  1. I liked Mena and all and realize he was young for AA/AAA but he had over a 1.4 whip. Gave up tons of hits and walks. Chances are overwhelming he is not the next Chris Bassitt.
  2. Sox can’t afford to not get a high impact offensive piece for Cease. Neither of us know exactly what had been offered so it’s tough to say if he’s overplaying his hand, but I’m glad he hasn’t settled. The offer I quoted is settling imo.
  3. Im not defending the Dejong move because it sucked, but your obsession with Rosario is weird. Guy isn’t even a SS at this point and Getz clearly made pretty much every move with an eye on vastly improving the defense. Rosario was never an option.
  4. Maybe WBWSF is Getz dad.
  5. I’d rather just see what happens next couple months than take that deal. It’s fine, but I’m certain Getz wants more and he should.
  6. Benintendi was worth 2 WAR than Bellinger from 20-22. I’d rather have Bellinger but he’s an extremely flawed player.

  8. Problem is that $5M buyout. Say Sox trade Yoan on July 31. They would still owe him $13M. I just don't see how anyone would acquire him even if he is on pace for a 4 WAR type season unless Sox eat at least half of it (which maybe they would). I don't think there is real any chance of a return outside of salary relief.
  9. I wonder how good Yoan has to be to get that $25M team option picked up. It’s really a $20M net decision for the Sox with the $5M buyout. Does a healthy 4 WAR 2019 type season do it? I’m not even sure with Colson waiting in the wings and likely to shift to 3B in the bigs, and the Sox next best position player prospect in Ramos also being a 3B.

    Rosario is a terrible SS.

Beni is amazingly not even 30 yet. I don't think its crazy the Sox could get someone to eat the deal if they prorated it down to like $13M AAV (call it Sox kicking in $10M). That would obviously require Beni to have a very nice first half, tho. I do think he is a much better player than we saw in 23.
  12. This feels like a deal the Sox could have beaten with some creative accounting on the $1.5M they owe Liam the next 10 years.

They guaranteed him $800k a couple months ago. I think he’s prob locked in, and like you said, can be ILd now anyway.

Thanks for correcting. Thought it was 2 for some reason, but even with 1 point remains. Doubt he’s in the chopping block just yet.

Sheets has 2 options and Sox have very little 1B depth after AV. I doubt he’s even in the 4 or 5 closest to DFA. Peralta, Banks, Drohan and even out of options guys like Garcia and Lambert would go first I would imagine. Gonna need some space for some of these older vets that will probably break camp too. That said, I’d bring in Smith Njigba for sure.
  16. Nice. Fan of Rubber Arm Shaw. Will certainly see him on the Southside at some point this year.
  17. Again, Colas is nowhere near “sink or swim”. Sox could park him in AAA for all of 24-25 and wouldn’t need to make an actual decision on him until opening day 2026.

I was perusing the Sox roster resource page and I saw they signed former top prospect Lucius Fox to an milb deal last week. Maybe I missed it but hadn’t seen that mentioned on here.
  19. I feel like Shewmake would be the bench IF before Sosa. Also Martin and Foster will be 60 day ILd in a few days, that’ll open two spots. Peralta and Drohan would prob be next in DFA line. But yah, the 40 man is a tad crowded with all the churning. Don’t think Sosa is remotely close to being DFA tho.
  20. He’s not. edit: should have read further.
  21. Why would he have to make it through waivers?
  22. These really aren’t comparable situations at all, especially Bauer. TAs issues getting signed are because he was a god awful player last season and isn’t really a SS.
