  1. I could see that. Dodgers are smart enough to do something unique.
  2. Assuming no more major league additions, here is my shot at the OD roster: Catcher: Castillo 1B: Abreu 2B: Yolmer SS: Anderson 3B: Moncada LF: Palka CF: Engel RF: Jay DH: Alonso BN: Leury (out of options), Rondon (out of options), McCann Rotation: Rodon, Lopez, Nova, Giolito, Banuelos (out of options) Bullpen: Colome, Herrera, Jones, Fry, Frare, Covey, Hamilton, Minaya (out of options) DL: Santana
  3. Well there is they "mystery team" offer that is over $300M, along with the Phillies. We know its not the Dodgers or he would have signed. All indications are the Giants are not willing to go that long. So....could very well be the Sox.
  4. Because there is a significant difference between 4/$160M and 10/$320M????
  5. No one has any idea, but safe to assume somewhere beween $34.5M-$40M AAV on a 3-4 year basis.
  6. Pretty obvious he prefers the west coast. If he's signing a short term deal, it isn't going to be with the White Sox. Only reason he would sign with the Sox is 1) they offer the most money and 2) they offer the most money and he hates the idea of spending 10 years in Philly. End of story.
  7. Is he really going to take a short term deal from the Dodgers or San Fran? Man TF up Jerry.
  8. That Cain deal looks like an absolute steal now. Well done by the Brewers.
  9. I do think that it is important to have waves of talents that hit FA in different years. First wave will be Moncada, Anderson, Lopez and Gio. Second wave Kopech, Eloy and Cease. Third wave Robert, Madrigal, etc.... Everyone hitting FA the same offseason isn't ideal. And Eloy is ready. He will be up in late April.
  10. I believe SS2k and I have discussed it before. I personally was super against promoting Kopech when they did last season (as was at least a portion of this board). Obviously once he was up I was excited to watch him. The decision was just exacerbated to the 10th degree when he blew out his elbow. IMO, it was a dumb move. I would have happily waited until May 2019 to watch him pitch. He could file a grievance all he wanted - he wasn't going to win IMO. Now I do agree that based on his previous 15 starts or whatever he was definitely ready for the bigs - but he was pitching meaningless games and wasting very meaningful service time for like 5-6 starts. I didn't like it. Now who knows if he blows out his elbow in his final handful of starts in AAA. Maybe he does it this winter, or in ST. Maybe it doesn't happen until May 2019 when he's pitching in the bigs. No one knows. It is what it is now. But one thing is certain - the way it played out literally could not have been worse for the Sox.
  11. Kopech wasn’t going to win any grievances. He had overall decent not great minor league numbers last season. Spilled milk and no reason to debate, but he wasn’t so incredibly dominant that he’d have won a grievance and been forced onto the mlb roster while sitting out a year rehabbing from TJS.
  12. Pretty sure Grandal has a pretty reasonable option that is very likely to be picked up.
  13. At least he’d be on the minor league DL and not wasting close to 20% of his service time...
  14. Probably should have just gotten surgery last summer instead of trying to rehab a UCL injury. Knew this would happen at some point.
  15. Interesting, indeed.
  16. Yes its different. He's got the Bagwell crouch going on.
  17. No, I didn't see the at bat. Checking in when I have a free moment.
  18. Engel doubles in Cordell. He's messed with his stance again. He's way more crouched than last season. Still think Cordell could be interesting. He is not a small dude and has pretty good speed.
  19. Rendon isn't Arenado or Machado, but he certainly isn't meh. Career slash lines for all three: Rendon: .285/.361/.469 Machado: .282/.335/.487 Arenado: .291/.346/.530
  20. I would prefer not to give Preller an opportunity to fleece us again. And I am guessing Padres would rather keep Myers for now since they just acquired a $300M 3B to help them win baseball games sooner rather than later.
  21. FWIW, I don't disagree with you. But if that is what it took to get him, I'd do it. The alternative is for it to never happen. But yah, opt out after 4 or 5 seasons is far more palatable.
  22. Maybe we'll record our first win, playing against Royals split squad. 205pm game time. Looks like it'll be streamed on Chisox.com for mlb.tv customers. Lineup: Engel CF, Anderson SS, Abreu DH, Alonso 1B, McCann C, Leury 3B, Madrigal 2B, Cordell RF, Tucker LF Jimmy Lambert on the bump.
  23. 2020 being the beginning of the window of contention is fucking pipe dream at this point. That went out the window when Kopech got hurt, and the Sox completely fucked up acquiring a HOF caliber 3B at age 26.
  24. I mean....I agree, but whats the point in keeping him? At best, 67% of his remaining control is going to be on sub .500 teams. Moncada still has 5 years...Eloy 7 (if the Sox don't botch that)...the calculus is different. I love Rodon and still think he can be a really good major league SP. The best play is probably to hope he blows up this year and trade him in July or next offseason. But he's another injury away from likely having very little value whenever he returns.
  25. Yah, I wasn't on board for trading Rodon at all until like...now. But whats the point in keeping him now? At most you're getting 1 impending FA season of him with this team competing. 2020 is toast. 2019 is another tank year. I suppose you let him go out this season, hopefully look like an ace, and trade him for a ransom in July. That is probably still the right play..but certainly not risk free. I think Pint still has a good deal of value. I personally like Tapia alot. Still just 25. Has absolutely raked in the minors and never really been given a chance in the Rox crowded OF. He'd a perfect guy to get in the backend of a deal, IMO. Obviously Welker is the big catch though, and if you can get another one of their nice pitching prospects with Pint (like Lambert), it makes alot more sense.
