  1. The top player in the class as of right now and I don't see it changing is Vance Honeycutt. This is from Perfect Game: Honeycutt is a superstar in every sense of the word. A 25-25 season in college baseball is unheard of. They only play roughly 60 games. That's precisely what Honeycutt achieved as a true freshman. He's the prototype power/speed centerfielder with plus tools in both areas and the body, trajectory and pedigree to suggest it'll only get better from here. If there's one quip on his profile at present, the swing-and-miss rates will need to come if he's to project the all-star level contributor at the next level most see him being. In the field, he's an above average centerfielder flashing moments of even bigger promise. His route quality can waver from day-to-day, but there are nights where he looks like a surefire plus centerfielder with long strides and a gliding nature to his game, not to mention a keen awareness at the wall. He's got a solid average arm too. The potential here is big, a potential five-tool star. He looks like the real deal. He seems to have gotten the strikeouts under control as well, that write up is from November 22
  2. So are the Braves. In any deal with the Dodgers, I would need Diego Cartaya coming back
  3. Wouldn't be mad if he was the pick. He should be a fast riser.
  4. I've been very please with how Shirley is drafting. Regardless of a regime change, I hope he sticks around
  5. I agree with this. Those Hostetler drafts really set the team back, I can’t say that enough. 2015: Carson Fulmer 2016: Zack Collins/Zack Burdi 2017: Jake Burger 2018: Nick Madrigal 2019: Andrew Vaughn Vaughn is the only regular player of that group but I still had reservations about that pick. I’d like to see more power but he’s panning out so far considering his mismanagement. The rebuild failed with that run of horrible draft picks.
  6. He said he’s leaving the team after his current contract is over. I’m taking him at his word.
  7. The sad thing about the Sox promoting someone within for the GM gig would be that the gig would be highly coveted since it’s Chicago. People would line up for it.
  8. If Arjun Nimmala is on the board at 15 and the Sox don’t take him, I would be extremely upset. He’s everything they should be looking for, he’s an athlete, he’s an up the middle player and he has massive power potential. Keep adding high ceiling guys into the system and you’ll sure to have some stars if you can develop them.
  9. How I’m looking at this: The DH got injured, the Sox should be able to replicate his value and offensive production by smartly playing matchups. I like the idea of the Burger/Sheets platoon. Thank goodness it’s not anyone of real value
  10. Boopa1219 replied to BamaDoc's topic in FutureSox Board
Don’t put too much into his stint at AA last year. The Sox sent him there knowing he was exhausted and overmatched but they wanted him to have the experience seeing the higher competition alongside the other top prospects.
  11. If the coaching staff they assembled can’t get him to develop some pitch recognition and plate discipline, he’ll never gain that skill.
  12. Not a fan of using your closer in low leverage situations.
  13. Last year the 15th pick in the draft had a bonus value of $4,082,900. That pick will be north of $4.1M this year. I would like to see the Sox get a deal with a player going underslot, so they can overpay for someone in rounds 2-5.
  14. All I need from Colas is average. Be average with the glove and be average at the plate and you’ll be the best RF the Sox have had in sometime.
  15. A couple base running blunders today. I don’t get why Moncada tried to stretch that hit into a triple, does anyone know if the 3rd base coach was telling him to?
  16. If the Sox hit the market they’re probably a 5B team?
  17. We really don’t have to see Leury bat 3rd or cleanup anymore
  18. I’ve said it for the past few seasons, the Sox aren’t serious about winning as long as Leury Garcia is on the roster. I guess they’re finally serious about winning. It’s a new day.
  19. You can’t be serious about winning and have him on your roster.
  20. So what? He should be a HC now but it would help him to go to a team where he could call plays.
  21. Good for Tommy Rees getting the Bama job. If he wants to be a HC at any level, he needed to leave ND and advance his career. I know he really wants to go tot he NFL and this gets him closer to that. He's a good coach, my problems with him were mainly tied to recruiting. I'm hoping that either Joe Moorehead or Brian Johnson gets the gig
  22. I think Mena will be on a list as well.
