  1. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Jul 6, 2017 -> 11:26 AM) Same. I assume they could do better but I don't think it'll be the Nationals' top guys. Like I said above, if I were working for the Nats, I would target more control if I had to deal away top guys for help. Wasn't it Olney recently who said he thinks a deal between the 2 probably won't happen? Where else could Robertson potentially go? Yankees? Rangers if they start heating up over the next 3 weeks? Yah, he said they hadn't talked in awhile. But I take all that stuff with a grain of salt. Minimum, I want to see Kieboom + Luzardo. But I bet Ricky is still asking for Soto +, and he should be (for now).
  2. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Jul 6, 2017 -> 11:21 AM) Probably close to the original deal agreed upon this off-season but with more salary relief for the Sox (eating less/no money) thus, making it a better deal. I'd be pretty disappointed with Ward and Luzardo at this point.
  3. QUOTE (striker @ Jul 6, 2017 -> 09:55 AM) If he starts closing, he get's more expensive as well, which would impact his trade value. I think the increased value from middle reliever to closer far outweighs the decrease in value is higher arb figures.
  4. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jul 6, 2017 -> 11:19 AM) True, but I hope it's not the Sox asking for one of those 2 because it's not realistic and not happening. I certainly hope that the Sox are asking for Soto.
  5. He'll definitely be traded. My guess is a someone who will fit in around 15 on our T30, and a lottery ticket big arm in the low minors.
  6. Glad to see Hansen in the top 50. I thought we may start seeing that.
  7. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Jul 5, 2017 -> 03:18 PM) I'm sure other fans grilled him immediately. Yah, that is some certifiably stupid stuff there. But, the point remains, the Nats are going to get fleeced. They have no leverage at all.
  8. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 5, 2017 -> 02:48 PM) Let me put it this way with Tatis... Player A: .274 .360 .466 .827 in A ball. 90K in 296 AB Player B: .278 .336 .484 .819 in A ball. 90K in 273 AB One is a bust because of K rate, the other is a Super Prospect. Micker Adolfo! Seriously tho, nice comp.
  9. He is still pretty damn good at hitting baseballs.
  10. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jul 5, 2017 -> 11:19 AM) I think Kahnle could net a top 50 prospect and 2 fliers I think if we could get legit top 50 prospect on the offensive side, plus another interesting guy or two that may fit in towards the back of our T30, you do it all day. A guy like Verdugo (LAD), Isan Diaz (MIL), Willy Calhoun (LAD), Derek Fischer (HOU) or Delvin Perez (STL) would be a huge win for Kahnle. Unfortunately, I have a really hard time seeing those guys getting moved for Kahnle. My guess is he becomes our closer to August, and if he performs well, Hahn will look to trade him in the winter, and give Jones the closer role for next year.
  11. Hold unless someone wants to pay up. Make him the closer once Robertson goes, and if he performs well, you can trade him in the offseason, or continue to hold.

QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jul 5, 2017 -> 10:43 AM) Based on our minor league position player talent being a couple years away I would strongly consider resigning both Teal?
  13. I voted Melky, just because he is hot and won't cost a ton. I think Rick would pull the trigger quickly. But I could also see Robertson, Frazier or Holland going first.

QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jul 3, 2017 -> 04:38 PM) He's going to hit though. Even if he's a high OBP with power, if he stays at catcher, it's a win. If he's like a .265/.365/.450 guy with a bunch of homers and walks, he's likely an All-Star behind the plate. Sounds alot like a young Brian McCann, which obviously would be fantastic.
  15. No HR since that first swing, eh?
  16. ChiSox59 replied to zisk's topic in Pale Hose Talk
If the Sox are willing to eat a few million on Melky, he should be a pretty intriguing option for several teams. The guy can just flat out hit. You can much worse at DH / occasional OF.

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jun 30, 2017 -> 12:11 PM) Sign Konerko to play short. Hey! That'd get some butts in the seats!

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 30, 2017 -> 11:15 AM) And so were Jean Segura, Logan Morrison, Justin Smoak and Alonso. Every player who has a bad season or two isn't doomed forever. Look at Avisail Garcia. Escobar's career OBP is .292. He has taken 6 walks all year. He no longer steals bags. He is now over 30. He is a good defender, but that is it. You don't move Tim Anderson away from SS for Alcides Escobar. That is crazy.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 30, 2017 -> 11:09 AM) Hell, they could just sign Alcides Escobar (probably the best defensive SS in the game, him or Simmons) for $10 million/two years and target other more legit trade candidates instead of yet more utility infielders... Move Anderson or Moncada to CF, leave the other at 2B. Or Sanchez at 2b and both those guys in the OF with Avisail. Of course, the most obvious option is Leury Garcia at SS. The most obvious option is Tim Anderson. Let the kid play. Oh, and Alcides Escobar is terrible.
  20. QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ Jun 30, 2017 -> 11:01 AM) Like with Avi we'll see about Kahnle (who's ERA is now up in the three's. Still good...but not what it was) Uhhh. His ERA is 2.30.
  21. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 30, 2017 -> 09:26 AM) Not bad. Is post searching an admin only capability on this board? I've never been able to successfully search posts here. Either I am doing something wrong, or the capability is blocked (which sort of sucks if that is the case).

QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jun 30, 2017 -> 08:14 AM) For both guys? Agreed, I'd want more for both. I actually don't see Hahn packaging Q and what is likely his 2nd best realistic trade chip in Robertson.
  23. QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ Jun 29, 2017 -> 07:03 PM) I disagree they've been very good even when healthy (which has been about as rare as seeing a two dollar bill again) but that's just my opinion. Doesn't matter now...you can stick a fork in both of them because they are done. You said the same thing about Kahnle a couple months ago.... Putnam may be done. Petricka is not done.
  24. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 29, 2017 -> 02:53 PM) I know. I was just thinking how sad it is that it's still June and I can't look forward to any baseball games again the rest of the year. It's actually been this way the entire season for me. It's very bizarre to be fan of a team out of it on June 1. Nothing to look forward to, baseball wise. If we win a game it doesn't matter. If we lose it doesn't matter. Very sad that I have no desire to watch the Sox tonight or any night the rest of the year. I guess this could be the start of me losing interest in baseball completely which would please this board immensely. I mean we're looking at 5 more years of this. I find it impossible to believe the Sox can be this bad for 3-5 more years and not lose all young baseball fans. Why would a kid in grade school or high school follow this horses*** team? Sox marketing must not be worried but I can't imagine this team being relevant for a long time to come. The Sox have been out of it on June 1 pretty much every year since 2012.
