  1. I’m not saying there won’t be token interviews with a few names, but only for the sake of keeping up appearances.
  2. If we are parallel universeing, I’m gonna chose the one where Jerry doesn’t buy the White Sox and run the franchise into the ground for forty years…
  3. He likely already had someone lined up when the firings happened. There won’t be a search of any kind or any sort of legitimate process.
  4. GM for 11 years, yet stayed in said messy leadership trio for a decade. At some point that is on you. That stink is your stink too. You’re complicit in this mess no matter how that silver tongue tries to spin it.
  5. I absolutely hate this fucking garbage ass organisation. I hate them with such a burning fire because I do love them and want them to be good. But I already have one foot out the door and floating between apathy and disgust will make it hard to ever believe in them again. When the new hire is formalised I hope everyone with a platform buries them and keeps piling on. JR can’t shuffle off soon enough.
  6. His one true gift was gaming the draft and international system with huge overpays before the slot systems were introduced. After that, w/o the ability to throw gobs of money at the wall he couldn’t acquire amateur talent for s%*#.
  7. Yup. This is just sad and desperate. But a one trick pony only knows one trick…
  8. My head is spinning. I'm fucking speechless.
  9. Um, Chicago is already too developed? What? The West Loop maybe, downtown maybe, but there is a whole lot of empty real estate on the South and West sides. Sox Park sits in a sea of undeveloped parking lots FFS! Maybe that sentiment is true from a pure speculation standpoint, but there is a real lack of imagination with that mentality.
  10. Unless Jerry really wants to abandon the city for the burbs and cut off access to half of the fandom, there isn’t a better spot than 35th & Shields. Retrofitting Soldier Field for baseball wouldn’t be cheap, on top of the traffic nightmare 81 games would be. The 78 and Michael Reese sites are spoken for. JR is just sabre rattling for public money again, same as MKE and Baltimore are right now. The billionaire class loves making noise when they think it’s time for someone else to foot the bill.
  11. They better DFA his ass as soon as Seby returns.
  12. Nah they will be desperate for innings next year.
  13. Is it worse knowing that whoever replaces Hahn will likely be just as bad, and a change now means change is less likely again anytime in the near future?
  14. Ms are red hot and just swept Houston in Houston. I’ll be surprised if they don’t leave town with a sweep.
  15. He might be delusional enough to think another team might give him a shot, but…
  16. $15M per for Benintendi’s past performance was mostly viewed positively last winter if I recall. The bigger issue was that 5/$75M was the largest outlay in franchise history, and that outlay happened to be for a solid but non spectacular player. We also as fans are jaded because so many middling free agents have signed with the Sox right at the point where age catches up to performance and they crater. The Sox are where careers go to die, and Benintendi seems like the newest addition to that sad Sox fraternity. Only four more years baby! I hope Rick Hahn hasn’t dislocated a shoulder patting himself on the back for that deal…
  17. And we will celebrate Hahn’s departure for all of 5 minutes before Getz or Haber or KW Jr is formally announced…
  18. Ok ok, so this is Bob, so it means they want this out there. Is this just a token piece of red meat for the fan base? Because the mind boggles if this is earnest statement. The White Sox are doing an internal review. The most closed minded insular org around is talking to themselves about whether change is needed. I mean, holy f***.
  19. Aragon is still going strong. Same with the Riv, the Metro, Thalia Hall. All fantastic aged venues. I’d like to thing baseball learned it’s lesson with suburban stadiums. ATL’s nefarious motivations aside. The Bears being entitled brats about the stadium the city and state built for them has no real relevance, and I will celebrate them releasing the stranglehold on public land on the lakefront. We have seen the White Sox draw when they are good. Conceding the city to the north side team is no way to grow the fanbase or increase interest. Talk of a suburban baseball stadium in this day and age is backwards thinking.
  20. You just know he's beaming inside ready to say 'I told you so!' and bat him leadoff the rest of the series.
