Keith Law
QUOTE (shipps @ May 24, 2017 -> 10:31 AM) Can someone explain to me what was Law thinking that Garfien was insinuating? Or what WAS Garfien insinuating? I am confused, like usual. I think Law was moreso mad that he felt Garfien was insinuating that Law only talked to scouts with teams that couldn't sign Robert, and therefore was more critical of his ability, and that Law couldn't see through the BS. Basically that Law got bad info and that he was gullible enough to believe it. He basically said that.

Updated teams interested in Q
QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ May 23, 2017 -> 08:15 PM) We desperately need a good first baseman that can hit and field well. Meh. I am the guy that said I'd love to get Reed as a third or 4th piece of a Q deal (and I would), but 1B is a fairly easy thing to fill via FA when you're ready to compete.

Covey to DL, Minaya recalled
Never want to see a guy get hurt, but this is best case scenario. Throw him on the DL and bring him back in August as the mop up man.

May 23rd Game Thread: White Sox @ Arizona
Put him on the DL and spare us all. When is Lopez service time date? Sometime early June?

Updated teams interested in Q
QUOTE (yesterday333 @ May 23, 2017 -> 05:02 PM) I think a fair package from Houston would be Tucker, Fisher, one of (Paulino, Whitley, or Perez) and somebody in their 20-30 range. There are some really interesting pieces in there. Would still love to get AJ Reed in there somewhere if possible.

Luis Robert signing official
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 23, 2017 -> 03:17 PM) I'd love to bet Keith Law something worthwhile. I take Robert, he's got Tatis Jr. player with the best career WAR wins. I bet him $100 that Tatis Jr never accumulates more than 2 WAR in an MLB season. Bastard didn't respond to my tweet.

Sox Trade for 2 Bonus Slots from Baltimore
Interested to see how Robert fares once he starts in Kanny. I wouldn't be all that surprised if he makes it to the big leagues before 2020, if he is as good as some experts say he is. But until that happens, everything is pure conjecture.

Nationals acquire Doolittle/Madson from As
We have a ton of arms. If you can't get Robles unless you include Burdi with Robertson, you do that all day long. Between Fulmer, Giolito, Kopech, Hansen and Lopez, at least one of those guys is probably going to end up in the pen, and likely as a closer. If Burdi gets you one of the best position player prospects in the game along w Robertson, that is exactly the type of trade the Sox should be looking at, considering the arms they have in their system.

Nationals acquire Doolittle/Madson from As
QUOTE (bmags @ May 21, 2017 -> 07:46 PM) I don't know I kinda like Ward but obviously can't speak to Lazardo. He's hitting with an .800 OPS in AA now. Good power. Way better than the Robertson for Severino swap. Ward would be a fine piece, but not the main one. Lazardo hasn't pitched this year due to TJS.

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ May 21, 2017 -> 07:43 PM) If the Nats owner blocked that, he messed up. Wouldn't be surprised if it was Jerry. "Rick, if I am eating $13M, get me some real prospects."

Nationals acquire Doolittle/Madson from As
Nightengale reporting that the Nats Robertson deal that fizzled out at management level this past winter was Nick Ward and Jesus Luzardo with the Sox picking up half the tab on Robertson. I think they can don better than that now .

QUOTE (Real @ May 20, 2017 -> 08:16 PM) how long do we control Robert? Same amount as the guy we take 11th overall in a month or so.

Sox Trade for 2 Bonus Slots from Baltimore
QUOTE (2005thxfrthmmrs @ May 20, 2017 -> 04:42 PM) How much did Sox sign their lower tier prospects for in years past? I'm wondering if there are teams that will sign the more interesting next tier names for slightly over $300k to beat out the penalizing teams. Pretty sure it ranges all over, be definitely a good chunk under $300k.

QUOTE (oldsox @ May 20, 2017 -> 04:45 PM) Would not be surprised if Moncada helped recruit Robert. It's been stated that he did.

How would you rank Renteria so far?
I like him. Team isn't very good without Melky and Cabrera having at least career norms at the dish, but he tries some interesting things. Generally I love managers who try to make things happen. When you're a team like the Sox, it's what you have to do to win Excited for when he has a decent roster at his disposal.

QUOTE (SouthSide2004 @ May 20, 2017 -> 04:16 PM) I'd be cool with Rutherford or Frazier in a Quintana trade (amongst others), but my plan isn't that far fetched. I really think one of Soto or Kieboom is realistic get for Robertson. A guy like Pavin Smith should be available at #11. We also have a few other interesting positional prospects in the system (Delmonico, Call, Basabe, Fisher, Adolfo, etc.), plus a few more assets that could be traded to add more (Nate Jones in particular). Adding one impact free agent bat isn't really anything crazy either. Honestly, I think the key part of this move is that if you believe Robert can stick in CF (still TBD), you've now got high profile young talent up the entire middle in Anderson, Moncada, & Collins. And it's much easier to find above average players in the corners than up the middle talent or premium pitching. If we can now hit on the Quintana & Robertson trades, our rebuild should be in a great spot. Great post. Obviously a lot needs to go right for the White Sox for this play out, but it's the most realistic shot the Sox have to be relevant by 2019, which I think will be the first year of a solid 5 year window in the FOs mind. Fingers crossed.

QUOTE (turnin' two @ May 20, 2017 -> 03:00 PM) The Sale deal, coupled with their other moves and not really adding any even mid dollar veterans may have freed up the capital this move required. It is hard to say for sure, but, really, it doesn't matter. The Sox now have 2 elite hitting prospects. Pair this with the emergence of Adolfo, and the future is looking better than it was a month ago, even with Giolito's struggles. For sure, agreed here. If we had a $140M payroll probably wouldn't have seen this. Super pumped to have Robert in our system! Can't wait to see how he adapts early on.

QUOTE (bmags @ May 20, 2017 -> 02:56 PM) I actually read about this but I can't remember for the life of me. Want to say some percentage goes to players union other to operating budget. If you happen to run into it again, please post. Super curious.

QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ May 20, 2017 -> 02:54 PM) Sale deal has nothing to do with this deal. Sox weren't sent money. The tax and bonus owed to Moncada was on Red Sox. White Sox wouldn't have to pay remainder of bonus anyway. That's not really agreed to. That's Red Sox obligation. Exactly. Completely different situations.

Out of curiousity...what does MLB do with the taxes they'll collect on a signing like this? Is this what is distributed back to the smaller market teams via revenue sharing?
