  1. With the signing bonus, its $16M in 2020. That saves $1.8M. This has nothing to do with financial flexibility in 2020, and everything to do with the Sox being loyal to their guy.
  2. Let’s stop quoting the troll, please.
  3. I kind of doubt Castellanos is going to want to go to a team that relegates him to DH already. Obviously money talks, but if it’s close, I assume he wants to the field at his age. I want pretty much nothing to do with Ozuna. I would be OK with Castellanos, but just think stop gap RF is better choice and save the money for a real RF in 2021.
  4. I still think a left handed RF should be the priority. Grandal definitely helps that issues immensely, but the lineup is still righty heavy. Will keep repeating it because it makes too much sense, but David Peralta should be the target. Good defense, good hitter from the left side. 1 year deal. Doesn’t cost a ton ($8-9M range in final year of arb). Frees up right field for a big FA or trade in 2021. Leury can play OF against LHP which he hits well against. Should be able to get him for a fringe guy or two. Peralta makes a ton of sense, gents.
  5. 12 hours later and I am still so damn happy about this. What a home run signing. No better fit for this lineup than Grandal on the FA market. Absolutely fantastic beginning to hopefully an amazing offseason.
  6. Yah, thanks for the response. I had forgotten about that.
  7. Let's hit on the Wheeler pick too!
  8. Yah, I mean, who would want a 25 year old coming off back to back seasons of being a top 15 pitcher in the AL in their rotation?
  9. I think it is closer to $82-85M with min guys and no Yolmer, but picking hairs at that point.
  10. I am not exactly opposed to EE, but if the Sox bring him in, Collins is definitely not on the MLB roster and is either in AAA or traded. Just way too many 1B/DH types in that scenario to make it work on the roster. But if EE is cheap enough, its not a terrible idea. Collins can get everyday reps in AAA, and he'll certainly get his opportunity. He does still have 2 options.
  11. Insert confused emoji. Honestly, I think McCann is just that guy for 2020. He'll catch against lefties, Grandal to DH or 1b, with Abreu taking the other spot. Collins gets starts against RHP, mostly at DH, but some C and 1B sprinkled in.
  12. I think Hamels is beating a 1 year deal. JMO.
  13. Yah, I mean that's not going to happen. Its going to be a good rotation piece like Wheeler/Ryu/Madbum and then a 1 year deal SP like Wood, Miley, Hill, Gio Gonzalez, Smyly, Porcello, Etc. Assuming (hoping) the first one is Wheeler, I expect the 1 year stop gap add to be a lefty.
  14. I mean, he's far more connected than just some random twitter/soxtalk dude.
  15. I dont know exact date, but he spent 37 games on the roster in 2018, so anything over that and Sox would get year back. Late May is good guesstimate as the cutoff.
  16. If you keep Kopech in AAA until late May, you get year of control back. That is huge. The guy isn't going to be able to pitch 180 innings next year....take it slow with him in AAA. Call him up in early June. I'd much rather have Kopech pitching for the Sox in August/Sep than in March/April. Its a no brainer, IMO.
  17. What is up with the Gavin Lux reference?
  18. McCann is WELL above average hitter against LHP. I think he will catch most of those days, but sticking him at DH occasionally against LHP isn't a bad play by any means.
  19. No worries, didn't necessarily mean just this thread. Its been talked about for months. Some may say they don't want to rely on Collins in a DH time share, but if you fill RF with an above average bat, I think its OK. Can also get Leury in LF some day and Eloy to DH. Plenty of ways to not overexpose Collins.
  20. +100. I was skipping down the halls, surrounded by twins fans.
  21. No, its been explained in depth - but its literally the perfect platoon. Grandal plays everyday. McCann catches against LHP, Grandal to DH or 1B. Collins gets a few starts per week at DH against RHP. Only way Collins is left out is if they add a LH DH, which I don't see them doing.
  22. Good guy - hope he catches on somewhere.
  23. $1M off. Not bad! Hopefully they can keep knocking stuff off the list.
  24. Give me David Peralta.
