". Could be something as simple as DFAing one of the last couple guys on the 40 man (Medeiros, Vieira, Zavala, Fulmer) but the way I read it (admittedly could be wrong), was that is was more of an unexpected name / current 25 man piece. Maybe Sox deciding the move on from Leury as well at his projected $4M pricetag? Either way, interesting.
  3. Lol are you serious dude? Nothing in that post was belittling to you. I disagreed. I am not backtracking at all. I still think Merkin's comment was incredibly direct. You don't. Agree to disagree.
  4. Huh? When did I do that?
  5. Why would the Sox allow him - the one media member who they directly control - to directly mention 1 specific FA in an article that had nothing to do with free agency? Look, I am not saying that I think the Wheeler deal is signed and its just waiting to be announced - but I think there is definitely something going on the in the background. I don't necessarily think Yolmer being placed on outright waivers had anything to do with Wheeler - I do think its possible the Sox just wanted to prove to Yolmer that no other team was going to pay him $6.2M, but give him that opportunity - but I still think it is interesting that Wheeler was directly mentioned in the article that had absolutely nothing to do with Wheeler, free agency or starting pitching. That is it.
  6. Lol, dude I am not arguing anything. I think that Scott Merkin, the Sox in-house beat writer for years and years, who definitely at times gets fed information and is told by the org if/when/how to disseminate it literally mentioning Zack Wheeler by name in an article that had nothing to do with free agency is very interesting. That is it. That is all I am saying. Nothing more. And plenty of pitchers have been linked to the Sox by name in the media - why not list off Wheeler, Ryu, Keuchel and Madbum? Why just mentioned Wheeler? I find it interesting, others find it interesting, you may not.
  7. Yes - in articles about free agency and potental fits. If he wrote an article about FA SP that made sense for the Sox, no one would think him mentioning Wheeler meant anything other than Wheeler making sense on paper. He literally mentioned 1 player not affiliated with the White Sox in an article about placing Yolmer on outright waivers and creating a roster space. These are very different things, whether you care to agree or not.
  8. He is literally the Sox in-house beat writer. He had no reason whatsoever to mention Wheeler in a Yolmer article, unless he was told to do so. He doesn't benefit and the Sox don't benefit from pissing more fans off by getting their hopes up about a FA they aren't serious about.
  9. ChiSox59 posted a topic in Pale Hose Talk
    Was getting concerned there.
  10. It’s not a bad move if he gets paid what he wants. Once you start waiting things out, you lose suitors.
  11. There isn’t going to be any “pushing though” with Yolmer. He’s not going to the minors. You only do this Move if you’re done with the guy and there isn’t mutual interest in working something out.
  12. A team could still claim and then non tender if they couldn’t get Yolmer to sign a deal they liked in next week. Minimal risk, obviously would just need a 40 man spot.
  13. ...because its an accurate statement - the White Sox have not announced they placed Yolmer on waivers. Placing a player on outright waivers does not directly remove him from the 40 man, so the club probably wouldn't make the announcement until he is formally removed from the roster either via claim or by clearing waivers and being outrighted off the roster.
  14. There is frankly nothing to announce until he's claimed or clear waivers and is removed from the 40 man.
  15. Kipnis certainly wouldn't be my first choice, but on a cheap 1 year deal I wouldn't lose any sleep over it.
  16. If the Sox do land him, I just really hope the deal isn't insane. Like it or not, the Sox are going to have budgetary restrictions, and a good way to fuck it is to pay a gross amount of money for a good not great pitcher. We need to do it, but I just hope the deal is 5/$100M max. Still a ton of risk in that deal for the Sox, IMO.
  17. Yah...I mean its one thing to mention a FA in an article about free agency. Its quite another to mention it about a rumored but not club announced or confirmed waiver move freeing a roster spot. I would say that is pretty promising coming from a guy like Merkin, who obviously is directly fed information and told how to disseminate it.
  18. No one is losing their mind. And how is the Sox inside beat writer legitimately naming Zack Wheeler in a Yolmer article not direct? "Zack Wheeler...The team would need an open spot for any sort of free-agent addition, and the right-handed starter is a player who the White Sox had interest in. Any deal with Wheeler would mark another major step in the White Sox push to contention in ’20 and beyond..." seems pretty direct to me.
  19. The patience will be worth it in the end. Its only a couple weeks.
  20. Lol, that is amazingly direct. Pretty obvious this thing is in the works.
  21. I don't think Robert has much of a reason to bite.
  22. Surprised Sox are OK with this. I guess better playing than sitting around eating.
  23. Jim has been in charge since 09. His dad died in 09. To say the twins haven’t been in a position to spend since 09 is not accurate. Change in ownership has absolutely nothing to do with the current ball club. That being said, the Twins are at the peak of their window based on their roster, and I fully expect Falvey and Lavine to make some moves.
