3-2 = 1 Math is hard.

Dipoto up to his BS again. Weird trade

Mayo is a "premium prospect" with "4+ WAR upside", yet Cease a question mark after averaging 4.2 WAR the past three seasons under cheap control for 2 seasons in a market in which mediocre and injury prone SPs are getting $14M+ AAV. This is why no one takes you seriously.

Enjoyable listen, btw. Impressive those dudes were able to get an hour of Passan's time.

Will any team give Trevor Bauer a last shot?
ChiSox59 replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Trevor Bauer is POS. But I would definitely sign him if I were the Sox. I mean, realistically, what do they have to lose at this point? 95% of fans already hate them. -
For sure. I waste plenty of time here. But I am a die hard white sox fan. Its a tad different.
-
It's going to be comical when Cease goes elsewhere for a ransom and all these O's fans wasted 6 weeks of their life accumulating hundreds of know-it-all posts on a White Sox message board. Only to become more comical when the O's pitching is terrible in 2024.
-
My price from the O's has increased to Kjerstad, Ortiz, Beavers and Povich due to their p****footing. A Kjerstad, Norby and Povich package would concern me. Both the headliners have serious poor OF/1B risk. We've been down the road so many times. I am willing to take the risk on Kjerstad, but the supporting piece needs to be more well rounded than Norby IMO.

We agree. Time to pay up.

White Sox sign RHP Chad Kuhl to minor league deal
ChiSox59 replied to Sleepy Harold's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Nothing wrong with this. At least Charlotte will have some SP this year after having basically none for multiple seasons. -
There is just absolutely no way you can say that. Very good chance Cease performs better than Cy Grayson's 5 ER in 1.2 IP in game 2 when the O's scored 8 runs but still lost because their SP was dreadful. But yeah, O's offense was brutal in 2 of 3 games. Oh and how can I forget Kremer's 6 ER in 1.2 in game 1. Woof.
-
Yep, sure worked well when the O's got swept in the playoffs and gave up 21 runs in 3 games.
-
I had completely missed the Sox signed Chad Kuhl to an minors deal a few days back. Didn't see that reported anywhere or here. Was brutal last year for the Nats, but has appeared in the bigs 7 of the last 8 seasons (other was down with TJS) and pitched 137 innings for Colorado in 2022.

Winker is a horrific OF. Doubt he's an option. I think Grichuk, Duvall and Gallo should all be explored.
-
The absolute best case scenario is Hill and Flexen have career year first halves of the season are are flipped for some other teams AAAA garbage they don't want to to clear 40 man space, or a middling prospect that needs protecting the next winter they won't have room for. These guys aren't going to return any value even in the remote chance they are great. The only signing the Sox have made that have any legitimate flipping upside is Fedde, and even that upside requires alot to go right.
-
If Sox are married to burying Colas in AAA for most of the season, Gallo is a logical choice. The guy blows, but at least has some upside and will play above average defense. I imagine he'd probably prefer to play for a team that has a prayer at competing, tho.
-
I felt like once the Sox got hosed in the lottery, it might have changed their stance on 2024 roster construction. If you can't do better than the 10th pick, and you're in a god awful division, you may as well try to scrap together a passable club on short term deals. Since the winter meetings, the Sox look closer to a team that is tanking (for no benefit) than a team that is attempting to at least stay afloat in the ALC. Its so gross.
-
Man, if you can't get a RF via the Cease deal, just let Colas learn in the bigs. Robbie Grossman does absolutely nothing to move this org forward.

Here is our 4th OF.

Oh yes, offseason articles. Definitely a great source of information.

Why would the mariners trade one of their legit SPs if they’re trying to compete?
