  1. If the Sox sell, they could fix a lot of these issues
  2. Abreu, Cueto, and Harrison should all be available, at the very least.
  3. I remember Kevin Goldstein saying on Twitter that it takes 3/4 years to really build a farm system. Excluding the 2020 draft because it was so short, the Sox, Mike Shirley and Marco Paddy are 2 years into this process. They’ve come out with Colson Montgomery, Oscar Colas, Sean Burke, Norge Vera, Wes Kath, Tanner McDougal, Erick Hernandez, Noah Schultz, Payton Pallette, and Jonathan Cannon amongst others. This still might be a bottom 5 farm system but it’s very, very intriguing. I think the Sox are in good hands with Shirley and his penchant for upside. I’m predicting that they’ll have a top 20 pick in next year’s draft and that will be a huge boost to the farm as well.
  4. Johnny Cueto
  5. Not a bad thing imo.
  6. I said this in this thread and I’ll say it again but I wouldn’t be too upset if the Sox pulled a Giants/Angels and drafted all pitchers. I wouldn’t like it but I would understand it.
  7. What is Preliepp's velocity looking like? The one thing that worries me, if he is the Sox pick, is that this could be another Crochet situation because he doesn't have the innings base and track record of being a starting pitcher. Only 7 starts and 28 IP at Bama.
  8. I would consider myself a Hahn supporter but the Sox had very clear needs going into this past offseason. They needed to reinforce the starting rotation, they needed to get more left handed, they needed to be better defensively and they had to add OBP guys on the roster. They did none of those things
  9. The core is good enough but the supporting cast is piss poor. If you’re trying to win a World Series and this is your competitive window to do so, then why are you rostering Leury Garcia and Josh Harrison? If you’re trying to win a title, then how come team wide fundamentals (defense and base running) have been allowed to get worse year, after year? Why do Joe McEwing and Daryl Boston have jobs? And why do you have a manager who refuses to optimize the talent on the roster? I have full faith in the core (Anderson, Vaughn, Robert, Cease, Giolito, Kopech, Hendriks, and Eloy) while it may need some adjustments, I have no faith in the pieces around them.
  10. Milwaukee and Washington have worse systems imo. So they’re not the worst anymore.
  11. Absolutely, they need to change the hitting program at the ML level. They should look to hire someone from NYY or SFG to increase LA and increase walk rates.
  12. Why does Daryl Boston have a job?
  13. I really wish the Sox had the Giants’ plate discipline.
  14. The Sox are dead last in MLB with a team BB% of 6.4%, which is pretty below average. An average BB% is 8%. Heres the Sox lineup and their BB%: Anderson - 3.8% Robert - 3.1% Vaughn - 7.7% Abreu - 12% Garcia - 3.1% Pollock - 4.5% Grandal - 13.4% Harrison - 4.5% Burger - 5.5% Moncada - 4.9% 8 out of their ten most played players have BB’s that all below average and well below average The organization needs to be better at acquiring players who can get on base, whether it’s the draft, free agency or in trades.

Kath’s walk rate is at 11.7%, which is good but his K rate is at 33.5%. That has to come down
  16. I got bored and started looking at free agents for the coming offseason and I really need Brandon Nimmo in a Sox uniform. He would help solve a lot of problems.
  17. Hopefully they’re very patient with him.
  18. Colson Montgomery says hello from Winston Salem. In all seriousness you can’t deny the improvements they’ve made in that department, just need the pitching to catch up to the hitting.
  19. Selling doesn’t equal rebuild. I think a slight retool of the roster can do wonders for it. And why not trade guys, who are easily replaceable, on expiring contracts or who are on the decline? Take Abreu for example, he might be a platoon guy in this point in his career. Plus having him off the team, strips the team of a 1B/DH type and they have too many of those. Trading him would allow Andrew Vaughn to play his natural position and you can get a natural outfielder to go in the OF which could help improve team defense. Just an example.
  20. I don’t think this is a playoff team, with a horrible manager not optimizing the talent on the roster, the constant injuries and the lack of adequate organizational depth. There’s just so much to overcome in my opinion. If the Sox find themselves out of the playoff picture come the ASB, I think they should look to trade some of the vets on the roster. Most notably Abreu, Lynn, and Pollock. Acquire some more useful pieces and some depth hopefully and use the off-season to build a playoff roster. What do you think?
  21. I do too, it’s a glaring hole in the org. They need more athletes too.
