  1. I was simply responding to the poster that said you could get Harper and Machado for $65-70M per season. It'd be more like $90-$100M pre opt outs. Not speculating that it could or will happen.
  2. Dodgers Alvarez? I'd personally rather hold onto Abreu and see what this offseason holds than trade him for another potential future reliever.
  3. No doubt, but I highly doubt we'd get that kind offer. Two top 100 or recently graduated top 100 prospects for Abreu would be highway robbery at this point. It isn't happening.
  4. I agree, tho it would likely be $90-100M per year, not $65-$70M.
  5. I’d do Moose in a two year deal if we got Harper. But I would hell do better this offseason based on what we’ve seen and his season.
  6. We’d be giving up nothing. Both Stepehens and Fulmer are likely to be off the 40 man before Gray would be.
  7. I don’t think Familia is getting anything near 4/$60. I do think the Sox ultimately do what is necessary to get one if Harper or Machado if it all possible. It remains to be seen if it’s actually possible. But I doubt that happens before Christmas. Id like to see the Sox add some pitching one short term deals. Sign Pomeranz 1 year $6.5M + option Sign Tyson Ross 1 year $5M + option Trade Jordan Stephens and Yolmer Sanchez for Sonny Gray Sign Stephen Vogt 1 year $2M Sign AJ Pollock 4 years $68M Get one of Harper/Machado a few weeks later for an effective 5 year $225M deal assuming they take opt out after 5.
  8. I know it’ll never happen, but man adding Harper and Machado would be so cool.
  9. Please no. Please.
  10. What a gross deal for Carrasco, and great deal for the Tribe. I did not, however, realize Carrasco will be pitching next season at age 32.
  11. Lol, people are just joking around man. We all appreciate you sharing the info. No one is going to get banned (except maybe Ron).
  12. Sox random dude says Bryce wants to live in Chicago, and someway or another Ron Kittle told someone the Sox currently have the best offer on the table. That is the scoop.
  13. I think you're missing the point. A lot of people (myself included) don't want to trade him because he has minimal trade value. He is paid appropriately, therefore no one is going to give up any significant prospect for 1 year of Jose. What's the point in trading Jose for some back-end top 15 prospect from LAD that we'll DFA or leave exposed to the Rule 5 in 500 days because we have no room on the 40 man? We're at the point in the rebuild that we either need MLB ready guys we can give an opportunity to in 2019, or significant prospects. We're going to have a real 40 man crunch after the 2019 season - we don't need more middling prospects. I also think some people are ready to see the Sox take the next step in the rebuild. Trading out best bat doesn't exactly help that.
  14. Zimmerman's 2013 and 2014 (he signed his deal after 2015) were pretty similar to Corbin's 2018. Zimmerman actually had significantly more ML success than Corbin prior to monster FA deal, and they were similar ages when big deal was signed.
  15. At the end of the day, I just hope JR is ready to open the checkbook. If the Sox don't increase their payroll into the $150-$190M range in 2020-2025, this whole thing was never going to work. Harper on an effective 4 year / $190M-$200M (asusming he takes first opt out) is great, but if the Sox FO isn't willing to spend to finish out the roster, it wasn't really worth it.
  16. Thanks for sharing Peavy44 - nice of you to do so. But I admit, that doesn't say a whole lot, and the dude just posted that on FB.
  17. I don't think Harper will sign for quite some time.
  18. We really don't need more LHP. We have four young legitimate left handed relievers with MLB experience.
  19. I agree the the proposed deal is too light (as I already mentioned), but I don't think Arizona is getting any prospects of note if they don't kick in cash with Grienke. I think Grienke could be had for something like Curbelo + Stephens, if the Sox took on the whole thing.
  20. I just don’t think Abreu has a ton of trade value. Man has a great stick and is paid appropriately for it. Little to no surplus value and limited defensively. Id move him for Ruiz in a second. But I’d blown away if LAD is offering anything near that.
