  1. Hahn, you are the f***ing man. Played the league like a fiddle. Waiting was the correct thing to do. Give me Eloy over Tucker all day long.
  2. QUOTE (TheTruth05 @ Jul 13, 2017 -> 09:14 AM) Any position players ahead of Moncada? Sorry I don't have insider I don't have Insider either, but there most definitely are. Law isn't as big on Moncada as most "talent evaluators".
  3. This really hit a screeching halt.
  4. Should have traded him last winter. The market appeared to have been there. Damn shame.
  5. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jul 13, 2017 -> 08:40 AM) It's funny to see how Cubs fans value Schwarber and how all other fanbase value him now. People on northsidebaseball.com were pissed at the thought of the Babe for Michael Fulmer. Where as every other fanbase thought it was a joke of an offer. I personally think he's overrated in Cubsdom, but will still be a very nice DH at some point. Certainly not a headliner for Q anymore though. Thing is, nice DHs aren't very hard to find, and they aren't that expensive. That is a roster spot you if fill via FA when you're ready, not waste a precious asset like Q on. I'd be fine with Schwarber as a part of a Q deal, but only in a something that also includes Eloy. Which I doubt is going to happen.
  6. QUOTE (Enscheff @ Jul 12, 2017 -> 05:09 PM) If I had to guess, I would imagine Coppy has offered 2 pitchers not named Wright (and probably not both Allard and Soroka), plus Pache, plus 1-2 other fungible assets. Hahn has that offer in his back pocket, and if the Yanks, Astros, Brewers, Rockies, or maybe even the Cubs, give in and include an elite position prospect, Hahn jumps. That deal ain't gonna get it done. Sox can do much better than Pache as the best bat, and Sox already have probably the best stable of pitching prospects in baseball.
  7. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Jul 12, 2017 -> 04:59 PM) I don't think years of control matter that much for relievers due to their inherent fickle nature. In fact in many cases they're probably more of a deterrent than a bonus, which I think happened with Robertson this past winter. But should be less of an issues with prearb and arb guys. A guy like Kahnle isn't going to be devalued because of his control, but it also is not a guaranteed contract.
  8. QUOTE (hi8is @ Jul 12, 2017 -> 04:20 PM) You initially said that some of those packages are exciting. I think they're all exciting and that's why the sentiment is that none of the other teams would accept them. No, that is not what I said. I said not all of that are that exciting.
  9. QUOTE (hi8is @ Jul 12, 2017 -> 04:06 PM) Well, that certainly clarifies things! What don't you understand? If Rabbit thinks all of those packages would be unacceptable to the other team, that is a bit disconcerting. Frazier, Andujar and Fowler is about the minimum I would take. Braves package is obviously nice, but I'd prefer more than just Acuna on the offensive side. Brinson + Dubon + Phillips seems light. I'd much prefer Diaz to Dubon. Rodgers + McMahon package seems like a good starting point. Maybe add a lower level bat instead of Lambert. Just seems if Rabbit thinks those packages are far too much that the Yanks, Braves, Brewers and Rockies won't reject the outright, we're all going to be very very very disappointed.
  10. QUOTE (hi8is @ Jul 12, 2017 -> 04:02 PM) I do not understand. Cool.
  11. QUOTE (raBBit @ Jul 12, 2017 -> 03:43 PM) None of those teams would make those deals. That isn't very good news. Some of the deals aren't that exciting.
  12. To further the discussion, who do we think will be the starting 5 once Q and Holland are moved? I assume Shields, Gonzo and Pelfrey are staying put. Rodon, Shields, Gonzo, Pelfrey and Covey? With Lopez waiting in the wings if they find any takers on Gonzo, Shields, or Pelfrey in August.
  13. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jul 12, 2017 -> 02:39 PM) whitesoxdave‏ @barstoolWSD Haven't heard anything at all today buttttt apparently Cease was just scratch from his start tonight Yawn.
  14. QUOTE (steveno89 @ Jul 12, 2017 -> 01:37 PM) Hard to say. Contenders are always looking for bullpen help at the deadline, and Swarzak is having a career year. Could be an attractive rental piece for sure. Probably a B prospect that is further away from the majors or a guy that doesn't have a ton of upside but is blocked. Could be interesting enough. Hoping for someone that will slot in the 10-15 range in the Sox top prospects.
  15. QUOTE (raBBit @ Jul 12, 2017 -> 01:51 PM) I am trying to get some work done today since I got nothing done yesterday. I have no reason to believe anything I said yesterday has changed. There are multiple teams involved and Sox are expecting to get to the final stages of offers sooner than later. Charlotte has three days off so it's hard to say. I'd imagine they line up anyone other than Volstad for Sunday. Could see a rationale for calling up any of Danish/Giolito/Lopez/Fulmer. Frankly I'd like to see them pull up Fulmer. Whys that? Just throw him in the fire?
  16. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jul 12, 2017 -> 01:47 PM) Lopez isn't doing that well himself, though. He's been better than Giolito and doens't have major mechanics issues he is ironing out. Lopez is ready.
  17. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 12, 2017 -> 01:37 PM) Also, I am going to be very interested to see who in Charlotte is mirroring Q. It almost has to be either Giolito or Lopez. Lopez. Giolito probably doesn't pitch in the majors this year, and if he does it is a couple starts in September.
  18. Really expected something to go down today. Still could, but all seems pretty quiet.
  19. QUOTE (raBBit @ Jul 12, 2017 -> 11:55 AM) Tank is on. FEEEEEEEEEED US!
  20. QUOTE (SCCWS @ Jul 12, 2017 -> 11:54 AM) You are correct. In fact, I saw some Yankee fans posting Q is a #3 starter if added. But also remember, from a GM standpoint, because he is not a big name or flashy, he will win games but probably not give the box office an added boost. So Q's value is results in the win column but probably not at the box office which may affect the return he brings back. Sale was used immediately by Boston as a big advertising tool. If somebody takes Verlander, he will also sell tickets for a while. A GM primarily wants to get to the World Series but if he sells tickets /merchandise , that is a bonus. Ehhh. Bonus? Sure. I don't think fans (wrongly) underrating Quintana will ultimately affect his trade value.
  21. Just announced. Fri - Shields Sat - Holland Sun - Quintana
  22. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 12, 2017 -> 11:16 AM) Soo... Has a starter been announced for Friday yet? Just announced. Fri - Shields Sat - Holland Sun - Quintana
  23. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Jul 11, 2017 -> 04:25 PM) Looking at our schedule it makes sense though. Our interleague slate is the Dodgers, Cubs and Giants. The latter two are likely much better than their record thus far. In the AL we have yet to play the Astros and are finished with the A's. We still have to play at Fenway and aside from potentially the Tigers there are no "easy" wins. Fair enough, makes sense.
