  1. He’s been exactly what the team needs. He’s a plus defender, gets on base and controls the strike zone. Unfortunately the roster is filled with guys who should be in the minors or out of pro ball.
  2. That could be the only walk we see all game
  3. See Luis Robert, Andrew Benintendi and Jake Burger. Grandal is having a solid year too. The problem is the profile of the players the Sox have acquired. Lots of guys who can’t control the zone, who swing a lot, who have no plate discipline and who hit a lot of ground balls. This is a veteran roster and a lot of these guys are set in their ways, Anderson and Andrus immediately come to mind. A complete overhaul of the roster is needed.
  4. I’m sick of this dog s%*#. Blow it up. They’re so baseball stupid.
  5. Andrew Vaughn was the third overall pick in the 2019 MLB Draft, instead of him the Sox could’ve had CJ Abrams, Riley Greene, Corbin Carroll, or Anthony Volpe. Another terrible pick for the Sox. And a warning that you should never use a first round pick on a R/R first base only, college player.
  6. Why was Montgomery taken out of the game?
  7. A lot of people had Jung as a top 5 pick, he went 8th. He wasn’t projected to go in the back of the first round like Taylor and Morales.
  8. Which would move Colin Houck down the board. Soderstrom. I would’ve drafted him and immediately moved him off of C and put him in the OF.
  9. If the Sox are going to trade for a second baseman, I hope it’s Cole Young from the Mariners system. He has a 60 Bat, plays SS currently and he’s very advanced at controlling the strike zone.
  10. As it’s been said here people say he can play the OF if the C doesn’t work out but he looks like a long term fit at C. Id rather have one of the prep SS’s/CF’s but I’d rather Mitchell than any of the college bats. I imagine you can get Mitchell at a discount and sign more prep arms/bats throughout the draft.
  11. The plate discipline is horrendous
  12. The pick was fine, how he’s been developed has been the issue with him. He should be a starter but LaRussa needed him in the pen.
  13. They need to get something for these assets that they have, especially the guys on expiring deals like Giolito, Grandal, Middelton.
  14. I want the Sox to have the highest draft pick possible next year. Right now they would have the 7th pick, if they sell they can get a top 3-5 pick. And I will say this again, since they’re changed Scouting Directors, I would say that the Sox have drafted pretty well with their picks and resources. You didn’t like the Crochet pick? You didn’t like Montgomery, who’s a top 30 prospect now? Don’t like Schultz?
  15. Hopefully they do, that will bring them closer to selling and the top pick next year.
  16. Man, the veterans on this team are so baseball stupid. The only way forward is without them.
  17. They could draft Head, cut a deal and bad another high school bat or arm who falls due to bonus demands, maybe two.
  18. There’s so much smoke about the Sox and prep players. I would be shocked if they take Morales, I don’t see it happening
  19. He’s learning on the job but he needs to do better at putting guys in a position to succeed. Look at Alberto, he should’ve only started against LHP. He’s strictly a platoon guy but Grifol left him out to dry against RHPs. That can’t happen
  20. They also don’t see enough pitches. In 2023, 3.91 is league average for pitches seen per plate appearance (P/PA). The Sox see 3.83 which is 29th in the league. The Cubs are first with 4.12. Let’s look at their walk rate. A league average walk rate is 8.7%. The Sox rank dead last with a 6.6% walk rate. The Padres are first with 11.1%. On the bright side, they are striking out at a league average clip. The offense is beyond broke. The best way to fix it is getting rid of guys who contribute the most to these issues. Blow this thing up, it’s the only way forward.

I would say that they just did that.
  22. I agree, it would be an overdraft.
  23. Rhett Lowder is pitching out of his mind right now for Wake Forest. 5 K’s through 3 IP so far.

The Kimbrel trade made a lot of sense and a lot of people here applauded it when it happened. And a lot of people here didn’t hate the Pollock trade when it happened either. While those moves didn’t work out, the thought and process behind them made sense at the time. Like Lynn, acquiring him for a title run made a lot of sense but that time has passed and they need to cut bait.
