  1. If I had to guess, I like the Dodgers on like a $330M/14 year deal type structure that has been suggested. Gets the AAV way down for luxury tax purposes. Obviously the opposite of what we've heard that they're interested on a short-term basis only, but this solves their problem more than a short term deal does. Then they just figure out how to rid themselves of him 6-8 years down the line in some salary dump deal.
  2. I was referring to the injury last June that they decided to just rehab. I went back and looked and it appears they categorized it as an "elbow strain"...that ended up costing him the remainder of the season.
  3. Lol, obviously I am not a doctor. But this is clearly a recurring problem with Dunning. I don't recall exact diagnosis from last summer, but doesn't he have a partially torn UCL? This is going to continue to be a problem until he gets it fixed.
  4. Meh...just get the fucking surgery. Clearly his UCL is not right and he's just a ticking time bomb until it snaps.
  5. They player will go wherever they get paid the most. This has been proven over and over and over and over and over in FA. Eloy isn't resigning with the White Sox for a discount in 6 years because they called him up 2-3 weeks earlier. To suggest that would make any meaningful difference is pretty comical.
  6. You know what time tonight?
  7. Yah, I am not surprised you feel that way as it fits your narrative. But the $175M was bullshit and the only people parroting it were Bruce Levine and Bob Nightengale. Everyone else said it was bullshit, because it was.
  8. I know you view everything White Sox related in negative/pessimistic lens, and right now, I've never been closer to doing the same. BUT....the Sox had the 2nd best offer on the table for Machado. They beat 28 other teams. Being runner up means nothing at the end of the day and I fully understand that, but I wouldn't exactly call their offer an " extreme lowball". They offered one of the top 5 guaranteed money contracts in the history of the game with the chance to the be the highest with attainable vesting options, and additional incentives. They just overplayed their hand over the course of a multiple month process trying to get the best deal possible for the organization...and that may have ultimately caused Lazano do not give them the ability the counter the Padres offer. They fucked it right up, and I am the first to admit it. But I don't think "extreme lowball" is fair characterization.
  9. Says probably the only guy on this board that doesn't want anything to do with Harper.
  10. Yah, I don't see it. With Machado...sure. Without? Too many holes.
  11. Yay for 1B/DHs! The top of the draft board will shake up alot over the next few months...I really hope the Sox don't take a 1B 3rd overall.
  12. Kopech won't have pitched in a 18 months. He'll be back, but to expect him to be able to pitch over 150 innings and actually be the ace we would need him to be to compete in 2020 is......a pipedream. Its possible in the sense that anything is possible. But there is no way this team is playing meaningful baseball in 2020 at this point, IMHO.
  13. His name definitely came up a lot in discussions here and on twitter, but who knows if he was ever really available.
  14. That Jesus Luzardo for Robertson deal looks pretty good as well.
  15. We aren't competing in 2020. That shit flew out the window with Kopech and Machado.
  16. I saw a tweet from someone (fegan maybe?) a week or so ago - may have been buried in the Manny news - that Hansen was having shoulder discomfort when throwing prior to ST and had alerted the team.
  17. Sounds about right
  18. Im with ya dude. This org is a fuckin' joke right now.
  19. I prefer pollyana CWS.
  20. So after 3 years there are a series of five 1 year player options? Wow.
  21. I know the Sox probably don't want their name bandied about in the media / negotiations due to the Machado fallout, but what is stopping Boras or Boras' mouthpieces from still using the Sox for leverage? Even if it is against the Sox wishes, there is nothing really stopping the Sox from still being used left and right even if they're in this thing and don't want it public. Whats your take there?
  22. Sox never had a chance with Harper IMO, but if San Fran is willing to go 10 years and "a chance at the record dollar figure he's been looking for" as some San Fran people are reporting now, this thing is over.
  23. I don't necessarily think it is, and I've said all along I don't think Harper has interest in the signing with the Sox. I think they could offer 10/$330M and it could be the best offer by $30M and he won't take it. I am just struggling to determine who that other $300M offer could be if not the Sox.
