  1. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Aug 6, 2017 -> 09:48 AM) This is my favorite of the minor July trades (among Cabrera, Jennings, Swarzak). At least one of the pitchers is a legit prospect, which is nice return. Cordell and Gillespie are better prospects than Puckett.
  2. Lopez is already listed as the probable starter in whitesox.com.
  3. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 4, 2017 -> 04:49 PM) The same can be said for guys like Engel, Leury, and May... and those guys won't hurt young pitching with their defense. My guess is May is more or less out of the picture. He may get a September call up, but I don't expect to see him again after that. You could probably put Cordell, Willy and Tilson in that category tho (needing MLB at bats), though more in the longer term since they're all hurt at the moment.
  4. Al Albuquerque signed and assigned to Charlotte. So that happened.
  5. QUOTE (Sleepy Harold @ Aug 4, 2017 -> 04:13 PM) This blackout really changed me, I was rather productive at work this week. We made it! -MNMUSOXFAN on twitter
  6. OMG! I WAS WORRIED IT WOULD NEVER RETURN! In all honesty, if there was ever a time for it to die during a season, it didn't chose an awful time.
  7. QUOTE (ptatc @ Aug 1, 2017 -> 04:18 PM) I was having this issue earlier today. It is working now though. I get a white page that says "this website is temporary unavailable, please try again later." Works on my phone fine however.
  8. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Aug 1, 2017 -> 04:05 PM) When I'm logged out, if I click a thread it'll redirect to another site. I think this is the problem I am having, and then the redirects are getting blocked.
  9. If Shields were claimed (complete hypothetical, I know he won't get claimed), would the claiming team be on the hook for his remaining salary (including portion Pads are supposed to pay), or just the Sox portion? I would assume the whole portion since technically the Pads just sent money with Shields in the deal.
  10. For some reason the site became blocked on my work computer today. Really hoping that this is the issue. Reading Soxtalk from my phone during the work day is not sustainable! Still not able to access, so hoping some kinks are still being ironed out. Otherwise what a strange coincidence (and a damn shame).
  11. Wooohooo! Glad to see him get his opportunity.
  12. What happened to Matt Cooper? Hasn't pitched in a month or so, had some rough outings before that. Thanks
  13. Saw on the Sox transactions page that Covey was sent on a rehab assignment to the AZL Sox. So we have that to look forward to!
  14. QUOTE (knightni @ Jul 31, 2017 -> 03:50 PM) I really like Alen Hanson as a bench guy. He's fast, and can play all OF spots and 2B. He's an interesting guy, and definitely one the Sox should be taking a look at. Problem is, he kind of sucks.
  15. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jul 31, 2017 -> 03:40 PM) Rangers hit this one out of the park. 2 lottery tickets and a young player with high-HR, high OBP, high walk, low strikeout potential for 3 months of a pitcher having a mediocre at best season? Incredible. I am not an enamored. Its a fine deal, but I wouldn't be that excited if I were a Texas fan. Not to mention the rest of their deals sucked.
  16. Seems like the price for pitching has gone done. Glad Rick made the moves when he did for Q and Sale.
  17. The thing I like most about it is it doesn't force our hand with Giolito and Fulmer. Let them stay down in AAA.
  18. Looks like Gonzo stays.
  19. All seems quiet..not that we have much left.
  20. Interesting deal. Basically 3 backend top 100 types, though 2 are seriously injured, and the other has seen his stock drop dramatically in the past year.
  21. Nice deal for the Jays.
  22. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Jul 31, 2017 -> 12:23 PM) I think we need another veteran arm or two, in the mold of Pelfrey/Holland, who can hold a place if Fulmer/Giolito aren't ready but can be banished if one of them forces the issue. I'd ultimately be fine with that. But I really hope they don't make any ML signings for offensive guys. We have enough fringe guys that need ABs. Minor league deals? Sure, go to town. But I want Davidson, Delmonico, Saldino, Yolmer, Engel, Leury, Willy, Cordell, Gillaspie and Tilson getting as many ABs as possible in what is surely going to be another 60-70 win season.
  23. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jul 31, 2017 -> 12:04 PM) I'm kind of surprised how many people want Engel starting over Cordell. Engel is a fantastic defensive CF. Our young pitchers will need that.
  24. QUOTE (flavum @ Jul 31, 2017 -> 12:01 PM) Is Cordell on the 40-man? He was on the Brewers, so I assume that means he should be on the Sox now too. He does not appear to be, no. But if he was on the Brewers, he'd need to be on the Sox. Sox 40 Man
  25. White Sox have 6 open spots on the 40 man.
