No chance in hell they’re picking that option up

They should DFA him post deadline when they decide to sell. It will send a message to the young players that this is what happens when you can’t do what is expected of you and when you constantly s%*# the bed.
  3. Tanner McDougal is a dude.
  4. Winning the division doesn’t get them any closer to winning a championship
  5. It is a good comp in this discussion because it shows how you can be a valuable and contributing player with not the greatest ability for power. And like you said Bradfield is a better defender and a better base runner
  6. Benintendi is proving to be a very valuable player for the Sox and he’s shown what, 40 power this year? Pro coaching can help develop the bay speed, I’m more concerned about that than his 40 power.
  7. I’d be all in favor of that. I’m hoping they have a draft like 2021, where they load up on prep hitters. I’d like to see them go underslot at 15 so they can have more money to sign prep guys later in the draft. Dillon Head, George Lombard, Colin Houck, Aidan Miller. Arjun Nimmala and Rhet Lowder will be long gone by the time they pick.
  8. Very glad Grifol went with an opener. I hope it’s becomes something we see more often.
  9. Good for the tank
  10. New mock draft from MLB Pipeline, I believe this one comes from Jonathan Mayo specifically. https://www.mlb.com/news/latest-mlb-2023-mock-draft?t=mlb-draft-coverage 15. White Sox: Aidan Miller, 3B, Mitchell HS, New Port Richey, Fla. (No. 12) He’s tough to place because a hamate injury kept teams from seeing him this spring, but his strong showing on the summer showcase circuit might be enough. He could move up as he works out for teams.
  11. It’s been a much needed and welcome change of direction.
  12. For me if I could comp him to any player playing today it’s Yordan Alvarez. I think you take Yordan Alvarez 1-1 every time.
  13. I agree that ideally you want someone who plays an up the middle position, those are the more valuable and the more premium positions BUT I think this is a guy who hits 35 homers a year and rocks an absurd OBP. Also, the college slugger is the safest pick to make in the draft, so you’ll have a contributing big leaguer at worst. I think he’s a high ceiling player with a high floor as well.
  14. I think Kurst is the better player. I was never really sold on Torkelson
  15. My favorite player in next year’s draft class is the Wake Forest 1B/RF, Nick Kurst. He’s a more athletic Adam Dunn, he’s also a better pure hitter than Dunn. The power and OBP skills are off the charts.
  16. Everyone struggles to develop catchers
  17. Whoever the next GM of the team is, has to tear it down and totally rebuild from the draft. They for sure don’t have the ammo they did in 2016
  18. That would be such a horrendous pick, he's barely a first round talent. I can't imagine them and Mike Shirley passing up those shortstops to draft Morales.
  19. Drew Gilbert. There was a ton of smoke connecting him to the Sox during the last draft season. He kinda checks a lot of their boxes
  20. For the lack of power? Or do you think there’s little upside there? I wouldn’t hate the pick.
  21. Regardless who the head baseball person is going into next season, these players should all be bought out.
  22. He’s good but I’m very against the idea of drafting HS SPs with first round picks in back to back years. There’s so much risk in that demographic.
  23. Another player I like is Nick Kurtz, who's probably the best hitter in the draft class and has the most power potential in the class too. He's RF/1B for Wake Forrest. From Perfect Game: Some evaluators believe Kurtz may be the best hitter in the 2024 class, and that's saying a lot considering his imposing size, strength and power-corner archetype. Kurtz has plus power with the chance to grow into 70-grade juice, as well as a plus hit tool with a willingness to take his walks. He hardly ever strikes out too. Kurtz is an average runner underway with solid baseball instincts and the ability to impact the game on the base paths if you don't pay attention to him. Kurtz has a chance to anchor a big league lineup for a long, long time.
