  1. Mena sits like 92 as a 20 year old. I don’t doubt he’ll be a big leaguer, but he had back of the rotation upside with control issues. I get the concerns with Fletchers projectability and limited upside, but he’s ready now and is likely a significant upgrade over anything else the Sox have in RF. Also a nice platoon fit with Pillar.
  2. Very unlikely with no upper minors 1B and Sheets having two options. Is hopefully the end of Sheets on the big league roster for now, tho.
  3. Because his offensive upside is worth far more to the Sox than whatever he’d return via trade. It’s really that simple. AV is the exact type of guy the Sox should be giving plate appearances to in a lost season because if he turns in a .280/.340/.460 type season (which I would imagine he’s capable of), he’s a pretty decent piece for 25-26.
  4. Regarding Deloach, he feels like one of those mediocre LHH that always come to the Cell and get 2-3 bombs in a series. For whatever reason, Sox have really struggled to find LH hitters with pop that actually work out for them. Maybe this guy will actually take advantage of playing half his season in a bandbox that should be a haven for guys with pop from the left side.
  5. Because they’re absolutely loaded with OFs and very few pitching prospects. Fletcher has 2 more options.
  6. Sox don’t have to make any real decisions on Colas for two years. His value is zapped, absolutely zero reason to move on from him now. Park him in AAA and make him change minds.
  7. Probably Fletcher. Doloach sounds like an average defender at best, though probably has more pop. I would guess a Fletcher / Pillar platoon to start.
  8. Sheets does still have two options, fwiw. With these two deals, Sox do need to make a 40 man spot with Berroa, Deloach and Fletcher in and Santos and Mena out.
  9. Exactly what my first impression was. Interesting deal. I think the Sox weren’t too high on Gregory as a teammate.
  10. It all comes down Yoan, Eloy, AV and Beni being what they can be for this to be anything better than a bottom 3 offense in the league. Sound familiar?
  11. Yah. It’s certainly not going to be an exciting brand of baseball.
  12. Yah I just don’t see it on Moncada. I certainly agree that he can be a useful and even productive player. But the $ is and will be a huge deterrent even if the bat wakes up. Jerry isn’t going to eat $8-10M to trade Yoan for a bag of balls in July. I do agree that barring a monster and healthy season from Eloy, this will be his last in a Sox uni.
  13. Ehhh. I think this team will have a better record than 2023. It’s not like any of the guys we lost were worth a damn last season even if there was a lot of big names, and this team will at least play above average defense. Looks more like a 70 win team to me.
  14. Pretty underwhelming offseason for the Twinks to date as well.
  15. You might be able to dump Moncada if he has a 2019 like first half, but he absolutely is not “flippable”. Dude is making $29M in calendar year 2024. Eloy could maybe return something interesting like Gio did if he stays healthy and rakes. Big time if. He’s also due around $17M in 2024.
  16. At least he can play defense. Not a high bar to clear, but he’s a farrrr better option than Gavin Sheets.
  17. Sure. $3M feels a bit rich if he makes roster, but not my $.
  18. Didn't really feel worth of a new thread but Marlins hired away Sam Mondry-Cohen to be their VP of Player Personnel . Was Sox MLB analytics coordinator for just one year after being an assistant GM with the Nats. Getz noted Mondry-Cohen as recently as last week as one of the guys they hired from outside the org, or without Royals ties.
  19. Hey, good for the Os. I’d rather hold Cease than take this horseshit offer.
  20. Well….if opening day was tomorrow, he’d probably be out there. Unfortunately.
  21. I still think a Woo + Montes + Clase framework makes some sense.
  22. He can easily be moved in ST. Pitchers reporting doesn’t really mean much of anything in terms of a deadline to move him.
  23. I mean I’d much rather he ask for too much than accept too little. Plenty of time left here.
  24. With Romy having two options remaining, I probably would have cut Peralta or Ramsey first. But not worth getting too worked about. Sox 40 man is in a weird spot. Getz has turned over so much of it that we’re basically down to cutting guys he’s recently acquired if they continue to add 40 man pieces without subtracting. You got Peralta, Ramsey and Speas and then after those three there really aren’t obvious DFA candidates if you work under the assumption Getz is not going to DFA guys he recently signed or traded for.
