Yah, I've lived in Minneapolis or the surrounding areas for the majority of my life. If it is wonderful place to grow up and a great place to raise a family. A strong economy, good paying jobs, safe, clean, good schools. All four seasons; tons to do in the summer. The lakes are phenomenal. Great fishing, great golfing. All major sports teams. Great food and music scene. It's a great place to live. But the winters are brutal.

I agree, LAD probably doesn't take that deal. But they seem motivated to move Joc. They want to add Pollock and need to move someone. IMO, the whole Joc move makes so much more sense as a LAD salary dump with Hill tied to the deal with minimal return from the Sox, but seems cold water has been thrown on that idea from those in the know.

I said anyone. As in, no other teams are going to be bowling LAD over for Joc either. I wasn't referring to only the Sox. If you can get Joc for something like Bummer + Lambert or Stephens, I am doing it all day everyday, regardless of Machado. I would prefer to hold onto lottery tickets like Fulmer and Bush, personally.

I think that's a fair take. I see it both ways. To be fair, I said if the price isn't that high. If the Sox are acquiring Joc without MM, I think the value I'd be willing to give up would be slightly less. In any event, I don't think anyone is giving up much of anything for Joc with the FA market still flush with options.

I personally just don't think Harper was ever a realistic option for the Sox. I am sure the Sox would have interest if MM goes elsewhere, but I doubt they're paying him what would be required to actually get him to sign here ($360M+). I don't think Bryce is at all interested in playing for the Sox. Just my opinion.

Why are teams going to give up real assets when you can just go sign a guy like Nick Markakis for $6M? Still some good players on the FA market. I don't think any team is going to be bowling LAD over for Joc.

And going through what is likely a pretty stressful process again in 10-11 months, when you're 1 year older, 1 less year of prime, and 1 full season of injury risk. It makes no sense.

Valencia does still torch LHP - .295/.371/.496 slash his last three seasons. Not really an OF, but did play 17 games in RF last season.

If Joc is added in the coming days, thinking Nicky starts in AAA and Palka is the 3 week stand in, that likely goes to AAA when Eloy arrives. First three weeks: LF: Jay; CF: Joc; RF: Palka; 4th OF: Engel Rest of season: LF: Eloy; CF: Joc; RF: Jay; 4th OF: Engel Engel probably sticks on the roster unless the Sox add a RH bat that can play all three OF positions. Brandon Guyer is a dude who had torched LHP most of his career, but he was awful last season. Maybe someone to look at for an milb deal with an invite to ST, though. Not sure how he is defensively at this point. There really are not any FAs left that can play a legitimate CF other than Pollock.
