Cease To Padres per Passan
That noise you hear is Balta firing up the backhoe to move those goalposts!

Cease To Padres per Passan
Very unlikely it’s the “next one”. At least 16 months from trading Robert.

Cease To Padres per Passan
I can’t wait for the Os to finish 3rd in the ALE. Morons.

3/13 Sox @ Brewers
It’s not like they released Lee. My guess is we’ll see plenty of him in 24.

Cease To Padres per Passan
That, and Grifol went from "Cease is my OD starter" a few weeks ago to "How the heck am I supposed to know if he's going to be on the OD roster" yesterday --- it doesn't take a whole lot of deduction to think something has some legs.

Sure hope not. I’d literally rather see any of Fletcher, Colas or DeLoach over Sheets in RF. And yes, I know 2 of them have already been optioned.

Im no Mous guy, but may as well use Sheets option and let Moustakas have a run at it. We’ve seen what Sheets can do, and it sucks. He’ll find his way back to the roster before long.

Cease To Padres per Passan
Rosenthal's job is literally to write about baseball rumors in the offseason. Of course his scoops are going to occasionally be wrong. Morosi is kind of a dope, so he deserves some flack from baseball fans, but like - these guys are paid to be "insiders". This is quite different from posters who come in here/or on twitter with the eyeballs, etc. acting like they have something, never share much of consequence, and then will claim they had it early when the deal does eventually go down. Now that stuff is lame. Either share what you got, or keep the innuendos to yourself - that I 100% agree with you on.

I’d prefer a cold water tweet than that garbage Tex proposal in Rosenthal’s article. Duran, Porter and Lieter is a tuuuurrrribbblllleee

Cease To Padres per Passan
I was asking for packages both including Jones, and not including Jones. I don't think the Sox move Cease to NYY without Jones, tbh.

Cease To Padres per Passan
What are some realistic packages including and not including Jones? Jones, Hampton, and Lalane? Arias, Hampton, Lombard and LaLane?

A little surprised to see Speas optioned already. Seemed like he had a leg up on a rotation spot with already having a 40-man spot.

3/4 D-backs @ Sox
Can't argue with that!

Can the Sox field a competitive team in 2025? Or is 2026 or beyond a better target?
The Sox have less than $38M committed to their 2025 roster. Even if Cease and Eloy are somehow on the 25 roster (chances of both are out 0%, I'd imagine), its still sub $70M. Unless JR is going full out A's-mode, they're going to have to sign some legitimate free agents next offseason.

3/4 D-backs @ Sox
Helpful anecdote 19 years later.

3/4 D-backs @ Sox
I get what you're saying and I too wish every game was televised, but what you're asking for is something no other team does. So this isn't just another "white sox gonna white sox".

3/4 D-backs @ Sox
I mean, there are plenty of things to b**** about regarding the Sox, but does any team set up a webcast to every single spring game? Clearly not, or every Sox spring game would be televised and we wouldn't be having this conversation. Just like every team has dudes that get hurt.

I don't think it is that likely just because he'd need to be added to the 40 man, likely along with 4-5 other NRIs.

This probably pretty close to the OD lineup except Fletcher in for Pillar and maybe shifted up the lineup a bit.

Competitive in this division? Sure. Sox have very little committed to the 2025 roster and payroll besides a bargain superstar in Robert. A little tough to see Getz's longer term vision at this point (besides improving the defense) as nearly everyone he has acquired is a 1 year stop gap outside of Fletcher.

No, and even if he did it doesn't matter. Its not up to him.

Grifol: DeJong, Lopez, Maldonado are good on offense
I absolutely cringe every time the man speaks. I would love to see the Sox surprise this season and play some level of interesting baseball for a few months, but if the season goes off the rails, one benefit is that clown hopefully being jettisoned to the moon.

Sox trade Matthew Thompson to Cubs for old friend Bailey Horn
Matt Thompson and Baily Horn have the exact same amount of control. Sure, Horn is a couple years older, but the Sox traded a guy who extremely likely to never make it for a guy that has a decent chance to be a part of the Sox bullpen the next half decade+, and has three options. I also don't really understand why some here are grouping Dom Fletcher into the "low upside situational player" pool. He looks like a 2 WAR floor player that can play above average OF defense all three OF positions.
