What's up with Saladino?
QUOTE (Jake @ Jun 28, 2017 -> 09:01 AM) Going to be some tough decisions when Leury and Saladino get healthy. Ehh. Willy goes down. By then Frazier should be gone.

Why do they keep running the elder Dunning out there?? Release the dude.

Gonna miss Q when he's gone. When he is right, he is an awfully fun pitcher to watch.

Red Sox Targeting Frazier?
QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 27, 2017 -> 08:27 PM) Just do Frazier for Swihart and move on Gross. Swihart is toast. OPSing .600 in AAA.

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jun 27, 2017 -> 08:25 PM) Daryl Van SchouwenVerified account @CST_soxvan 2m2 minutes ago Looks like Quintana, who is out of the inning, might have told Sanchez he struck him out two times. If we trust my lip-reading skills. That's fantastic.

QUOTE (bmags @ Jun 27, 2017 -> 07:30 PM) I think Sox won't back down on the top target I think what fills after that will be unexpected. Fair thought.

QUOTE (bmags @ Jun 27, 2017 -> 06:55 PM) People are going to be very disappointed with the return. Seeing as though I thought the Sale trade was a Rodriguez or Groome (or Devers instead of Basabe) short, I agree. But I just don't think the Sox will make sizably lesss than their demands, so I think he ultimately stays here for the time being.

QUOTE (beautox @ Jun 27, 2017 -> 06:42 PM) If Q is getting moved to the cubs I would think something like this gets it done Jimenez, Cease, Albertos & Caratini If the Braves want to get involved great. Maitan, Acuna, Gohara & Pache but by trading Q for either of those packages there will be no doubt that they won't compete till '20 at the earliest. I'm no expert on the Cubs system (or Braves for that matter), but that Braves package is much better than the Cubs. Jimenez is the best prospect of the bunch, however.

QUOTE (steveno89 @ Jun 27, 2017 -> 04:31 PM) I don't think the Cubs include Happ and Jimenez for Quintana. Lol (not at you), but thats what Hahn would be doing.

QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ Jun 27, 2017 -> 03:34 PM) That's exactly where I was expecting him to land, somewhere around the low 80s, maybe high 60s for his most liked publication. Hard to believe that there are 20-25 better pitching prospects in the game than Hansen at this point.

Quintana
QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 27, 2017 -> 03:14 PM) So bottom line, are you suggesting he needs to be the second piece, or that he is too valuable to be the second piece? If he is the main piece of Q trade, Q isn't going to the Braves.

Quintana
QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Jun 27, 2017 -> 03:05 PM) But a team gets him for a playoff run plus a full season, that has to be more valuable. I don't think we will get much more but I do think you will have some teams more desperate now then in the off-season. I dont think Hahn's asking price is going to be any different in 6 months than it is now. That is really all that matters.

How about Hansen? Has he been good enough to warrant top 50, even top 25 consideration?

2017 Minor League Catch-All thread
Where do we expect to see Alec Hanson in updated top 100s? Top 50 guy? Better?

Quintana
What is so exciting about Pache? Obviously he is young, and looks like a nice talent. But his low A ball numbers are fairly pedestrian for an OF, and seems like an awful like way away. As the 3rd or 4th piece? Sure. But thats what I'd be looking at him as.

Quintana
QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Jun 27, 2017 -> 02:32 PM) To me his value is lower in the off-season then it is at the deadline. Eh. Difference between 3 years and 3.5 years is negligible. As you saw with the Sale return, teams are only willing to trade so much talent for 1 player. I think the offers will be about the same now as they will be in the offseason. The fact that Q has been pretty mediocre this year just makes it more likely that a good few months to end the 17 season may boost his value from its current state. Using the Sale trade as an example, I am pretty sure Moncada would not have been on the table last July, but perhaps Benintendi would have been. Some teams won't move certain guys during the season that they more be more amenable to moving in the offseason. It just depends on the situation. If the Sox get the deal they want for Q this July, they'll move him. If they don't, they'll hold onto him (as they should) for now. Its really that simple.

Quintana
QUOTE (flavum @ Jun 27, 2017 -> 02:08 PM) I still think he stays. Offseason, he gone. Agreed. Sox aren't taking any less than what they want. Not sure they'll get in July, but we shall see.

QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Jun 27, 2017 -> 01:16 PM) I think it will be tough to promote him with Remillard there now and Burger presumably on the way, unless they want to try him at another position. True. However, I think Burger will be in WS before long. Remillard's numbers aren't exactly exciting.

QUOTE (steveno89 @ Jun 27, 2017 -> 11:57 AM) Ray's high K% rate does not scare you? I'd have to insist on Brinson in any Quintana deal, with more needing to be added as well. Personally, I don't love the Brewers as a trade fit. They have quality pieces, but I highly doubt they go all in at the deadline. Yankees = Frazier + Adams or Sheffield + Andujar or Florial + Flyer Astros = Tucker + Perez or Paulino or Whitley + JD Davis + Flyer Dodgers = Verdugo + Buehler + solid third piece + Flyer These could all be potential frameworks for a deal. I feel the Sox need to be getting two high quality prospects in return, a very good third piece with some upside and a low level flyer. Re read my post. I literally said I'd much prefer Brinson to Ray. Brinson, Diaz, Dubon and Bickford is a pretty good package, and Rick could definitely shoot for Ortiz or Hader instead of Bickford to make it a real home run (but that ain't gonna happen).

Think we'll see any Adolfo in the backend of any mid season top 100s?

Is there enough SP talent in the system?
You can never have too many SP prospects, but the sox need to diversify. Bats need to be the focus for the foreseeable future.

I can already tell I am going to like following this kid. Played his freshman year at Vandy, and did pretty well. Not sure what the story was with him transferring to Binghamton. I think we'll see him in Kanny before too long. Anyone know how is defense is?

QUOTE (steveno89 @ Jun 27, 2017 -> 11:33 AM) I don't see the Brewers emptying out their minor league system for a high profile starter at the deadline. They will need to rely on farm grown talent to stock their mlb roster moving forward. The preliminary conversations have all taken place, with Hahn telling the league that Quintana is on the block and being auctioned to the highest bidder essentially. The thing about Q is that they can build their rotation around him. I don't see them emptying their farm for a rental, but I think a deal like Brinson (may have to be Ray instead), Diaz, Dubon and Bickford for Q and Swarzak could be sold to their fans. The deal with Ray feels a bit light for me, but with Brinson probably feels a bit steep for them.

Sox claim Alen Hanson
QUOTE (steveno89 @ Jun 27, 2017 -> 09:07 AM) Some scouts grade Tatis as a future 65 - 70 grade player. I am praying that does not happen, otherwise the Shields trade is a total disaster. Who? I've seen exactly one scout / insider type, Keith Law, so much as rank him as a top 100 prospect. That's it.
